Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dry but cloudy start here in brackley this morning .
Today usually sees the Morris men on the Piazza outside the Town Hall who are probably performing now.
Today an easy maybe a small shop later but a quiet day in otherwise .
Take Care,
Mick

White rabbits 🐇🐇 from Bristol. It is overcast, but promising to max at 17C today.
Finished altering the curtains yesterday, after going to church. I took offa velvet trim all along one side of each curtain, a bit too much IMO. Quiet day otherwise. Bunnies behaved.
I’m doing a load of washing, so as to have off the line by the time the family returns around lunchtime.
Planning to go to the flat to unpack (or rather SiL to…) the fridge/freezer and switch it on, probably put the contents of my cold bag in there, + plus milk and a few bits too in readiness for my move tomorrow or Wednesday.
May you find peace, love, hope in your lives today. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Good morning from a dry spot in Wiltshire, hope you all have a lovely day.
Good luck with the move grandMattie, you must be so looking forward to settling down in your new home 🤗
Yesterday apart from getting the ironing done and vacuuming through I didn’t do much until a nice dog walk later with a friend. I probably overdid it on Friday as was so cold and tired by late afternoon that I lit the log burner.
Today some more bits in the garden with dh’s help and hopefully it will be done!
Looking forward to sitting and enjoying the results 😊

Good morning from a dry Torbay with the possibility of sunshine later.

Yesterday I attended an audition for Dad’s Army, our summer production this year. There are some minor female rôles for the Mum's Army episode.

Later we walked over the Downs where the harr created this rather ethereal view, which reminded me of the long white clouds of New Zealand.

Enjoy May Day, whatever it brings! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from a dull South Downs , but it is May Day - the best day of the year - every season to look forward to with happy anticipation - late spring, summer and autumn - all glorious in their own way. I hope you all went out to wash your beautiful face in the early morning dew🙂.

Yesterday whilst out walking a dog fox was sat sunning himself and watching us as we walked across a field. He was quite content and relaxed, looking in really good condition which was heartening to see. All I had was some bird nuts, so I left them on a tree stump for him.

Still gardening and planting. This year I’m going to plant more dahlias, as I want bright colours. My borders have a lot of blue -Delphs, lavender, salvias, etc, and pinks roses etc , so shots of colour will be good I think. But I must remember to plant for the insects so the dahlias will be largely singles. I was looking at a photo taken on 2May in 2020 and all the roses are out - this year they are still in tight bud.

Today we are having toad in the hole which we haven’t eaten since the children grew up I think😄. Might pick one of the Duncan cabbages to eat with it and perhaps baked beans. Funny mixture.

Happy May Day to all . I'll be remembering my lovely mum today, Mayday was an important date or all the mill and factory workers with joyful celebrations, decorating the Maypole and getting dressed up to go out for the day to the sea or countryside, she loved it. Hope everyone finds a happy or joyful moment today.

cornergran Mon 01-May-23 06:49:28

Morning Mick, morning All. It seems another dry day ahead.

More sandcastle building yesterday, teenagers joining in with gusto My space commandeered I loved enjoying watching this very traditional pastime, not a phone in sight. Hooray.

They are all off home at various times today. Our Littlest will be in tears when his big cousins leave and there will be more tears when he leaves. He hates goodbyes. It’s been a magical (and miraculous!) few days with everyone happy and not an argument to be heard. It will seem very quiet this evening. We’ll get stuck into clearing up and sorting out. Will we mind? Not at all.

Wishing you well for your moving in day grandmattie.

Take care everyone. Hope Monday is kind to us all

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Big fluffy white rabbits. I had a chat with my brother yesterday. He and his partner are enjoying their trip to Devon and are off to Cornwall today to stay with friends. I sent him a photograph I had taken of a postbox built into a wall with VR on it. This was in the next village. He was fascinated. I will be mainly doing laundry and shopping today. I will also be collecting some new bedding from Habitat via Argos who have a department in my local Sainsbury’s. I’ve always liked Habitat, although I don’t think they have actual shops anymore. Have a good day… gosh GM, you are nearly there!

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a rather dreary South Yorkshire and Happy May Day!
My back was killing me yesterday and I had to resort to painkillers. It feels a lot better today, so I will go for a walk later. I did manage to get some seedlings potted on before the rain came yesterday. Whitewave I am also growing bedding dahlias this year - they make such a good show.
Corner I’m glad the seaside adventure went well! You’ll miss them all. Have a safe drive home.
Have the best day you can folks!

Grandmabatty Mon 01-May-23 07:26:50

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and sunny. A welcome change. Ash were you going for a part or part of the audition team? Cornergran what a lovely weekend for everyone.
Yesterday I spent mostly in the kitchen. It passed the time as the weather wasn't good.
Happy May Day today. I'm planning on being in the garden today, just tidying up. Roast chicken later for dinner. Have a good day all.

Abitbarmy Mon 01-May-23 07:32:38

Good morning all from a dry and sunny North Yorkshire. I think I’m now fully recovered from 5 days away with DGd, not sure why it was so tiring when I’m always on the go at home but it was. I’m now missing her and looking forward to our usual day with her on Wednesday. Stuff to do on the allotment today, need to somehow make good all the bird netting so the bushes don’t get stripped like last year. More washing also and tidying of the flower borders here at home. Hope Marydoll is ok and I think we’ll all breathe a sigh or relief when you’re finally installed GM. Hope everyone has a good MayDay.

Alygran Mon 01-May-23 07:32:58

Good morning and happy May Day from North Yorkshire.
A lovely bright start.
I’m off walking with a friend today, the first person I will have seen all weekend. It’s been very quiet.
I hope the move goes well tomorrow GM
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Happy International Workers’ Day. No holiday for this worker, business as usual.

It’s also the birthday of one of my GC. A special day in so many ways, a day of beginnings as ww2 expressed beautifully.

We had lunch at our usual Sunday café yesterday but were joined by DD and three children who then came back to our house for a couple of hours. SiL and DGD are planning their visit to Dublin to watch their rugby team after seeing them win in Wales on Saturday. It was a long drive down and back but their high spirits kept them going.

Have the best day possible, whatever you are doing.

kittylester Mon 01-May-23 07:38:10

Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.

Not much happening here today though I do need to pop out and buy salad stuff. And ring my sister in law.

Have the best day possible all.

Ashcombe Mon 01-May-23 07:40:29

Grandmabatty: I hope to be offered a small part in the Mum's Army episode - Mrs. Fox or Mrs. Pike, who was the mother of the “stupid boy” and close friend (!) of Sgt. Wilson. I’ll keep you all posted when the director lets us know.

Ashcombe Mon 01-May-23 07:42:00

This was the episode:-https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00cyl2y/dads-army-series-4-9-mums-army

Grandmabatty Mon 01-May-23 07:44:08

Ash fingers crossed for you!

NanKate Mon 01-May-23 07:44:54

Good morning Mick and All.

My mum always looked forward to May Day and dancing round the maypole. I think all the children then had a picnic which consisted of an apple and a drink ! 👒 I can’t find a maypole so here’s a pretty hat she might have worn.

Starting to make preparations for our small Coronation Party on Saturday. Three friends will be joining us for the ceremony and then a picnic style lunch, thanks to M and S.

karmalady Mon 01-May-23 07:52:18

Good morning on may 1st. S somerset ground is sodden as it rained a lot yesterday and overnight, muddy puddles will be in potholes. It should be nice here today, it will feel like a greenhouse outside later, with sun and I will be enticed out

I need to perform tlc operation on my tomato seedlings. They have hardly grown, a small job for today, a transplant into new compost. They look strong and straight and hopefully have decent roots but possibly are starving

A good day to everyone

Good morning all and it’s a bit grey skyed here in Essex. We’ve had two lovely sunny days so can’t moan.
Yesterday we sat in DS1’s garden and had coffee, in the sunshine. One gd came down after an hour or so still in pjs but we never saw the other one. Still snoozing! Teenagers!
Dd and DGD came for lunch and we had a lovely afternoon together. Dd didn’t look well and I’m so worried about her. She has the consultant phoning on Wednesday. She really should see him face to face. She remains jolly and positive! ❤️.

An easy day today and we’ll pop out for some plants . It will be busy everywhere (it always is round here), but we won’t venture too far. Traffic and crowds we stay away from, if we can.

My db is on a cruise around Scotland. His poor wife is in care with dementia and sleeps most of the time. We all persuaded him to go away for a week. It’s a singles cruise and he’s a very handsome, charming man ( think Nigel Havers). We all warned him about the ladies. He’s sent me through lots of pics with him surrounded by females. Not another man in sight! 🙄😂!

Ash those pics are beautiful.
Happy 100th birthday to Bijou 🎈🎂.
Not long now GM 🤞.
Sounds like a wonderful holiday Cornergran . Memories !

Have a lovely bank holiday everyone 🌷

Pittcity Mon 01-May-23 07:55:08

Good morning from a mild, dry Colchester. The early sun has disappeared but we're promised 17 degrees.
DH and I are planning a walk to see what's going on in and around the city.
Love to all 🦩 x

brook2704 Mon 01-May-23 07:56:23

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s cloudy but I’m hoping it will brighten up later
Almost there gMattie I’m so pleased for you
Just a normal Monday here today, I’m off to the gym for Zumba this morning and then either a walk out somewhere or home to do the garden
If you can spare any of that sunshine grandmabatty please send it up here!
Lovely pictures Ash thank you and good luck in getting the part you’d like
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

harrigran Mon 01-May-23 07:58:15

Good morning from a dry NE where it is 10 degrees.
SIL came yesterday and we did some paperwork in readiness for an appointment at the bank later this month.
In the evening we roast a beef joint on a bed of root vegetables. We had a glass of Fleurie with the meal.
I will have a quiet day, watch some TV and start a new novel. Meals will be simple and relaxed.
Have a good Bank Holiday.

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 01-May-23 08:00:53

Good morning from a bright Co Durham. Looks set fair till after lunch so might put some washing on.
Grand dogs arrived yesterday for a sleepover 😀. Just waiting for them to stir. They are lazy little dogs.
Hope everyone is ok, I’ve not read the posts for a few days. Let’s hope May is a better month for all.

monk08 Mon 01-May-23 08:13:03

Good morning all from the Black country where once again its dull.
Whitewave the mention of dahlias bought memories of my late father he showed dahlias and won many a cup or trophy for them, would spend hours in his garden carefully removing any earwigs that dared to go near them happy days.
Will carry on with some decluttering, have a bag of costume jewellery I no longer wear to take to charity shop and my crockery needs sorting.
Have a lovely bank holiday everyone and may you all find some ☀️.
