I usually organise our trips away with my husband, I love to research hotels, holiday homes etc and usually come up with something really good.

My husband is taking me away tonight for 3 nights as a surprise, I have no idea where, other than it’s UK.

I have been told what to take in terms of dress and my walking boots have been put in the car.

It’s a very strange feeling, I have no control on this one!

If it’s a tent , Im coming homešŸ˜‰.

My view is that even if you do not totally enjoy something, it is better than never trying anything and just staying safe but boring for all your life. At the end of your life it is a lot better to look back and have had lots of experiences and be happy about most of what you have done, rather than have regrets about things you didnt do!! Well thats my way. The other day the fair was here and I had a great ride on the waltzers, chosing a car that really was swinging around. No doubt I was the oldest person they had on the ride. Who cares? It was great fun, I enjoyed it and where else can you shriek and scream in the street at my age without being carted off??!!

O wow what a truly fantastic surprise! Well done to all xx

How lovely that they managed to surprise you! Must have been tricky keeping it quiet if you are usually the organiser. I have a big birthday coming up this summer and wanted to spend it with all the family, so I have booked flights and villa - they all know I would not have trusted them to do it! But I hope there might be a few surprises while I am there...... Hope you all had a great time.

It all sounds lovely, the Cock in at Muggington is one of our family favourites, I hope you’re all having a great time, just a shame the weather isn’t better today.

You are so fortunate to have a husband who is willing to plan a ā€œsurpriseā€ trip for you and he. I’m sure he knows your interests enough to make this a memorable occasion.

Go forth with an open mind, a new adventure and vistas. Hope he didn’t forget to incorporate great dining into this.

Walking boots? No big deal. I’m sure he’s figured out where you can plug in your hairdryer!! šŸ˜†
Enjoy!

I'm so envious. I would love my family to arrange a meeting like that. I don't have a husband anymore but two of my daughters are semi estranged and both not in very good health at the moment.

So glad is was a lovely surprise and NOT camping.

What a wonderful surprise Sago. I too felt quite emotional reading about it. That’s exactly the sort of surprise I’d love.

Somehow I teared up reading about your lovely idyllic family weekend. My 3 sons are capable of organising something similar, but to make it a surprise like that was the icing on the cake.

Excellent work, Mr Sago and the rest of the family - it sounds a wonderful weekend.

Last night we had a dinner booked at the Cock Inn Muggington, we ate in a pod in their beautiful knotted garden.
The food and service was outstanding and having our own pod meant the children were not annoying other diners!
They did however behave beautifully as we were all so relaxed.

Swimming with the children this morning after breakfast then BBQ lunch.

Sons both leaving at tea time but daughter and family here with us until Monday.

Son no 2’s girlfriend has had a baptism of fire, having never met any of us before!
She is delightful, she is staying on in the UK to undertake training for part of the round the world clipper race, I’m sure that will feel like a walk in the park after 3 days of usšŸ˜‚.
