Last Saturday night my husband and I went out separately to a hen do and impromptu additional stag do. During the evening my husband choked and very nearly died. He ended up in Intensive Care and the prognosis was very bleak. He was not expected to survive and I was told that if he did he would not be the same person as he had been deprived of oxygen for so long. Miraculously he is well on the way to making a full recovery against all expectations. A lot of people were praying for him and whatever you believe in, someone was definitely looking out for him. He was discharged from Intensive Care on Thursday and then from a general ward on Friday. He still has pneumonia and they predict his recovery will take 6-12 weeks but I am so thankful…

Glad he is ok. What did he choke on?
One of the scariest times of my life was when my little granddaughter choked on a piece of strawberry. I obviously had not sliced them small enough. Two rather strong taps on her back, brought it out. God was certainly there. Thankyou God.

It must have been a frightening experience it is good news that he is on the mend 💐

Thank goodness. I remember reading some research once about the power of prayer. It seemed that people who were prayed for had better than expected outcomes. Sounds like your DH certainly did. What a shock though. Just out of nowhere.

So sad, Anniebach. I am so sorry. No one expects such a tragic event from eating - something so ordinary.
Mamma66 I hope your husband makes a full and rapid recovery. What a traumatising experience for you both. I do believe in the power of prayer. It has helped me in the past.

He was eating lamb curry. My brother, nephew and sister-in-law’s brother slapped him very hard on the back and then did the Heimlich manoeuvre on him, but he still collapsed. They said afterwards that were the food had got stuck could not be dislodged by either. My sister-in-law’s brother put his hands in DH’s mouth and cleared his throat of vomit as his body was trying to expel the food. That was what saved him as his airways were partially protected. He was an extremely lucky man. Thank God. I am so grateful and thankful

So pleased for you Mamma. I pray a lot for others, though I was brought up not to do so for myself I have often asked for God’s help.

Just before the pandemic a young friend celebrated her 40th birthday with a bbq for family and friends. Her father choked on a piece of steak. Unfortunately everyone, including paramedics thought it was a heart attack, and he was treated for a cardiac arrest. Sadly he died.
Mamma, I am so glad your husband was saved and in time will return to a normal life.
Anniebach, I am deeply sorry to hear about your Godson's untimely, tragic death. My thoughts are with you and his family. flowers
