Good morning all from a brightening North Leicestershire.

We arr off to Leamington Spa today for lunch with an old friend from Birmingham University. First time we have seen them since last summer. Really looking forward to it.

Hoping everyone has the very best day possible.

Good morning from here where its another gloriously sunny morning. Fortifying myself with a giant cuppa and 2 paracetamol as I have woken up with a "head" and backache. The latter from tackling the jungle I politely refer to as the garden and the former from the very large rhubarb gin and tonic I rewarded myself with.
Felt quite down recently - no idea why or indeed justification - but hope that a trip to Welsh National Touring Opera's 'Magic Flute' tonight will address that. Booster jab tomorrow (oh the excitement) and hoping Amazon will deliver a new remote for the TV so that I can watch more than terrestrial. Somebody was a VERY bad dog yesterday and got a serious shouting . You'd think she could tell the difference between a remote and a bone - I suppose it makes a change from my hairbrush.
GM I do feel for you - the move, a new place, the frustrations plus the vagaries of public transport. Its all too much. Does Bristol have the equivalent of an A-Z? And do you have the Uber app on your phone? Honestly not that extravagant or expensive in cities and worth it for your peace of mind and safety. I think it is important to feel in control of your life and the events of the past year have very much undermined that independence. Once you are in your own flat you can build that up again. However kind our children, we do not like to feel dependent.
Oh Alygran I have happy memories of a weekend break in Masham, its lovely square and the Kings Head where we had a 4 poster bed and en suite jacuzzi bath which I blocked up with a red white and blue glitter bath bomb from Lush. The embarrassment (and hilarity) of explaining at Reception.
Happy days - I wish those to you all too.

Good morning all from a sunny, but chilly Glasgow, where it's 3°C.
Like Corner, despite a very busy day yesterday and feeling exhausted, I had a poor night's sleep.
Yesterday included a visit to the surgery, shopping, picking up prescriptions and a long visit with with babydoll.
Babydoll is still having stomach issues and needs topped up with expressed milk.
Yesterday, I was asked if I would like to feed her, while DIL had a shower. How could I refuse? I am in love! 😍
I couldn't believe how nervous I was!

I hope to spend some time in the garden today, after I have completed part one of the Swedish death clean, in preparation for the BHF pick up tomorrow.

GM, hopefully today is a better day for you.
Best wishes for your hospital appointment Baubles.
Gingster, I understand how you feel. I always sit in a quiet corner of the church, because I'm CEV, yet despite there being many empty seats, someone inevitably sits beside me. Why?

Topsy 👋

Wishing you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

Grammaretto Thu 20-Apr-23 08:13:00

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Cold and dull so far.

My DM used to say These things are sent to try us gMattie and Gingster
I wonder if there are GN grans in Bristol to meet with? Or someone at church?
A problem shared and all that.

Yoga today and a U3A meeting unless I visit DMiL in hospital. I'll phone soon to hear how she's doing

Have the best day all of you.

Sunny Suffolk but I suspect the chilly wind of yesterday will reappear.

HopeGM after your understandably stressful and tiring day yesterday today is more peaceful. Also for others with similar feelings.

Apart from a sore arm and feeling a bit tired I haven’t any other symptoms from my COVID jab yesterday. Before having it,I did check though that it wasn’t made in Russia!! I remember that one of the earliest ones was, called Sputnik I think or was that a joke in those very worrying times.

Today after my stretch class I’m meeting a dear friend for a walk and then lunch. What nicer than a stroll in the sunshine chatting away and laughing a great deal with a friend of a similar age whose exploits in the 60s and 70s were very similar to one’s own although many miles apart.

Hope all find something to smile about today.

Good morning all from another glorious morning on the Angus coast. I could get used to this! We had another beautiful sunset yesterday evening so I went out and took a photo for you. We do do sunsets here!
Grandmattie listen to grannygravy - slow down! It's all horribly frustrating for you but best not to make yourself ill. Is there a quiet park anywhere near where you can walk slowly and breath gently? Remember Keat's words - What is this world if full of care we take no time to stand and stare.
Karma I know just how you feel and you express it so well. I feel very 'left behind' and 'surplus to requirements' sometimes as ACs and GCs race on in their busy lives - in a parallel universe indeed.
I had a lovely drive over to Perth yesterday. I went via Dundee with its drive along the river but returned on the cross-country rural roads parallel to the hills to avoid Dundee's rush hour. The homeward journey was accompanied by a telephone call with DS2 while he was in his way home from work in Lincolnshire - all 'hands free' thanks to my Bluetooth hearing aids. (It's really the only time I can hear everything that's said to me - in the past in a noisy family situation I have been known to give up trying to hear and said 'oh just phone me!')
In Perth I had a lovely nattery lunch with a friend and a useful consultation with the hearing aid specialist, so really a perfect day
Today it's tai chi again, but then nothing else but sit by the pond and feed the fish in the sunshine 🤞🌞
Have a good day everyone x

Morning everyone. Yesterday our next door neighbour 80+ locked herself out of her house and also realised she had left her other key on the inside of the lock. Could our grandson climb up a ladder to get into an upstairs window?
Also did not have her phone.
DgS at school so DH went up our ladder to open window. Very naughty he is 80 this year.would not be told.
In the end her B iL came and we managed to open the door!
Such excitement.
Today much tidying up. DGC x2 coming home this pm and DD after her shift.
Managed to get DH back into his emails so he can be on computer.
Between the 2 of us we just cope with modern life. But only just.
DGS might be able to take over the car soon. He's 16.
GM I have bought a little back up battery for my phone that I keep in my bag. Very useful at times.

Morning all from a sunny West Oxfordshire. Last night’s WI puddings and Prosecco evening was fun! Towards the end my brother rang to say he and his partner had landed at Heathrow and were in their hotel! I will pick them up today from Oxford. He sounded cheerful but tired. He hasn’t been in the UK since 2017 but I was in Australia for his daughter’s wedding in December 2019. My sister and niece will be back from visits to various relatives and friends tomorrow, but staying in a nearby air b n b. Oh, younger son is arriving tomorrow as well for a long weekend. OH still has his dreadful cough so will try and keep out of everyone’s way! Have a good day. GM - what a star you’re being🌹

harrigran Thu 20-Apr-23 08:31:13

Good morning from a dry NE where it is 7 degrees.
SIL and I got the shopping done before lunch and he did some odd jobs in the garden. We had a short walk around the estate while the weather was still pleasant before returning to prepare dinner. We had chicken parmigiana and I stuffed peppers to serve with it. TBH I felt stuffed afterwards.
Quiet day for me, think I will catch up on some reading.
Thinking of you grandMattie, not sure I could cope with such a big change in my life, congratulations on getting out there and doing it.
Have a good day all

Georgesgran Thu 20-Apr-23 08:36:26

Multicolouredswapshop you’ve posted ‘today’ on an old GM thread. Perhaps that’s why your posts are being lost?

EkwaNimitee Thu 20-Apr-23 08:38:58

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.

My errands were successfully run yesterday but what a cold wind there was! Easterly, as often happens at this time of year.
I avoided the temptation, just, of the piles of yummy looking choc bars in the Oxfam bookshop but couldn't resist buying an interesting looking book in Waterstones where I had only gone to buy a gift card. I'm supposed to be reducing my book store not adding to it!
The afternoon was largely spent re-potting my cacti collection, a tricky operation. I've still got the biggies to do...

Today, the ironing and another go at tidying the paperwork in my office. I shall undoubtedly be out in the garden at some point making the best of the lovely sun whilst we have it.

I don't think we shall relax till you are moved grandMattie, they are unnecessarily making life stressful for you to the last.

Good words karma, I never want to burden my AC with any concerns or worries even though they are very willing to help out. They have very busy lives and must prioritise their families. I wouldn't have it otherwise.

Feeling envious Ashcombe! Bon voyage!

And the best of days to you all.

Marydoll Thu 20-Apr-23 08:44:38

I have contacted multi to point her in the right direction.

GM, I keep a small power bank in my bag, in case my phone runs out of battery. They are not expensive.

grandMattie Thu 20-Apr-23 08:54:22

Thank you for your advice. I’ll get a power pack and try to pin down someone for the Über app. I don’t like imposing. X

Good morning once more my friends

Georgesgran Thu 20-Apr-23 09:00:39

Good morning from Durham, where a sunny day with 13degrees is forecast.
Awaiting a call from Boots re DD2’s prescription, then I’ll collect the meds and drop them off at her work.
Not sure how to entertain myself for the rest of the day yet. I have plans I keep putting off, then moaning about the delays!
Can they find any more hoops for you to jump through gM it must be so frustrating?
Best wishes to all. X

BlueSapphire Thu 20-Apr-23 09:00:42

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton.
A busy day yesterday, my neighbours' coffee mornig, a Sainsbury's delivery and then out in the evening to the last meeting of our ladies' wine group - a sad occasion, but we are planning on meeting for a meal out during the summer. DD arrived for dinner and then stayed here overnight, and has already.gone to work.

My birthday today, so am taking myself out for lunch and shopping. Don't want to stay in on my own!

Hope today goes well for all.

multicolourswapshop Thu 20-Apr-23 09:01:46

Good morning from the beautiful east coast of Fife where the suns shining and all is well

Marydoll Thu 20-Apr-23 09:05:54

Great to see you, multi!

Caramme Thu 20-Apr-23 09:05:56

Good morning from Cheshire where it is glorious this morning - clear blue sky and that dratted wind has dropped a little. It’s still cool but I have hopes it will warm up later. It’s so lovely outside that it immediately lifted my mood.
If only it would last. We are off to N Wales for the weekend so not quite sure what to pack. Here we are towards the end of April and I am still in winter layers topped by a warm jumper. Not got the heating on though so that’s a win. I am going to change the beds and get a satisfying line of washing out. My daughter and her partner are coming for dinner tonight so looking forward to that. A little bit nervous though. He is a fabulous cook while I am a reasonable baker but not so good at main meals. The last time they came I completely messed up a roast. Fingers crossed I produce something acceptable tonight.

Marydoll Thu 20-Apr-23 09:06:52

Happy birthday, BlueSapphire!

Stilllearning Thu 20-Apr-23 09:07:47

Morning from, as baubles said, bright but cold S Lanarkshire.
I can never decide what to wear when it’s like this.

Lovely lunch with DGD yesterday, another month to go and first year finished. She and three friends have managed to find a decent flat for next year, they have to take it from June but at least that’s one worry settled. She says it’s the first one they’ve seen which had no mould!

grandMattie you sound as though you’re at the end of your tether. Getting lost would be the last straw. Maybe try taxis for essential journeys just now, keep buses for casual trips when you’re not stressed and getting a bit lost doesn’t matter.
I hope today is better.

Gingster, I’m glad you found a welcoming church, it sounds just what you needed💐

House work and perhaps a coffee with friends this afternoon, I hope we all have a pleasant day.

ShazzaKanazza Thu 20-Apr-23 09:08:42

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a lovely Hull morning.

I am just taking cushions apart to wash the covers and get them on the line. I’m still getting to grips with my new washer.
I think I may do a Pilates recording in an hour as I’ve just finished my breakfast. I like doing a recording where I can put in my own moves if she does one I don’t like.
Later I’ll pick GS up from school. DH is going to cut DDs grass. She’s so busy and had to employ the services of a cleaner yesterday. My son in law is due home from sea next week after 3 months so they are all excited to see him.

Dear grandMattie you will be soon settled in your new home. You are so proactive I admire you so much💐💐

I hope you have a lovely day. You are all in my thoughts 🌻🌻

aggie Thu 20-Apr-23 09:20:55

Good Morning from sunny Co Armagh
Just been out to take geraniums out of the greenhouse , we are hardening them off , I think it’s too early to plant them out , DD is champing at the bit !
grandMattie I was told I needed to ask my lot for help , they were so used to me bossing them about and being the “ go to “ that it took a bit of getting used to me needing help ! It’s good to be independent , but help is gladly given when we ask . You have been so much this last year and done wonderfully well xxx
Marydoll I love that cuddly baby feeding in my arms , but the last time I was asked to hold a wee one I nearly refused I was so overwhelmed!
