1)
Did any of GN who are experienced at riding, notice the black horse getting nervous and skittish?
It seemed like quite a long time for the rider to cope with.
Any ideas what caused that to happen?
All the other horses and riders did a good job of not letting it knock the momentum. Well done them.

2)
Did anyone find out why the King's carriage was early and William's and Kate's late?

3)
Close up coverage of the King showed him sounding off to Camilla in the coach.
His head was aggressively nodding. I should think his neck will be aching today with that action and the weight of the crown.
I'm nosy enough to hope some bright spark of a lip reader will tell us what he was saying!grin

4)
What's the difference if any, between a coach and carriage?

5)
Why did the BBC charge sky and gbnews for footage, when foreign tv news stations transmitted the Coronation for free?

6)
For a split second I felt sorry for Harry, coping with the fall out of his own actions.
Judging by the peoples faces around Harry outside the Abby, he was particularly sharp with Eugenie at one point. Beatrice looked so alarmed at the interchange, I thought I saw the blood drain out of her face before my eyes.
Anyone else pay such forensic attention to minutiae as I did?grin

7)
I thought the no tiara idea was silly.
Pomp and ceremony was the order of the day.
People got around this, by wearing feathers and flowers and diamante anyway, and it didn't look as regal imv.
Loved to see Charlotte with her circlet.

8)
Lets talk hats. Some people had such big hats on.
Very, very inconsiderate of others sitting behind.
Pippa Middleton, Trudeau's wife, Queen Letizia (beautiful though it was), and largest of all Katie Perry's humongous offering.
Pippa Middleton's outfit did look wonderful though.
Best hat for this type of occasion worn by Princess Charlene of Monaco imv, who looked amazing.
But Top of the Pops was of course, Princess Anne.
That feather is the talking point around the world apparently.

9)
Sorry those who like her outfit, but Penny Mordant I think, should have worn a colour that reflected the clothing of the previous Lord President of the Privy Council.
Black and gold I think.
It wasn't her day to stand out from the crowd.
After all if wearing a uniform was good enough for the Princess Royal.....

10)
Back to Harry, I hope Jack Brooksbank phone was set to record, as Harry was in full swing inside the Abby. Animated, gesticulating, even gurning.
Whilst Jack Brooksbank apparantly took the trouble to obscure his face when answering, Harry seemed to take a lot of pleasure in being as noticeable as possible.

11) Did the pot holes in the road get filled in for this occasion?
I don't think the crown would stay on their heads if they had a road like the one I live on!

12)
Oh and last but not least, I adored the gorgeous voice of Pretty Yende.
Not so much the banana coloured dress, with it's outsized collar. Lacked dignity for the occasion, in my opinion.

And you? What quizzical tiny detail impressed you, or made you chuckle?

I thought Princess Anne looked bizarre tbh.
Yeah, inconsiderate wearing huge titfers in the Abbey really.

Why?

She was in dress uniform, which she is entitled to, and wore the mantle of the Order of the Thistle - Scotland's most prestigeful order.

You don't seem to have thought the other members of the Royal family looked bizarre in the mantles of the Order of the Garter. So why should Princss Anne not pay Scotland the compliment of wearing the mantle of the Order of the Thistle?

The other members of the RF looked great tho! Her outfit made her look like a bloke.Maybe she liked that look, who knows. There was no need for her to be astride a horse that day.The outfit did her no favours in my view.
Other views are readily available 😄

I detested Theresa May's outfit and the other bright orange one, can't remember who wore it. I thought Harry seemed happy and relaxed and was chatting happily to the cousins and Princess Anne. He left immediately after the coronation so that he could get back for his son's birthday.

It doesn’t matter a jot what Scooby Doo Omid Scobie says, does, or writes. He’s a total irrelevance. Anyway, as I understand it, William and Catherine weren’t late, Charles and Camilla were early. It doesn’t matter though does it, royal protocol went a bit wrong and everything still went off marvellously.

Prince Louis' disappearing act - love him. Did he:

a) need a wee
b) go out for an ice cream
c) get up his sister's nose talking
d) let out a loud yawn

?????

He’s rather young to sit through the whole thing without a break, IMO!

Harry came to the Coronation. I’m glad, for his father’s sake. Since no one has posted about being able to lip-read his comments, we’ll never know what he thought unless he puts it in his next literary offering.
Good that he was seated with people he gets on with.
If Anne’s hat had a deliberately view-blocking high feather (which I doubt), it would have protected Harry from those desperate to put their own interpretations on what he looked like. KC & QC were not that lucky.

Saggi Tue 09-May-23 13:38:29

Turned tv off Friday and turned back on Tuesday. Missed it all. Damn!

Anniebach Tue 09-May-23 13:31:01

Harry looked as if he was really enjoying himself, he had what he wanted

Bizziebe Tue 09-May-23 13:13:27

And now Omid Scobie writes that the P and Pcess of Wales were late arriving at the Abbey because the children were to blame!
He hasn't got a Scooby-Do has he, becausehe wasn'tthere.

Riggie Tue 09-May-23 13:06:55

Didn’t notice anything about Harry other than him being seated three rows back and looking fed up.

He was talking non stop to the man on one side or him (Eugenie or Beatrice's husband) and totally ignored poor Proncess Alexandra who was on the end of the row by herself. Not very gentlemanly.

SueDoku Tue 09-May-23 13:02:16

There were some really witty Tweets about all aspects of the ceremony 😄
I obviously have a warped mind, as this was the one that made me laugh the most ..😁

knspol Tue 09-May-23 12:37:40

Thought Penny M was the star of the show, she looked so elegant and held that sword with such a steady hand for all that time, never seemed to waver, amazing effort!
Pippa M. looked very stylish as always and so did many of the foreign female leaders/wives. Anne's feather was a part of her uniform so could hardly be blamed for that.
I did think that Camilla's attendants looked so much like her, difficult to tell them apart in some shots. Did feel quite sorry for Harry even though I think he's been more than foolish.

Who was the boy,( young man), seated in the row behind Princess Charlotte.? He was wearing what looked like medals but seemed too young to have earned any.

A lot if medals are purely ceremonial. I remember reading that about the medals worn by people like Mike Tindall and Peter Philips at the Platinum Jubilee.

Growing0ldDisgracefully Tue 09-May-23 12:15:25

Just putting my tuppence - worth in, but I thought the purple whatever-it-is Charles had on under his robes in the latter part of the ceremony, looked like a cheap nylon bomber jacket (from what I could see of it when he was waving from the balcony).
I liked watching the pomp and ceremony, and history in the making, but thought the robes Kate and Sophie were wearing were a tad pantomime wardrobe.
I thought Camilla's robe was beautiful, and how lovely her personal touch of the dogs being embroidered on it.
I also wonder what Kate had been caught on camera laughing about, presumably something a bit irreverent, as she very hastily rearranged her face when she saw the camera on her!
And little Louis, typical small child bored out of his tree in a long church service!

I'm still concerned with finding out about the problem horse and rider.

I think a dark coloured, perhaps navy, suit with longish jacket would have looked better. Her feet look as though they may be painful. I can never forget a saying from my childhood ‘red hat, no knickers’, so I have never had a red hat!

That's polite 🙂

I had a navy outfit for a wedding many years ago (I was very young 🙂) and brightened it up with red shoes, red bag and a red trilby type straw hat.
Someone said - "Ooh, red hat, no drawers"

Bizziebe Mon 08-May-23 15:44:23

Don't laugh, but I was disappointed not to see Victora Beckham attending in her finery. She usually looks very chic, lots of navy, and small headwear. grin
Her husband looks good too!

I think Therese Coffey has lipoedema, she has the classic signs of it. I have it although I am slim on my upper half. The only dress I would wear is an elegant maxi or I would choose a beautiful trouser suit. Shame when there are so many lovely shorter dresses but going for a 'quirky' or poorly put together outfit only puts the focus on enormous legs on slender feet (feet are not affected in this condition)

Yes, it looks like it.

However, a short white jacket which didn't fit, over a navy dress with a differently patterned large scarf, topped off with that red hat wasn't really the best look.
A darker, longer jacket, a straighter skirt, no scarf or a less voluminous scarf, a different hat and she could have looked smarter and more 'pulled together'.

Mind you, I'm no fashion icon! And my invitation got lost in the post.

'La plume de ma tante' means 'the pen of my aunt'.
That's me, ever the pedant!
And how brilliantly it was positioned, very clever.

Literally a feather so referring to a quill pen?

Funny how Harry can't win, if he looks serious he's miserable, if he looks happy he's "putting on a show". I think most young men would look at the outfit William was wearing and think "Thank God I don't have to dress like a twerp." Then happily escape back to a quiet family life.

*quiet family life" ?

Oh, if only they'd done that ....... all would be fine.

I think Harry would have like to have worn ceremonial dress for the occasion.

Didn’t notice anything about Harry other than him being seated three rows back and looking fed up.
Didn’t notice anything between C and C in the coach either.
I did think Charles looked very old and rather miserable throughout tho.Maybe he was trying for dignity, but a small smile or gracious nod now and then would have looked better, not once he was crowned tho or it would have clattered to the ground.

Charles did look tired and anxious but I thought that he had aged a lot better than Camilla's first husband Andrew Parker Bowles.. Also as various guest speakers were talking about his wide variety of interests and skills it became very apparent to me that whilst he didn't have the initial glamour of APB he was probably always much more interesting as a person. I'll watch with interest how Charles and Camilla work together to bring environmental and social changes...and if they're allowed to.. I think the will is there.

Well, the thought has just struck me that Andrew P-B has to bow to his ex-wife.

His Wiki description has been updated to
"He is the former husband of Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom"

A naughty bit of me likes that. 😁
