almost good afternoon from a cold windy and bright s somerset

I was dithering this morning, felt in no-mans land, didn`t want to go to a u3a chat in a hall and didn`t want to kill time in wells after an hours bus ride. I set to and cleaned the car with my karcher, it took a while and was satisfying. Then some weeding with a hoe and by then all those cobwebs had blown away.

I do admit that it is sometimes quite hard to think of things to do on a daily basis, unless that includes keeping myself company. After lunch I will be net-scouring looking for hobby groups and classes. I found one that I will return to but that will be mid may. A crafters guild

Good morning all from cool Llandudno
Loooks like you are finding your way around GrandMattie, I, too have an app for the buses in Harrogate which I find very helpful. Though I know Llandudno I would be lost if I relied on the buses here.
Glad you got an Apple battery I wish I had got one Gm
We had a lovely day at Bodnant gardens yesterday. Today will probably go up Llanwrwst and Trefrew Mills.
Have the best day possible folks!

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
I have had a lovely break away in the south for five days.
Firstly my BILs 90th birthday lunch and good to see far flung family, then with my daughter to Cinderella at the Royal Opers Housr, which moved me to tears, so beautiful. My Dsister came into London and with my DD we had a lovely meal at a trendy restaurant nearby.
Then a stay with my Dsister in Surrey and a visit to Charles Darwin’s house in Kent, including a lunch in the sunny and warm garden.
My DD drove us bath back yesterday and I’m tired after roaming around. She is here for five days herself and we will get on with a few things which need attention.

Thoughts to Gingster and her DD and I’m sure you will soon get to grips with a new city GM, capable as you are.

ShazzaKanazza Wed 19-Apr-23 09:59:21

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a bright Hull. It’s the last couple of lovely days before the rain sets in again.
Ashcombe have a lovely holiday on your cruise.

Just a regular Wednesday today I’m going to the gym and later picking up GS from school. DS will have his tea with us. I’ve just prepared the curry sauce so I can prepare it before GS comes as he needs all our attention.

Have a lovely day everyone. Thoughts to those with stress and worry🌻🌻

Stilllearning

Another good morning from S Lanarkshire, back in my own bed for a couple of days before off for a weekend staying with a friend in Seamill, I do love being by the sea.

Lunch in Glasgow today with DGD1, we’ve done this regularly since she started university last year and I really enjoy these times together, fortunately she seems to as well.

Lovely pictures Beechnut, where is that?, I’ve not heard of the Garnergrat railway.

Happy holiday Ash, your itinerary sounds lovely.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Sorry Stilllearning, I spelt it wrong…..it’s Gornergrat and it’s in Switzerland.

Good morning all from a very windy Glasgow but it is dry and sunny.

DH hasn’t been too good for the last few days, very tired and short of breath. We just go with the flow of up and down days. Yesterday proved to be a good day and we spent most of it in glorious sunshine pottering around the garden. DD1 popped in for coffee which always helps to perk him up. As always, seeing ‘his girls’ is the best medicine. He does like seeing me around too though. 😄
Gardeners today and a window company at noon to repair two window handles which won’t open and possibly a new lock for the front door which is a bit temperamental about locking/unlocking.

Hoping a good day is ahead for all

Good Morning , it’s a bit misty here in Co Armagh, but it looks like it will brighten up later
DD debated last night whether to hang out the washing , I said leave it and I’ll do it , but I see she has it on the line already , she had an early start . It is only recently that she has to go into the office
Jab yesterday was so well organised , us older generation seem to be good at keeping appointments on time , I was home before my appointment time . I am so not used to being out on my own ! I scuttled off home without hanging about for a chat .
Club this morning, so I can apologise to the ladies I cut short yesterday
Busses here are rare creatures , one each direction early , and the return is either too short a time to do anything or you need a packed lunch and a good book before you get home , but I’m sure you’ll soon suss it out grandMattie
Nice to read that Babydoll is progressing to the Midwife’s satisfaction

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
I woke up with a headache this morning but as some paracetamol seems to be kicking it into touch, I am shortly off on a planned visit into town. I have a few errands including getting rid of more stuff.
I haven't yet read all your posts but I will just wish Ash and olddudders a lovely trip. I'd quite like to do a river cruise myself but they're radically expensive for one person. I too recommend the Dune de Pylat if you have the chance.

See you all later!

Grammaretto Wed 19-Apr-23 09:08:57

I liked your paperboy story grandmachrissy what a hoot 😊
That's lovely stilllearning
I'm taking one DGD bird watching on the Forth for her birthday present next month. A treat for both of us.

Wyllow3 Wed 19-Apr-23 09:06:32

Morning from a grey S Yorks - sun due this afternoon.

Not many to-do's, a zoom this morning and at some point have a late bag of returns and parcels to be sent to a PO which isn't nearby - always a long queue.

Bests for holidays, grass mowing, appointments and get-togethers. May poorlies have a decent day.

ginny Wed 19-Apr-23 08:40:05

Good morning everyone.
Had a lovely day with brother and SIL . We did a lot of laughing which was great as they have been under a lot of stress for a few years. Unfortunately it is on going but it was good to see them relax for a while.
Nothing planned for this morning, Just some cake to make for tomorrow.DH has gone to golf.
Craft club this afternoon and an on line art class this evening .
Thoughts with all those with troubles and illnesses to cope with.
A good day wished for everyone.

Taichinan Wed 19-Apr-23 08:31:03

Good morning Mick and good morning all. It's a glorious day on the Angus coast with not a cloud in sight. That dreaded haar has decided to leave us alone at last. There was the most beautiful glowing pink sunset last night and the trees in the woods down the road looked so lovely silhouetted against it. Unfortunately I couldn't summon up the energy to go out and take a photo.
What an amusing story about your paperboy knocking at your door Grandmachrisy 😂. Love it!
Enjoy your cruise Ash and Olddudders, sounds special.
What a day grandmattie! You never do anything by halves. You'll be an expert on those buses in no time.
Sensible to take a rest day today Mick. Cold breezes are to be avoided like the plague.
Today I'm off to Perth for a check-up of my hearing aids and to meet an old friend for lunch. It's a lovely drive, whichever way I choose to go, so I'm looking forward to it.
So off I go, sending warm wishes to the poorly and worried - may the sunshine give you the boost you need. Have a good day everybody x

Alygran Wed 19-Apr-23 08:25:08

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s cloudy and a bit chilly today.
I had a lovely walk at Harlow Carr yesterday. The new bridge is open but there is still a lot of work going on.
Today I have a friend coming and we will head up the dale for a short walk and some lunch. Cinema this evening with other friends.
I have some dahlias and begonias to plant so must get on with that at some point.
Have a good day everyone.

Liberty Wed 19-Apr-23 08:19:14

A quick good morning from a dull looking Suffolk. Off to my keep fit class shortly and then my covid booster,my 6th so far. I’m then driving to the nearest big town which has an M&S(still) to collect some bedding I ordered in their recent online sale and a browse around the food hall.

Hope you all have a pleasant day and those doing more interesting things an exciting one. Thoughts with those with worries re their own health or that of others.

Gingster Wed 19-Apr-23 08:17:41

Good morning all and it’s bright and chilly here in Essex.

Have a lovely cruise Ash - it sounds interesting and relaxing.
Susan hope your DD gets on ok with her tests. 🤞.
GM busses and routes get me flummoxed but only because I don’t use them often. You’ll soon get to know your way around. 🤞.
Little gd slept well apart from a little sleep-walk at 10.30. Her eyes were open but sound asleep. I just led her back to bed and she was straight back to sleep. Dd said she’s done that before.😬.
DD’s scan went well. 3 hours in all. Not too bad, with dye being injected and waiting for an hour, for it to spread around the body. Results in 3 or 4 days. 🙏

I’m going to Mass this morning. Dd was coming with me but doesn’t feel too good, so will chillax today.
We haven’t been for a long time. !

Take care all 🌷

I meant to add, I love Seamill, Stilllearning, stayed at the Hydro many times,
Have a great time!

grandMattie

I dohave an app on my phone, but don’t understand how it works… 🤨😂

I'm sure your tech savvy family could assist! I play the helpless old biddie, ( which I'm not really.) 😉

DamaskRose Wed 19-Apr-23 08:10:18

Good morning everybody - DH has just brought me a cup of tea in bed so I’ll be back later!

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, but DH says its a bit cold.

Yesterday's visit to the dentist wasn't as bad as I feared, but I do need two very old fillings replaced. The first available appointment is July!

We are off to visit Babydoll this morning. She has made up most of the weight she lost due to vomiting and the midwife was pleased with her progress yesterday.

Fortuitously, DS's home is very near TKMaxx, so we will make make a detour while DH waits in the car.😉
We had planned to drop off bags at the charity shop next door, (I am quite devious 😉) but because there were so many of them, it was going to be difficult. I have finally got rid of my work clothes, shoes and boots, which I couldn't bear to part with.
I had a brainwave and phoned BHF to see if they had started collecting again, they are coming on Friday. Result.
I have always supported them, due to the fact that they are funding research into my heart condition and the chief researcher is the professor, who admitted me to hospital recently.
For years, many woman have died from this, because it is difficult to diagnose and can be missed without complicated testing. There is no specific treatment, hence the research.
Recently, they have developed a new drug and invited me to trial it.
However, the trialling meant using a treadmill etc, but I was deemed too unwell. 😞

Ash, I'm so envious of your cruise. Some years ago, when I was on a course in Lyons, I could see all the Viking River Cruises boats moored up next to my hotel. The nearest I got to cruising was a River trip to the confluence of the Rhodes and Saune! Have a great time!

GM, good news about your apartment. I enjoy travelling on buses, Thats a good suggestion by Pitt, instal an app on your phone.
Once in Edinburgh, DD and I got hopelessly lost and I was struggling to walk, so we hopped on a bus. Unfortunately it took us even further away from the city centre!

Thinking of all the poorly daughters and praying they improve soon. As mums, we would rather suffer ourselves.

Have a pleasant day, everyone.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.

Hair cut for me this morning, postponed from last week. Unfortunately I've started coughing again and feel that the chest infection hasn't really gone away.

I started on the curtains yesterday and will be glad when I have finished making them. I am not a natural seamstress but do my best.

I hope Wednesday is a good day for you all xxx

harrigran Wed 19-Apr-23 08:03:11

Good morning from the NE where it is sunny and 7 degrees.
Hairdresser was finished by 11am yesterday so took my coffee to the study and did some work on the computer. I got in contact with the solicitor and have an appointment to update my will and arrange POA.
SIL coming today to take me shopping, haven't written a list yet because I don't know how many of the family are coming at the weekend.
Enjoy the cruise Ashcombe.
Well done grandMattie navigating your new area.

monk08 Wed 19-Apr-23 08:01:00

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
Ash I'm envious your cruise sounds wonderful, would love to do a European river cruise DH not keen on the idea although we did the Nile and he very much enjoyed it I'll have to keep working on him have a safe journey.
Grandmachrisy your Dgd has a playful sense of humour.
Nursery pick up today and then I hope to get to the M&S outlet I still have a voucher from xmas to spend.
Enjoy your Wednesday whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

BlueSapphire Wed 19-Apr-23 07:59:10

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞Northampton.
Yesterday was also really sunny but the wind was bitter, as I found out on my health walk in the afternoon, but it was good to be out in the fresh air with good company.

I have neighbours and ex-neighbours coming for coffee and cake this morning; just got to run the hoover over the sitting room carpet, organise the mugs etc for coffee and get the cakes ready - coffee and walnut, home-made teabread, and dark chocolate ginger biscuits.

Late afternoon DD arrives for dinner, then we are out for what will be our last ladies' wine evening. We have reluctantly decided to close this long-running institution which has been going since the 1970s. Mainly due to transport problems getting to each others' houses. Our menfolk used to taxi us to and from, but age and ill health is catching up with us all. A sad evening ahead, but with hopes that we'll be able to meet up occasionally for a dinner out. I have booked a taxi for four of us tonight.

DD will stay overnight, and head off into work tomorrow morning.

Wishing all a good day ahead.
