Shampoo bars

I have White Hot Hair shampoo bars. They're ideal for taking away on holiday.

My hair doesn’t like them, despite being instructed by friends that I must be “not using them properly” or “not rinsing properly” or “using the wrong one”.
The best I’ve tried is one by l’Occitane, but it’s expensive.

Gruum works well for me.

I haven’t tried them because I have long hair and imagine that they would end up with hairs stuck to them and wound round them after use.

I've been using the £1 for ages. I have long hair and there aren't any hairs on it. However when I gave one to my GCs to use whilst we were on holiday it got used up very quickly . I think using it more than once a day means it gets very soft and it dissolves quicker. So maybe not good for family use.

No, I use Elvive Low Shampoo - sulphate free with built in conditioner and it costs about £6. But it leaves my bleached blonde hair soft and shiny and lasts for about 6 - 8 weeks. It really is a miracle product and I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t use it!

Bar soaps are making a comeback! Too much plastic in our world, people are becoming very aware of that and looking for ways to transition away from bottles.

My favorite brand is French - A La Maison (de Provence). If I can get it here, I’m sure you can find it there. The bars last a long time and are not expensive.

I should have mentioned - they are bath & body soaps. I do not use them for shampooing. I should look into bars for just that.

I tried the grrum bar of shampoo and loved how it made my hair feel. Unfortunately, it made my head itch. This post has inspired me to try a different make.
I can use most products but occasionally I react badly to some. I was given a soap and glory gift set once, but the product I tried from the gift set made me itch, so I gave it back to the person who gifted it to me. She luckily understood and took it gratefully as she loves soap and glory products.

Not a fan of shampoo bars, always seem to stay soggy.

Yes use one when at home. I must get a soap box to use for swimming sessions. I will keep last segment for travel so can dump.... great to have one less thing in 'liquids' bag.

I think I'd be wary of the Alberto Balsalm one stripping my colour out, as the oil conditioner used to do.

They last ages and lather very well. I don’t use a conditioner and my hairdresser always says my hair is in very good condition.
There are no chemicals in them so I presume they don’t strip all the natural moisture from your hair.

I've had a couple of kin kind ones I initially got for holidays but now use any time . must be better than all those plastic bottles.

Yes I like the shampoo bars too.

Yes I've used these for ages. Gentle on my hair and often made without a lot of chemicals. I use them from "The Good Soap" (small Welsh company). No conditioner needed and very economical in use. I also do a (once-weekly) apple-cider rinse, using Aldi's "proper" apple cider. (I mix this apple-cider with water, to make the rinse. Again, it's cheap!) DH uses the shampoo bar too.

Atm I only use bars for my gym and swimming days , very convenient.

Was glad to wash with my liquid shampoo and conditioner when I returned home.

I have yet find one I can use at home as I need to condition well, my hair is very dry.

I will check out the Garnier bars.

I had some but found them drying so now use an olive oil shampoo with no nasties in it. I don’t use conditioner as that would negate the qualities of the olive oil.

Yes I’ve used them …the shampoo is great but the conditioner I couldn’t get on with.

I tried a couple and also a conditioning bar but unfortunately they left my dry hair even dryer so I went back to traditional shampoo and conditioner. Such a pity as they are economical and very handy to take away.

I have been using shampoo bars for quite a while now. I have short hair & they last for ages. I do not need to use a conditioner. I started off using one from the Cosy Cottage company but I now use ones from a company local to me (Bristol) called Wild Grove. She has an online presence & also sells at local markets.

Haven’t used them yet, but have got one in my luggage to take to Spain with me tomorrow. I’ll report back. (So pleased to be leaving this rain behind! 🙄)

I've been using Biovene shampoo and conditioner bars. they come in several varieties and are available from justmylook.com

I had some from Lush but my sensitive skin reacted very badly.

I'm waiting until my shampoo, conditioner etc comes out by the company I use. I use the one my hairdresser does. I don't want to change. My hair is in too good a condition.

No it's not eco. However there are 100s of ways I am eco and in areas most of you won't expect so I won't feel too guilty.

Besides the shampoo etc I use is pretty much chemical free anyway
