That’s not very nice is it?
Exactly how many people are invited, I wonder?
I’d be well hacked off if I were her.

I must admit I have a really soft spot for her.
She’s a bit of an odd ball

Poor Fergie. She’s been trying so HARD recently. Maybe too hard.

I can remember the toe sucking incident, it was all over the papers. A huge humiliation for Andrew and hardly the best way to impress your in laws. In addition, Fergie was prepared to sell access to Andrew for a considerable sum of money because she was skint. This 'sting' was shown on TV quite recently. Don't we all want loyalty in our families? I know I do.

It certainly makes you wonder about how much real loyalty there is in that family.
It all seems to be a ‘Succession’, a bit dog eat dog, and quite fragile and precarious to me.
How the public will respond to the build up and the Coronation itself will be really revealing regarding the future of the monarchy.
The Queen’s death has marked a monumental shift in public opinion imo

I doubt divorced spouses are usually invited to royal events.

I remember the British Royal Family being asked not to send a divorced person to one of the Spanish Royal weddings, and I think the same applied to Pope John Paul II's funeral as well.

They can't invite Fergie when most of the hereditary peers are being excluded because it's a scaled down Coronation.
What a nightmare, it was bad enough organising the guest list for my own daughter's wedding

Anniel Sat 15-Apr-23 13:12:02

I think it is mean spirited. She did make mistakes in earlier life, but she is very loyal to Andrew and I read in the DT that relations were thawing between Charles and Andrew. The Queen liked her even if Philip did not and she does look after the Queen’s dogs. I am a bit surprised to tell the truth.

LovelyLady

Let Fergie go to the wedding.
The King has been forgiven as has The Queen, show love and let Fergie attend.
Fergie only speaks positively about the Family.

Yes
And, just for saying that, you are indeed a lovely lady smile

Yes, but the thought crossed my mind that the powers that be thought, by not inviting Sarah, Andrew might refuse to go
🤞

Is there a wedding?

FannyCornforth Sat 15-Apr-23 12:52:49

Wow! A hat that has seen a lot of action! 🤔

Are you wearing the tiara on top of the hat?
That would look nice

Of course!!

This hat has seen a lot of action, I can tell you, it will take a Coronation in its stride.

😁

Am not interested who is invited or not.
Until Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother came into the family they were all foreigners anyway.

Bluebell and Beth (they are Camilla’s really. I’m not sure if Charles is a very doggy person )

I think he is, he used to have a Labrador called Harvey?

Probably keener on bigger dogs.

Diana wasn’t a teenage bride, she had just turned 20 when she married Charles.

Only by a week or two, but in the interests of accuracy….

I’ve easily forgotten Diana, old history.

I like Fergie, at least she’ll be able to nip to the fridge for a top up.

Are the corgis not going shock

I haven’t heard anything yet.
Charles and Camilla have two Jack Russells from Battersea

grannygranby Sat 15-Apr-23 11:45:19

I think it is shabby not inviting her. She is the mother of two princesses. She has the corgis. She has been very loyal in her way. I think she is very likeable and has probably saved the sanity of Andrew by her loyalty. She had to take so much humiliation in the past...duchess of Pork etc etc.
Charles has little respect for public opinion...insisting that Camilla is full queen and not respecting many who can't quite forget the betrayals and tragedy of Diana, the teenage bride who was shafted by him and Camilla who, older than Charles, bears a lot of responsibility. It's a fairytale but people like fairness above all.

missdeke Sat 15-Apr-23 11:45:11

Fergie was on tv a couple of weeks ago promoting her latest children' book, she said at the time that she did not think she would be invited and was quite happy not to be. She said she would be watching it on tv like other people.

caz6853 Sat 15-Apr-23 11:33:00

I quite like wacky Fergie always have. She just didn't fit with the RF. As for Megs well she's probably well aware that she is not welcome and is embarrassed. All her own fault in my opinion.

FannyCornforth Sat 15-Apr-23 11:25:42

Sorry, Amalegra, I spelled your name wrong

FannyCornforth Sat 15-Apr-23 11:25:00

Amelega
That’s all well and good, but
1) should Fergie have an invite?
2) what will you be wearing? smile

FannyCornforth Sat 15-Apr-23 11:23:09

Ladyleftfieldlover

I’ve always wanted a tiara!

I had one in the 90s!
It was about a tenner off Stourbridge market.
It was a bit of a grunge thing - spaghetti strap dress, docs, messy hair, tiara. Think Courtney Love

Amalegra Sat 15-Apr-23 11:20:16

The problem with the coronation is that it’s being presented as a nationwide party with not much regard given to the solemn State occasion that it is. I know that we are more relaxed in SOME ways these days and that the media, including the somewhat egregious social kind, holds far too much sway, but even so we should remember it’s our Head of State who is being officially confirmed as per our (unwritten) constitution. The question of whether this position should be taken by the head of a hereditary monarchy is quite another thing. Personally I feel that the political shenanigans, the infighting and the sheer expense of electing a President would distract from the real problems facing this country in the present day. And such a deficiency of decent candidates! (President Blair, anyone?!)
