That’s not very nice is it?
Exactly how many people are invited, I wonder?
I’d be well hacked off if I were her.

I must admit I have a really soft spot for her.
She’s a bit of an odd ball

The way everyone is writing, you would think 'ordinary' families were models of family unity.

I have known plenty of families where members have been excluded from weddings as the result of family arguments, feuds, divorce and any other reason you can think off, male and female.

A coronation is only a family do to the extent that, as the continuation of the monarchy depends on the family procreating, so some of them need to be there and to have all four children of the late Queen and the two children of the current King seems proper. Anyone beyond that is just an optional extra - and as Andrew is disgraced and probably only there by sufferance and to keep things tidy for history, why on earth should his divorced wife/current girlfriend be there either. Prince Harry's wife will not be present.

It's not a family do, it's an official occasion.

There was an embarrassing moment on TV when an interviewer asked Sarah about going to the Coronation and she replied that she hadn't had an invite and talked about what she might do on that day, which included watching it on TV. She was very graceful and tactful in her responses.

Maybe she doesn't want to go and that's why she's not invited.

Royal Lodge is a big establishment, and I think Andrew has one end of it and Fergie the other,so in reality they live under the same roof but not together, but who knows? I suppose she is divorced from Andrew, so not invited anymore than Autumn Phillips would be. The Earl of Rutland is very miffed at not being invited - allegedly! So Fergie is not the only one!!

Yes, I know. Sorry

Anniebach Mon 17-Apr-23 11:28:49

She lives with Andrew in a house in Windsor so no going back to her’s, it’s theirs

FannyCornforth Mon 17-Apr-23 11:22:19

Totally agree Yammy, petty really is the word.
I’ve just read that Sarah said that she is looking forward to watching it at home with a cream tea and fizz, and will have Andrew and her daughters back to her’s after the ceremony.

Yammy Sun 16-Apr-23 16:59:04

She's stood by her man through all the sleaze and gossip and awful friends he has had and they can't find her a seat. To me, it sums up what a petty lot the RF really are.
I once had some respect for the RF I was brought up that way, I am now beginning to question.

She reportedly said that she hadn't expected to be invited.

grannygranby Sun 16-Apr-23 11:52:25

yes, her major fault was that on private holiday in Phuket (you couldn't make it up) whilst estranged from the wandering Andrew, she was papped by long-distance lens of her toes being sucked by her financial adviser and her laughing, its not as though she was even doing the sucking! Have to admit I am biased because when my husband was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 1988 she was the only person who publicized the disease and became its patron..decades before it became fashionable to do so. It meant a lot.

I read somewhere that she didn't expect an invite

It seems petty not to ask Fergie to the coronation when her daughters and sons in law will all be there. Strange that she did get invited to the late Queen’s funeral, and had quite a prominent seat, as I recall, suggesting her status as a daughter in law was still respected. I think she is a comical character, an embarrassment in lots of ways, but she has been loyal to the RF, never bad-mouthed any of them, including her awful ex-husband. And as someone pointed out, she could get the seat that was to have been Meghan’s, so it’s not space that’s really the issue!

didn't Charles tick fergie off .... when she was fooling about on the ski slopes with Diana ... perhaps he does not like her

She was great friends with Diana . They went to Andrew's bachelor party dressed as policewomen.
People choose sides in a divorce.

She’s only Duchess because she married a Duke so that doesn’t really mean an awful lot shrug 🤷🏼‍♀️

He's only a Duke because of his Mother.

Would you invite your brothers Ex to a celebration?
How friendly has she been with Charles in the years since her divorce? Doesn't matter that her daughter's are going, or how much contact she had with the late Queen. It is Charles's day and hopefully he is overseeing the invite list.

I can remember the toe sucking incident, it was all over the papers. A huge humiliation for Andrew and hardly the best way to impress your in laws. In addition, Fergie was prepared to sell access to Andrew for a considerable sum of money because she was skint. This 'sting' was shown on TV quite recently. Don't we all want loyalty in our families? I know I do.

I think Andrew is rather good at humiliating himself.

Poor Fergie. She’s been trying so HARD recently. Maybe too hard.

It can't have been easy being married to Andrew; she must love him because although they are divorced they live together.

NanKate Sat 15-Apr-23 15:55:35

I must admit I feel rather sorry for Fergie. The Queen got on with her rather well I believe.

Perhaps there will be a separate invitation to an evening "do" for all the lesser and out of favour royals. That would be some party. I'd go to that - toe-sucking optional.

Ooh yes, of course!

‘The Evening Do’
The cold buffet, bar and disco! 🤩

Where everyone who were there for the real deal have either gone home or are pissed out of their minds

This thread is so confusing. Are the jack russels getting married or the corgis? (I had no idea Fergie had the corgis, have the daily mail run a story in the style of a cruella de vile character?)

They can't invite Fergie when most of the hereditary peers are being excluded because it's a scaled down Coronation.
What a nightmare, it was bad enough organising the guest list for my own daughter's wedding

I wondered if there were any hereditary duchesses so I looked it up. There are only 8 women hereditary titles. Although Scotland is better at letting women inherit.
www.chinet.com/~laura/html/titles08.html#:~:text=There%20are%20currently%20no%20duchesses,viscountesses%20in%20their%20own%20right.&text=Interestingly%20enough%2C%20when%20a%20woman,not%20because%20she%20is%20eldest.
Still it shows how powerful the patriarchy still is. I wonder if spouses of male peers are invited? It's going to be a very male orientated event isn't it?

Bluebell and Beth (they are Camilla’s really. I’m not sure if Charles is a very doggy person )

Charles has long had Jack Russells.

Harry did insist that Auntie Fergie came to his wedding which is a point in his favour. They had to sit separately though.
I thought that when Prince Philip died they would remarry, but apparently not.
Her behaviour was no worse than that of Charles.

Or Diana, orPrincessMargaret if you think about it.
