A Happy May Day to you all.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Happy 1st May. My new tortortoise is safely in her pen, and I am trying to get up energy to go in the shower. Cloudy here, but quite warm. I have fibro and my wonderful partner is hoovering. One in a million! Have a happy day all.

Good morning all. Very late this morning - I must have needed that sleep! - but I can report that there are patches of blue amongst the dark grey on the Angus coast today and I have just moved myself into a shaft of sunlight as I write.
Lovely day with family in Perth yesterday. Dancing GD is off to dance with the National Youth Dance Company of Scotland in Estonia on Wednesday and is beyond excited. I wish her a wonderful time and experience. There are a series of events round Britain (the first was in Inverness) over the summer culminating in the Edinburgh Fringe so an amazing time ahead for her.
My car broke down on the way home from Perth! Just a couple of miles from home, so I was 'lucky'. I left the main road and took to the miriad of little side roads round here, all gently sloping towards the house, to see if I could nurse it home - but no. The clutch has now officially "gone". Thank goodness for the AA although I had a two hour wait while they hunted for me! Various lovely people drew up adjacent to the car (very adjacent - these are narrow lanes) to see if I needed help and I had some lovely chats with people who live in places nearby I never knew existed. Anyway, when my garage mannie gets back to work after the holiday weekend he will find my immovable car on his doorstep a couple of days early - it was booked in for Wednesday. These things are sent to try us, as they say.
I shall now get myself another cup of coffee and read all your posts. Have a good holiday Monday x

Good morning and happy May Day. As forecast, the sun is now shielding behind a lot of grey cloud. We are getting ready for our journey to Scotland where we will spend the month at our flat in East Lothian and touring the north-west coast in our campervan. We did the now famous NorthCoast500 route in 2016, not knowing until my sister mentioned that it was being promoted as such. But time constraints made us cut off a couple of loops in the west so we want to ‘do’ the road across to Applecross and then north to Lochinver.

We had a lovely walk on the other side of the downs from us, visiting our favourite bluebell wood. I will try to post a photo.

Hope for news of Marydoll. All the best with your moving in Grandmattie.

Good Morning all from Bright but cloudy Harrogate.Good Luck getting the part Ashcombe I used to love watching Dad's Army.
We are missing you Marydoll hope you'll be back with us soon.Mick enjoy your quiet day. My day will be quiet - apart from phoning my school friend this morning, then my sisters this afternoon. I tried to organise a direct debit yesterday but got a message I had to do it on the App!! Downloading the app turned out to be a load of fun and I don't think - still not done, they were asking for passwords I haven't invented! Passwords are the bane of my life!!
Obviously won't get it done today being a bank holiday!

Have the best day possible folks

Good morning all - have we all been out to bathe our faces in the morning dew to guarantee eternal beauty?
No me neither, so that’s my excuse for the bags under the eyes and wrinkles.
DH always used to present me with a little bunch of lily of the valley muguet des bois on the 1st of May.
Yesterday turned out better than I expected, a friend rang suggesting a walk and we spent the afternoon in the beautiful grounds of Delapré Abbey in Northampton, the dog appreciated the change of walkies too.
Maypole dancing at 11 ion our village green so the dog and I will wander round and greet a few familiar faces.
flowers to Glamma and anybody else with poignant anniversaries and my best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Good morning and May Day from the northwest coast
On my way to London for the first leg of my Orient Express trip with DD, hoping I have everything I need, goodness knows I have checked it all enough…
Mick our Morris Dancers feel too old and decrepit to dance around today 🥲
Thoughts to all with worries

Sar53 Mon 01-May-23 09:28:54

Good morning from Essex by the sea. The sun can't decide whether or not it is going to shine today.
DH has gone for a quick trip to the boat then we are going to his eldest daughter this afternoon.
Thinking of you Gingster, much love xx
I hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday Monday xxx

luluaugust Mon 01-May-23 09:26:17

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Yesterday was quite productive with lots of china washing and I am going to part with a few mugs and cups and rearrange the shelves today, it doesn't sound much but I think it will be enough for me, the covid jab on Saturday has left a large red patch on my arm which is very painful.
Good luck gM for tomorrow.
Fingers crossed Ash
I also hope Marydoll is ok.
Best wishes to all

Good morning everyone from a grey but dry Northampton.

Mick, the Brackley Morris Men have just been on BBC Radio Northampton! They are now in the pub, having a full English and no doubt a pint, having been dancing since before 6am. They will soon be off to a couple of care homes to entertain the residents.

I enjoyed the 'Harod Fry' film yesterday, but thinking I had read the book several years ago, the story rang no belks, so perhaps I'm getting confused with a different book.

Hoping to get a bit of gardening done today, but showers are forecast later on, so we shall see.

Have a pleasant Mayday everyone.

EkwaNimitee Mon 01-May-23 09:10:28

And I hope you are OK Marydoll, best wishes

dustyangel Mon 01-May-23 09:10:19

Oopsadaisy a few tears might have been shed.

EkwaNimitee Mon 01-May-23 09:07:26

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, cool Carlisle.
It rained on and off all yesterday so no getting out for a walk or gardening. We had about an hour of sun in the late afternoon, just to show there still was one I suppose....
It was a day spent reading and doing admin, then some sorting out of clothes for the charity shop including some barely worn black trousers. They turned out to be 'ankle grazers' when they arrived, a trend I loath, but I thought I ought to try and like them. I can't, I still think they look silly! DH used to have some saying about 'inviting your trousers down to party with your feet' whenever I put on a pair of too short trousers. Always remember it when I try these things!
Today I'd like to get outside to do something, gardening preferably but it's going to be a usual Monday for me, the laundry is ready to go in the washer and some cleaning may occur. Trips out are best left to when others have gone back to work or school.

Have the best possible day all.

Yes indeed Ashcombe it was Ramslade which was closed for a lot of the time we were there as it was undergoing a complete overhaul/refurbishment. As assistant wardens we lived on site in our touring caravan on what was literally a building site. We escaped from the madness by thoroughly investigating Torbay, such a lovely area, so many beautiful sights. Loved our time in the South West.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 01-May-23 08:53:42

Morning all

The sun is trying hard to come out. I shall have a lazy day, no GC for the first time in four days.

We are meeting friends for dinner this evening (The posh Turkish very near me Gingster couldn’t persuade them to try the one near you 🤣)

Enjoy May Day folks 🐇🐇🐇 🙋‍♀️🦩

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 01-May-23 08:52:32

Burst, not bust!!

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 01-May-23 08:52:09

Dustyangel what a lovely surprise, I still remember my 50th birthday, just out of hospital I saw MrOops car come into the driveway, when I opened the door, my lovely Mum was on the doorstep, he had taken the day off to go down to collect her. Of course I promptly bust into tears…

Still makes me weep when I remember it.

ShazzaKanazza Mon 01-May-23 08:51:25

Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull it’s dry and bright.

We have been in the garden a lot this weekend and went to the garden nursery to buy lots of lovely variegated evergreens and golden euonymus to dot around the garden. We are keeping away from bedding plants in pots as we are hoping to go to China for a few weeks.
We are expecting to see the DC and GC at some point today. The little ladies are excited to have their daddy home again.

Ash good luck with Dads Army 🤞 your photos are lovely and very atmospheric.

grandMattie all my best wishes for your move this week. 💐

Wishing everyone a lovely Mayday with trips out, lovely walks and family and friends. 🌻🌻

Susan56 Mon 01-May-23 08:50:52

What a lovely surprise dusty☺️

Wyllow3 Mon 01-May-23 08:50:50

Morning all from a rather overcast S Yorks.

I've over done it yesterday and twigged my back - it hurts to walk - so a day of rest here reading and maybe some sewing.

Lovely time, Cornergran and glad its "nearly there" time GrandMattie

Happy May 1st all. Its always been big - as children parents celebrated International Worker's Day (no maypoles, we were very urban) and for me it heralds my favourite month -just hope we get the weather to go with....bedding plants in, the beechwoods out and the bluebells.

GrannySomerset Mon 01-May-23 08:50:00

Gardener due for an extended stint this morning because we are not quite on top of the rampant growth in the borders, something I can no longer manage. DD due later in the day for an overnight stay on her way to work in Salisbury tomorrow so must get organised. I lost yesterday - having got myself ready to go to church I felt dreadful and so had a very quiet day. Seem to be more or less OK this morning so have no idea what was going on, but hope it doesn’t recur.

Hope Grammaretto has recovered from yesterday’s shock and that the problem is solvable. Wishing everyone a cheerful bank holiday.
