Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy Glasgow.

I'm a bit later today, my energy levels have taken a dip after a very full on week. I'm struggling just now. What happened to the advice to pace myself? Do you remember the ten spoons advice, that has increased to at least thirty. Someone should advise Dollie that her gran is no longer seven years old!
My spirit is extremely willing, but my body won't do as asked, its such a pain. 😉
Susan, I hope your DD improves and you get a chance to rest.

It's good to hear you had a lovely birthday GM, you sound more settled.

We are off to see Babydoll, but first I need to finish off the Mars Bar cake (their favourite) for the new parents. DD found out and has requested some. I didn't have enough ingredients for the larger amount, so it is a cocktail of anything lurking in my sweetie stash.

Im sorry to hear about those with Covid, a bit concerning for me, as immunocompromised. It's strange, Our surgery stopped the obligatory mask wearing this week, as did the maternity
hospital.

Taichinan, that's great news! My first unconditional was from Stirling, but my mother (a very difficult woman) was having none of it and put her foot down.
However, I was accepted for Glasgow, (my first choice), which was marginally more acceptable. She wanted me to find a job instead!

DD and boys are coming for roast beef around 6ish, no doubt the boys will want to play ker-plunk which is their favourite game at the moment.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Annoyingly I woke at 5 am with a migraine. I popped downstairs to take a triptan and went back to bed. It should be a quiet day today so apart from making dinner later on, I’ll just lie around! Next week will be very busy with my brother and his partner arriving from Australia and my sister and niece returning from their various jaunts.

Marydoll I know of two people in the last week who have caught it. One was at my friend's funeral and messaged us to tell us the news. It must be having a resurgence locally.

Grandmachrisy47 - I confess that’s from May last year - but the same scenario again now with those bl**dy birds. Such loud knocking, it concerns me that they will frighten DGS1 when he’s here, as he’s very wary of strange noises.

Good morning Mick and everyone from overcast, brightish Carlisle.
I've cycled (leisurely!) in the Limburg Mick. We were a tad dismayed to find it was quite so hilly but it should be a good watch this afternoon for you.

Yesterday, out to do a bit of shopping here and there, I popped into the garden centre for my free coffee and some more grass seed. I erred in thinking I would just go and inspect any new stock. I came out with a trolley full of plants, though it was only a small trolley! They are needed but it will take a time to get them in. I made a start on that in the afternoon.

Today I plan a quiet day of reading. I am hoping we will not get a day of warm sun or I will sooner or later be having to get the hose out on the grass seed.

Marydoll my DD was at Glasgow. There's been such a proliferation of universities since those days - DGD has an unconditional from Highlands & Islands and a conditional from Abertay as well.
As for COVID, I think it's here to stay and pockets will spring up here there and everywhere - as *Grandmabatty" says. I have my appointment for my next jab at the beginning of May .....

Well my gardener didn’t come yesterday. He let me down, ignored my phone calls and gave no explanation. I am hopping mad. So now I am back to square one. Hey ho! I have a physio appointment this afternoon for my hip, but apart from that a quiet day. I have some seedlings to pot on so that will keep me busy.

Another successful day in the charity shop yesterday but my goodness we worked for it. I had a super volunteer in the afternoon who helped me clear over fifty bags of donations just so I could keep the floor in the back shop clear as all the large pens were already full. The world and his wife seem to be having a spring cleaning spree and getting rid of the contents of their homes. One man’s rubbish etc.

Today will be fairly quiet, I’ll meet DH for lunch after Mass then we’ll have to do a supermarket run.

We used to holiday a lot in the South West and went to Lydford Gorge a few times. A beautiful area. I remember being blown away by St Petroc's Church and the old Lydford way so beautifully captured in a song by Show of Hands. Went to many of their gigs while down there.

BIL 90th birthday lunch went well and it’s always nice to see the far flung family. He spoke very well about his life and it was quite emotional, reminding me of my late DH his brother and some tales I hadn’t heard before. Then a nice time by the river in Richmond with my DD.
Today to the ballet at Covent Garden and a meet up with my DS for a meal and I then go to spend a couple of nights with her.
Glad you had a nice birthday GMand thoughts to anyone with worries.

I’ve quickly scrolled through your posts hoping I haven’t missed too much.
We have been video chatting with our son in China. We are still hoping to go in July but the Chinese aren’t making it easy as they are prioritising business visas at the moment. I suppose to get their economy going.
He’s desperate to see us and when their baby arrives he wants us to meet him as soon as we can.

Today we have the DS, DD and grandchildren coming for a buffet. We bought some lovely local cheeses in Lincoln last week so we’ll do a cheeseboard as well.

Good morning everyone from a brightish Northampton, at least it's dry. If it stays like this I shall have an outing to the park on the other side of town, as they start their summer programme of music in the bandstand today.

The performer today is an ex-pupil of mine from the 1970s + he is now in his 50s, which makes me feel positively ancient! An accomplished pianist, he went to the Royal Academy of Music, is now a piano teacher and well known local performer. I can look forward to an afternoon of anything ranging from classical to pop and jazz. With a glass of wine or two on the side!

A.good day yesterday at the rugby with a much needed win for my team,.- and home to a welcoming beef casserole, with three portions put aside for the freezer.

I don’t know if this idea will be of any help GrandmaChristy, but have you tried attaching one of those plastic bird of prey silhouettes on your window - they stick on the glass in a similar way to English heritage/National Trust car park stickers do, so no damage to the glass. The other option are those bird of prey flag like things that can be suspended. From a distance they look like the real thing as they move about in any breeze and might scare those crows away.

A sunny morning here, managed to get some washing on the line.

Good morning from a cloudy Somerset. Lovely sunshine here yesterday, a chance to catch-up with some garden jobs but today will see about potting on some seedlings indoors.

I wanted to pass on a tip for those who are having trouble with birds pecking at their reflections in the windows. We had this problem with a greenfinch last year, it was awful, it just never gave up all day long. I looked online and one suggestion was to draw a grid on the inside of the window with a felt tip pen (I used a yellow highlighter pen). As soon as I did this we had no more trouble! It didn’t look too bad being yellow and wiped off easily after a week or so with a piece of kitchen roll. Hope this helps.

Had a good journey yesterday stopping at our favourite place for lunch in the lovely Frodsham. I haven’t read any posts yet, so shall sit on my favourite chair in the window and watch the weather improve! And possibly any boats in the sea. Yesterday a lifeboat dinghy went racing out, didn’t see what to!
Reminds me of when my DS, and her BF and me, we’d driven overnight from Ayrshire to Llandudno to stay with my grandmother. Princess Margaret was coming to the lifeboat station at the bottom of the road to Launch a lifeboat. We all sat in the huge bay window to watch the parade and we all missed it when we fell asleep!!
After I’ve read the posts, we’ll go and have lunch and a Mooch in town
