That’s not very nice is it?
Exactly how many people are invited, I wonder?
I’d be well hacked off if I were her.

I must admit I have a really soft spot for her.
She’s a bit of an odd ball

I only compared it to a small family wedding because there has been a lot of talk about how short of space it is and how there are no plus-ones invited for almost all.

I’ve always wanted a tiara!

FannyCornforth Fri 14-Apr-23 14:56:15

Are you wearing the tiara on top of the hat?
That would look nice

Callistemon21 Fri 14-Apr-23 14:40:07

I'm going to buy some bejewelled trainers to match my tiara.
The hat is just not bling enough.

FannyCornforth Fri 14-Apr-23 14:36:26

Callistemon I reckon that you can guess what foot wear I’ll be sporting with my Vivienne Westwood frock smile

Well I have not been sent an invitation either, (probably because I have always been shunned by them my entire life. and must say I'm relieved. It is 57 years since I was last in London but I can imagine that accommodation costs are way beyond my budget, not to mention travel costs. Add on a posh frock, hat and jewellery (I have nothing suitable) and there is no way I could afford it. I am nonetheless in the huff, and will protest by refusing to watch any coverage - serves them right.

grin grinMy thoughts exactly.

I still have the posh hat I wore for DD's wedding umpteen years ago, kept it just for an occasion like this 🙂
The very smart but uncomfortable shoes went to the charity shop.

My invitation must be in the post somewhere.

Harry did insist that Auntie Fergie came to his wedding which is a point in his favour. They had to sit separately though.
I thought that when Prince Philip died they would remarry, but apparently not.
Her behaviour was no worse than that of Charles.

She went to the family Christmas so she is obviously included now in some family gatherings,, but it's probably some protocol for this event and she will accept that gracefully I imagine.. having learnt from past fallouts.

Of all the women, who have married into the family, I like Duchess Sarah (is she still Duchess?).

Her official title is Sarah, Duchess Of York.

Same as Diana, she lost the HRH after divorce.

same as the other ex ..... don't know her name .... american ....peter phillips wife ...... hope the phoaw grandson invited

Being picky here, but Autumn Phillips is Canadian.

I bet the Royals think one rogue American in the family is enough.

It seems to me that Sarah is Andrew’s wife in all but name.
I know that Andrew is persona non grata, but wouldn’t one allow one’s brother a ‘plus one’ to one’s Coronation?

I agree.

She even has the Queen Elizabeth corgis.

*It's not a family do, it's an official occasion.*

Just so. I very much doubt that Charles has the last word on the invitations. There will be a protocol.

Hmm. Yes, I imagine that you’re right

I still think that she should have an invite though…

Forsythia Fri 14-Apr-23 12:59:49

I think it’s due to limited numbers being allowed. Politicians can’t take their spouses/partners.

Arthur Chatto?

Callistemon21 Fri 14-Apr-23 11:27:58

It's not a family do, it's an official occasion.

There was an embarrassing moment on TV when an interviewer asked Sarah about going to the Coronation and she replied that she hadn't had an invite and talked about what she might do on that day, which included watching it on TV. She was very graceful and tactful in her responses.

nanna8 Fri 14-Apr-23 11:22:49

It would be very odd if she was invited. She is an ex and an ex of a persona non grata to boot.

GagaJo Fri 14-Apr-23 11:17:43

I should imagine she's not that bothered. She's the one who was reported as commenting recently 'You're either in or you're out with the RF.' And by being divorced, she's out.

And yes, I think she and Andrew are still a couple. Much less flack for her this way.

Glorianny Fri 14-Apr-23 10:08:07

It isn't a small family wedding though is it? She is still a Duchess. If Dukes have a right to be there shouldn't Duchesses?
Equality and all that. (Stupid of me it's the RF isn't it, other rules apply)

Kate has slotted in perfectly so has Camilla but anyone who has some spirit is sidelined as soon as possible"

Do we think this is a sign the royal family is pulling up the drawbridge to protect its unjustifiable privileges?

NotSpaghetti Fri 14-Apr-23 10:02:00

She has been very positive about Charles though.

NotSpaghetti Fri 14-Apr-23 10:01:20

Sarah was pally with the Queen but not family anymore.
Would you invite your brother's ex to say, a "small" family wedding?
I don't think I would if I was pushed for space.
