1)
Did any of GN who are experienced at riding, notice the black horse getting nervous and skittish?
It seemed like quite a long time for the rider to cope with.
Any ideas what caused that to happen?
All the other horses and riders did a good job of not letting it knock the momentum. Well done them.

2)
Did anyone find out why the King's carriage was early and William's and Kate's late?

3)
Close up coverage of the King showed him sounding off to Camilla in the coach.
His head was aggressively nodding. I should think his neck will be aching today with that action and the weight of the crown.
I'm nosy enough to hope some bright spark of a lip reader will tell us what he was saying!grin

4)
What's the difference if any, between a coach and carriage?

5)
Why did the BBC charge sky and gbnews for footage, when foreign tv news stations transmitted the Coronation for free?

6)
For a split second I felt sorry for Harry, coping with the fall out of his own actions.
Judging by the peoples faces around Harry outside the Abby, he was particularly sharp with Eugenie at one point. Beatrice looked so alarmed at the interchange, I thought I saw the blood drain out of her face before my eyes.
Anyone else pay such forensic attention to minutiae as I did?grin

7)
I thought the no tiara idea was silly.
Pomp and ceremony was the order of the day.
People got around this, by wearing feathers and flowers and diamante anyway, and it didn't look as regal imv.
Loved to see Charlotte with her circlet.

8)
Lets talk hats. Some people had such big hats on.
Very, very inconsiderate of others sitting behind.
Pippa Middleton, Trudeau's wife, Queen Letizia (beautiful though it was), and largest of all Katie Perry's humongous offering.
Pippa Middleton's outfit did look wonderful though.
Best hat for this type of occasion worn by Princess Charlene of Monaco imv, who looked amazing.
But Top of the Pops was of course, Princess Anne.
That feather is the talking point around the world apparently.

9)
Sorry those who like her outfit, but Penny Mordant I think, should have worn a colour that reflected the clothing of the previous Lord President of the Privy Council.
Black and gold I think.
It wasn't her day to stand out from the crowd.
After all if wearing a uniform was good enough for the Princess Royal.....

10)
Back to Harry, I hope Jack Brooksbank phone was set to record, as Harry was in full swing inside the Abby. Animated, gesticulating, even gurning.
Whilst Jack Brooksbank apparantly took the trouble to obscure his face when answering, Harry seemed to take a lot of pleasure in being as noticeable as possible.

11) Did the pot holes in the road get filled in for this occasion?
I don't think the crown would stay on their heads if they had a road like the one I live on!

12)
Oh and last but not least, I adored the gorgeous voice of Pretty Yende.
Not so much the banana coloured dress, with it's outsized collar. Lacked dignity for the occasion, in my opinion.

And you? What quizzical tiny detail impressed you, or made you chuckle?

I always thought a coach had a roof and passengers truly inside whereas a carriage is open? Not really sure tho.

Oreo Sun 07-May-23 17:36:59

I thought Princess Anne looked bizarre tbh.
Yeah, inconsiderate wearing huge titfers in the Abbey really.

Blondiescot Sun 07-May-23 17:39:48

Horses, even ones as well-trained as those, can spook at any time - even at things which previously haven't bothered them at all. I didn't watch it, so I didn't see what might have caused it - just saw a photo on one of the news websites.

Oreo Sun 07-May-23 17:42:09

Didn’t notice anything about Harry other than him being seated three rows back and looking fed up.
Didn’t notice anything between C and C in the coach either.
I did think Charles looked very old and rather miserable throughout tho.Maybe he was trying for dignity, but a small smile or gracious nod now and then would have looked better, not once he was crowned tho or it would have clattered to the ground.

Namsnanny Sun 07-May-23 17:42:49

Makes sense Oreo I'll wiki it later on, after I've helped husband sort out the down pipe to the rain water butt. Passing tools is my limit!

sodapop Sun 07-May-23 17:45:04

I don't know what spooked the horse either but some bystanders had to move quickly out of the way. One of the police horses was a bit skittish as well.
I thought Pippa Middleton looked lovely too very elegant.
I was impressed that Louis knew the words to the National Anthem, pretty good for a five year old.

Deemed best part of 'the show' by those with us. smile

I love that people are calling the bit where Charles was apparently laden down with one item after another ‘Royal Buckaroo’.

Bizziebe Sun 07-May-23 17:48:54

Prince Louis' disappearing act - love him. Did he:

a) need a wee
b) go out for an ice cream
c) get up his sister's nose talking
d) let out a loud yawn

?????

Saw somewhere that the conversation between C&c was that he wanted a pee😄

Oreo Sun 07-May-23 17:51:14

I think it was planned, too many hours sitting in church was hard on many, not just five year old! Hard on the bum too.

One good, one terrible hat, and outfit. Best politician/wife’s outfit was Samantha Cameron I thought, she always dresses well.

...^not once he was crowned though, or it would clatter to the ground^

Not after it was practically 'screwed' onto his head grin

I don't think Suella Braverman's outfit a) suited her and b) was very well made.
Hat as your photo shows was a bit on the frufru side too.

So possibly Louis and Charles were suffering from the same complaint, too young no control, too old no controlgrin

Mamie Sun 07-May-23 18:12:02

Harry was obscured by "la plume de ma tante".

62Granny Sun 07-May-23 18:12:53

I thought Penny Mourdant looked elegant , black would have been to severe, Suella Braveman, definitely the wrong colour for her, Akshata Murty,
( Sunak's wife) I felt could have done with a jacket to finish her outfit, Teresa May looked impressive as she is usually quite a plain dresser and Carly Johnson quite plain and underwhelming. The Middleton ladies as always looked put together and polished. Doesn't Prince Louis look like his Grandad Middleton. Princess Charlotte stole the show with her outfit and her holding her little brothers hand and chatting to him, so sweet. Did you see the design and embroidery on Camilla dress , so nice that she included her children's and grandchildren's names and their dogs.

Inevitably - a bright spark of a lip reader has deciphered Charles' words to Camilla.

I too thought King Charles looked old and sad some of the time, but it must be hard knowing that you're finally being crowned only because your beloved mother has died ...

The Wales children were gorgeous as always and I though Lady Louise (Edward & Sophie's daughter) looked lovely, she seems to be a charming young lady.

SueDonim Sun 07-May-23 18:29:05

I want to know if the yellow and the blue carpets in the abbey are traditional or whether it was a nod to Ukraine, as were Jill Biden and her granddaughters blue/yellow outfits. The BBC also had blue and yellow flowers in their reporting ‘pod’ thing.

I was waiting for Princess Anne to have ‘someone’s eye oot’ with that hat!

SueDonim Sun 07-May-23 18:30:06

👏 👏

Jaxjacky Sun 07-May-23 18:46:26

No, I didn’t study the detail as much as you Namsnanny. I imagine Sky and GBnews were charged as they are ‘competitors in the UK.
I too thought Penny Mordaunt looked very appropriate, the detailing and colour of her outfit were deliberate.
The personal nuances on Camilla’s dress amused me, apparently she had her two grandson’s names embroidered on it as well as the dogs.

Calendargirl Sun 07-May-23 18:51:06

I understood Charles was early, but don’t know if the Wales’ were a bit late. According to the service programme, William and Catherine should have been in their seats before the King and Queen processed, but instead they had to bring up the rear. Not that it mattered really.

If that were the case, I expect Charles was agitated about that also.

Retread Sun 07-May-23 18:53:41

I loved it all.

I thought when Camilla had the regal cloak on, the straps on her shoulders (although embellished) made it look as if she was carrying a backpack 😃

Camilla once crowned walked as if she was afraid to move a muscle. And I bet Charles had something to say about his crown being a bit askew.

Re hats - Cherie Blair made a good choice. I wasn't surprised that Katy Perry couldn't find her seat at first - she couldn't see past the rim of her daft hat!
