My dad was in his mid 50s when I was born, this was a second marriage for him, and he was born in 1890 .My mother was 26 when she got married to him and she was born in 1911 . I look at picture from Facebook on the thread for the city dad was born in and marvel that he was alive when they used horse drawn carriages for transporting goods . He never spoke about his young life in fact he hardly spoke to me unless he was angry with me which was often . He really did not want a second family and died when I was not even a teenager . I never missed him .

1914 for my father, who was killed in 1942 before I was born, and 1918 for my mother. My stepfather 1919. Both died in their mid sixties,I've outlived them all by many/several years.

Well mine were each born on their birthday. If we weren’t all anonymous, I’d think this was phishing.

No reason in particular, was discussing this with a couple of friends very recently, and wondered. And of course, no-one has to respond at all.

Same for most threads on here. Just a discussion- and taking part is always, optional, quite clearly.

Grammaretto Tue 18-Apr-23 17:39:06

Mine were the same as the OP. Dad 1912 mum 1915. Both in June. I plant a rose for my mum on her birthday geraniums for dad!
He was born in NZ. She in Burma. It's a wonder they met at all

Foxygloves Tue 18-Apr-23 17:39:20

But a simple Q/A thread is not a discussion is it?

It could be- and no-one has to contribute.

Another thread today is about ACs getting to 50 or 60 being a shock- with many sharing when they were born. What is the difference?

We bucked the trend! It's traditional in our family, maternal g.parents were the same and so am I grin

Fleurpepper Tue 18-Apr-23 17:44:44

Don't want to say- just don't. Simple enough.
