I would have to say Keeping Up Appearances especially when Hyacinth's behaviour becomes extreme and her face starts to twitch and how the other characters react towards her.

Derry Girls
Colin from accounts - I know it's not British

If we're allowed "foreign" ones then The Big Bang Theory, The Good Place, Brooklyn Nine Nine and the pinnacle - Call my Agent.

Someone mentioned Dear John, it was very clever. We still remember the characters - Ralph Dring and his mobile discotheque, Kirk St Moritz and his mum, poor John and his therapist " were there any....sexual problems?" . Very funny, Ralph Bayes was a sad loss.
Loved/love Dad's Army,Dinner Ladies, Only Fools, early Not going Out & My Family when Kriss Marshall was in it.

Too many to mention!
Steptoe and Son
To the Manor Born
The Royale Family
Yes Minister
Blackadder
Dads Army
All Gas and Gaiters (when I was a child and my Mum loved it. I thought it was funny too!)
But my all time favourite is Irish! The brilliant ‘Father Ted’.

Keeping Up Appearances and To the Manor Born.
I think it would have made an amazing episode if Penelope Keith in her role in To the Manor Born could have made a guest appearance meeting Hyacinth in Keeping Up Appearance. There would have been some great one liners where the county gentry meets the social climber. In real life though I guess the ex owner of the manor would be impeccably polite and wouldn't show and adverse feelings. The only truly old school country set person I know is the kindest, best mannered and thoughtful old gentleman but it's good when art exaggerates possible scenarios and gives us all a laugh. I also liked Porridge ...a career criminal thief with a cynical wit. I wish there were more of these old style comedies.

The good life, to the manor born and keeping up appearances. My 16yr old loves Hyacinth Bucket and can often be heard chuckling along as he watches the episodes on Amazon.

Still game is outstanding. If i need a laugh, watching Jack & Victor doing the Slosh has me on my knees.

Not sure whether it’s exactly a sitcom, but I’ve just remembered one I absolutely loved - Upstart Crow, Ben Elton’s comedy life of Shakespeare. Brilliant.

Graham Linehan was a genius (possibly still is, although he has fallen out of favour.)

Black Books and the IT Crowd really make me laugh.

Not having lived in the UK from 1974 I missed out on nearly all the sitcoms mentioned until they were made available on the internet over the last 10 years or so. I missed the whole Victoria Wood era, for example.

Some Mothers do have them - who can forget Michael Crawford and Betty ?🤣- and I believe he did his own stunts. That’s what makes it special
