The Most Famous Man/Woman In The World.

Interesting. I’m giving it much thought…
It’s notable that we lost three of the most people close together last year - The Queen, The Pope and Pele.
Also, yesterday I was listening to Ma’am Darling by Craig Brown (again).
Apparently in 1984 (in Tatler, I think) Boy George was voted the most famous person in Britain, followed by Her Majesty.

For me Churchill, Europe might have become a very different place without his leadership.

Fame or Infamy, those that get the most publicity include Trump, Biden, Xi, King Charles, Prince Harry, Zelensky, Putin, it all depends who influences your life.

Presumably, your referring to the late Queen in terms of "used to be the most famous", means that you're looking for candidates who are still with us. The Obamas have consistently emerged as "the most admired" in surveys in recent years, but that doesn't really equate to "most famous", particularly as they aren't so much in the public eye these days. Trump? If it was "infamous" we're looking for, he'd certainly be a front-runner, along with Putin. The poisonous, arrested adolescent Harry would also be up there with them in my book. Famous? Sorry, but I'm really struggling here. Sad that I find it easier to define the baddies. A reflection of the current state of the world in which we are living? If we extend it to those who have passed, yes, the late Queen would be my choice, probably along with JFK.

I should imagine David Attenborough is well known around the world for his travels, books and documentaries over many decades. Does that make him famous?

Currently, I would say Elon Musk.

I guess who is most famous to some depends on their age and interests...
My children and grandchildren would definitely have a different name in the hat to me!

President Zelensky was the first person that sprung to my mind as famous in a good way.

All the others probably come under the infamous category.

Einstein came up with a theory that is still used today and has yet to be disputed I think it is probably used worldwide.

Very dependent on where you live and who resonates with any individual or is on their radar. Who we perceive at our age as famous, there will be those who won't have heard of them, conversely there will be so called "influencers" and such like who might assume great importance with maybe one demographic, but personally no idea! One would imagine that world leaders, particularly those who past and present have or do present a threat would at least be known through notiariaty, but I wouldn't bank on that.

I think that in this case famous could equal recognisable.
So Einstein is a very good shout.
Like Hitler, Gandhi or the Queen. A strong image.

The most 'searched for' person on the internet is Andrew Tate so in that respect he is the most famous. Many older folk won't even have heard of him but teenage boys all know him, and girls are feeling the effects of his misogynistic teachings along with female teachers. Schools are actually holding anti-Tate classes for the youngsters. This is of course relative to now and not to people who are long gone.

I think the reason Zelensky has been mooted here is because he is a brave man, a David to Putin's Goliath and the world loves a hero. I think we worry about his personal safety for both him and his family. I'm inclined to agree with Fanny, whilst we will find him very recognisable, I'm not sure that would be the case on a world stage depending on cultural and other differences, what do they think of him in for example in say, India or a country in Africa where there are umpteen different strata of society, who they revere or hate maybe a person/people unknown to us.

I think possibly there is a subliminal desire to look towards someone who is heroic rather than people who are famous for nothing in particular, and for fatuous reasons and god knows we have enough of those. .

I'm not sure how many of the younger generation would have heard of Einstein ether!

Why? He sings nicely and I'm sure he's a lovely man but ?
