I would have loved to visit Canada and Alaska but it is such a long way for us I can’t stand the thought of the long journey now. I would have liked to see bears and wolves in their natural habitat but I guess I will have to cope with koalas and dingos ( not that you see many of those these days, either). We are about to go on a trip up to the Kimberleys which is thousands of kms away and that is just within Australia. Sometimes I wish they could shift the whole continent, we are so far from places!

My son used to work on cruise ships and although I have no real desire to cruise the one he really recommends is from Vancouver to Alaska. His photographs were amazing, I would love to do this.
He has been to so many countries in the world, he particularly loves Asia - Vietnam Cambodia Philippines he spent 10 days in dry dock in Japan amazing. I have been to Vietnam but would love to go to Japan.

I would love to travel to Singapore and see The Gardens of the Bay. Man-made towering trees covered in plants attracting birds and wildlife. There are bridges between them and it looks fantastic lit up at night.

I'd love to go to Kyoto in Japan. The long flights put me off and because of the war in Ukraine the flights are diverted and take even longer now.

I've been to India many times and lived there off and on for short periods of time.... it's a very wonderful country but hard work physically and whilst I would love to go again I don't think I will. So easy to get a nasty stomach bug and be really unwell which is Ok when younger.

There are two places I would like to go if it were only possible. Alaska to finally meet my in line friend after 20 years of chatting in line and Mauritius. Mauritius is where my grandfather was born and my childhood was filled with tales of his childhood there.

Too many places to mention, but will never go to because finances won't allow

I think young people think more about travelling and having experiences than we did when we were young.
I've had lots of lovely interesting holidays but so much more I would like to have seen.

South Anerica, the HolyLand. Lots.. But I hate flying. So never went further than Croatia.

I lived in Darwin, northern Australia, for over two years, and it was hot all the year round, being in the tropics; temperature rarely dropped below 30° during the day. Hot and wet November-March, hot and dry April-October.

I would love to go to India, fascinated by the country's history and have read loads about it -might get there one day, but the visa seems such a faff.

I’ve always wanted to go to Israel but whenever I’ve thought I could manage it there had been unrest and I’ve not taken the risk. I don’t think I’ll probably get there now as family dolt particularly want to go and I wouldn’t go on my own.

I went to Australia and NZ on an organised tour with Titan in 2007, loved Australia not quite so much NZ, would really recommend Titan for long haul. With my spine problems I don’t think I could fly that far now.

Nearer to home I’ve not managed to get to Italy or Poland despite seeing quite a lot of other European countries . Would definitely still like to get to go to both of them . Also we are hoping to go back to America next year and take the grandchildren as well for the first time. The grownups have all been before and we’d like to all go as a family

India for me. I've always been fascinated by it's people and places, and how colourful the clothes are
and even the beautiful jewellery.
Too late now though for me to visit.

I've been to lots of places, mainly in Europe. I am happy to stay at home and read about other places, or talk to people who have been there. No dirt, sweat, heat, flies or diarrhoea, not to mention the long haul flight to get there. (I don't mind the flying and love being able to watch 3 films back to back, but the whole procedure gives me a headache, what with the jet lag, air pressure in the cabin, continual noise and having to sit for so long)

Having said that, there's lots of corners of Germany I still haven't seen, and I'd like to go back to the UK and visit more places there in the next couple of years. Might be able to persuade DH as there have been several new archaeological discoveries recently.

I would like to go to China such an interesting Country I think also Alaska/Norway so many places on my bucket list so little time to achieve them.

Chardy Fri 05-May-23 09:25:29

NZ and Ireland are both beautiful and have such lovely, welcoming people.

Siope Fri 05-May-23 09:24:56

Not really one country, but Central
Asia (maybe 3 of the ‘stans) is on the list for soon.

biglouis Fri 05-May-23 09:22:03

The place I would love to visit would be the Galapagos Islands to see the giant tortoises and other reptiles. Ive always had a bit of a mania for tortoises and kept them when I lived with my parents. Although I could afford the trip the flight would be too long for me. Also the terrain is very rough and I am no longer mobile enough to walk far.

Another place I would have loved to visit was the Yemen. Alas it was never safe enough with Western visitors being in danger of kidnap and a civil war.

Ive been independently to some unusual places which it is difficult to visit now such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Syria. My travelling days are over.

The European river cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam was one of the very best cruises we have ever been on. Also the Mekong trip from Vietnam to Cambodia was good , very different. We have been to most of the Asian and Pacific countries because they are relatively close for us and a lot cheaper than holidays within Australia. I have never been to Africa or India but not likely to now. Also not to the USA but I’m not really keen on going there.
