That’s not very nice is it?
Exactly how many people are invited, I wonder?
I’d be well hacked off if I were her.

I must admit I have a really soft spot for her.
She’s a bit of an odd ball

Calendargirl Fri 14-Apr-23 07:42:41

Why?

Not surprised really. She’s Andrew’s ex, even if they still live together, she’s not part of the family as such. And Andy will be on the sidelines himself.

Calendargirl Fri 14-Apr-23 07:44:58

It’s 2000 guests isn’t it? But that will include all the aristos, the statesmen and politicians, the charity worker members of the public, plus the family.

I suppose she might be offered Meghan’s seat, now we know she isn’t coming though.

Omid Scobie agrees with me, he’s tweeted that ‘it’s kinda cruel’

CG if I were Charles (I realise that this is quite a stretch of the imagination) I’d consider the mother of my nieces to be family.
And he’s known her for such a long time.
I suppose they do things a bit differently from my family grin

same as the other ex ..... don't know her name .... american ....peter phillips wife ...... hope the phoaw grandson invited

FannyCornforth Fri 14-Apr-23 07:56:35

Autumn Philips.

BlueBelle Fri 14-Apr-23 08:03:26

I think the royal family close ranks on anyone ‘different’ especially women Diane, Fergie, Meghan anyone who doesn’t doff the cap, toe the line, or be mainstream and ‘correct’ are a goner (even poor old Margaret’s didn’t fit the bill)
Kate has slotted in perfectly so has Camilla but anyone who has some spirit is sidelined as soon as possible

I like Fergi she’s whacky and spirited and fun and I don’t think it ll bother her one jot
Is that Autumn someone or other Rosie

BlueBelle Fri 14-Apr-23 08:04:04

Whoops your post wasn’t there when I posted Fanny

The Royals seem to give normal dysfunctional families a bad name.

Visgir1 Fri 14-Apr-23 08:11:14

Wouldn't expect her to come? Too far removed now, probably wouldn't invite Andrews if it was really up to him.

FannyCornforth Fri 14-Apr-23 08:17:27

Yes, I think that you’ve hit the nail on the head there BlueBelle.
I’m going off them and their ways more and more to be honest

FannyCornforth Fri 14-Apr-23 08:22:55

It seems to me that Sarah is Andrew’s wife in all but name.
I know that Andrew is persona non grata, but wouldn’t one allow one’s brother a ‘plus one’ to one’s Coronation?

henetha Fri 14-Apr-23 09:54:36

I agree that Sarah should have an invite. She has stood by Andrew in spite of everything.

NotSpaghetti Fri 14-Apr-23 10:01:20

Sarah was pally with the Queen but not family anymore.
Would you invite your brother's ex to say, a "small" family wedding?
I don't think I would if I was pushed for space.

NotSpaghetti Fri 14-Apr-23 10:02:00

She has been very positive about Charles though.

Do we think this is a sign the royal family is pulling up the drawbridge to protect its unjustifiable privileges?

Glorianny Fri 14-Apr-23 10:08:07

It isn't a small family wedding though is it? She is still a Duchess. If Dukes have a right to be there shouldn't Duchesses?
Equality and all that. (Stupid of me it's the RF isn't it, other rules apply)

GagaJo Fri 14-Apr-23 11:17:43

I should imagine she's not that bothered. She's the one who was reported as commenting recently 'You're either in or you're out with the RF.' And by being divorced, she's out.

And yes, I think she and Andrew are still a couple. Much less flack for her this way.

nanna8 Fri 14-Apr-23 11:22:49

It would be very odd if she was invited. She is an ex and an ex of a persona non grata to boot.

Callistemon21 Fri 14-Apr-23 11:27:58

It's not a family do, it's an official occasion.

There was an embarrassing moment on TV when an interviewer asked Sarah about going to the Coronation and she replied that she hadn't had an invite and talked about what she might do on that day, which included watching it on TV. She was very graceful and tactful in her responses.

Just so. I very much doubt that Charles has the last word on the invitations. There will be a protocol.

Which phwoar grandson?

Arthur Chatto?

Forsythia Fri 14-Apr-23 12:59:49

I think it’s due to limited numbers being allowed. Politicians can’t take their spouses/partners.

Hmm. Yes, I imagine that you’re right

I still think that she should have an invite though…

I agree.

She even has the Queen Elizabeth corgis.
