Crumbs, that was a shock to the system

So many shocks now realising, oh, was that really 50yrs/40yrs ago! It seems to me Christmas arrives every six months now as time is flying by so much faster.
Now that I realise how quickly April has arrived, I am hoping time slows down a bit for us to enjoy long summer months. 🤞

You have just reminded me Kate1949, DH had an Afghan coat and almost shoulder length hair. Both our mothers were not impressed but I thought he looked fab!

When I started work in a bank, I was told there was a ‘marriage gratuity’ of £200 paid to women who got married after working for five years. (Women were not paid pensions back then, yes I know, how weird!)

Five years! They could have told me it was fifty, as it seemed sooo long away.

Now, of course, five years disappears in a flash.

Of course all those threads were to make pleasant, or in my case, interesting conversation. The info in the replies could apparently be misused by some, it does not matter how the question is phrased, does it? All 3 threads that resulted in personaly information given by some, could be misused. And of course, neither were 'phishing' at all.

About 10 years ago an old schoolfriend and I arranged a meet up. We arranged to meet in a pub/restaurant having not seen each other since leaving school.

I took some old photos of us when at school and we had them laid on the table and a young waitress brought our food and said “oh I love photos” I said they were of us when we were at school, she looked at them and said “how long is it since you saw each other?” We both said “40 years” and the look on her face as she said “oh …….. my ……….god”. 😱

Funny no-one has accused kitty of phishing. (and of course she is not- just chatting and observation- with dates which could so easily be used for identification).

I do recommend that anyone who has contributed the year of birth of their children ask for this to be deleted, as it could be used by scammers in a malevolent way.

I remember Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree and sunbathing in the garden
