stilllearning so sorry about your DD's detached retina - that's miserable for her. But they can do so much these days, so fingers crossed for a good outcome from the op
Ekwa thank you. The weather app is still showing wall-to-wall sunshine but this cloud is very determined not to be shoved aside!

S o away to hit some golf balls on the driving range, it will help me with my golf too. Then after that who knows. Glad everyone is fine, grandmattie also. Have a nice day folks.

Morning all,
grey and chilly here today. I wish it would warm up a touch, but think we are in for a mixed bag of coolish, damp at times, weather this week.
Done a few chores and now it’s coffee time.
Hope you all have a good day.

Wyllow3 Sat 13-May-23 10:18:19

Non-arrival of promised all day sun yet either in S Yorks, in fact quite chilly.

Yesterdays barium meal went early well, I escaped after 2.5 hours, but then I went and twigged my back badly. Tramadol didn't work, Doc sis said Ibuprofen too, none in house, but kind neighbour came straight round with some when I phoned.

Slept a long time and today is going to be easy going for back to rest, maybe some light de-cluttering or sewing. (tho cupboard is almost bare, so will see how it goes.

I'm planning which bedding plants I want where, on a "map" and will avoid petunias as they need so much attention picking dead flowers off to look really nice. At the end of the long garden needs a very bright splash so that easy, red geraniums. Good purchase Greyduster

Well done G Mattie on starting to make friends, and so sorry to hear of family troubles and poor lies and hospital stays.

Hoping the sun comes out for all your outings and take care..

Good morning all from an overcast W Kent. A bit of shopping to do this morning but otherwise a quiet weekend. We spent yesterday clearing out the two bathrooms and throwing away out of date medicines and half used hotel shampoos etc, I now feel much tidier, trying to decide what to tackle next. Like so many others I can only do a bit at a time now.
Best wishes to all those one degree under and pleased you had a good chat to your new neighbour gM

Good morning from a foggy Co Armagh, hopefully it will clear and sunshine is forecast here too ! It was too hot to sit outside yesterday when I returned from painting class

Jaxjacky Sat 13-May-23 09:37:31

A late good morning from S Hants, put my sleep mask on at 5, woke up at nearly 9, loads of sleep. It feels warmer, cloudy, but yesterday was cold and damp, due sun later.
My left ear is totally blocked, I knew it was going, microsuction booked for next week, I’ll have a go in the bath and see if I can partially sort it.
Not read everything, hope poorly people improve and you all have a lovely day.

Good morning all fro:sunny Lancashire. The weather here has been beautiful for the past few days, such a pleasant change from all the wind and rain. I have laundry to hang out and a few garden jobs for MrB. A walk around the marina will also happen at some point. Dark glasses and a sun hat to protect my eyes. Stilllearnung a detached retina is very serious, I hope that your daughter’s surgery is successful and she makes a good recovery.

Have a happy Saturday all 🌻

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton, but sun is forecast later, so I shall go and find some washing to make the most of the weather.

Collected my prescription yesterday morning, then walked the rest of the way to our little retail centre; by the time I got there I had done 8000 steps. Had coffee and a bite to eat in M&S Cafe, then did a top-up shop.

Out to the theatre this afternoon to see 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'; Paul Nicholas is in the lead role.

Must get going and get that washing in! Have a good Saturday everyone.

Yesterday’s visit to the flower festival at Gloucester Cathedral was a great success but exhausting, even with several little sit downs. My back struggles with such a demanding day and the minibus, though expertly driven, didn’t help. The exhibits were spectacular though not all to my taste as I am old fashioned enough to like the flowers to speak louder than the mechanics and the trimmings, but I am in awe of the creative thinking as well as the skill, and I was so glad to have seen it.

So all I have today is collecting my new glasses and a bit of a rest. And catching up with all your posts!

Good morning from a dry and grey NE.
Slept late as I was kept awake by someone banging on a front door of a flat close by, they were causing a disturbance for an hour and a half.
Had a lovely meal yesterday at a fish restaurant, the weather was poor though.
DS and family visiting today, hopefully they will help eat the very large cake that my friend sent.
Have a good weekend.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle where it may get warm and sunny.

I'm not a happy bunny. Yesterday, I set off for the expensive garden centre and a nice drive out but had gone less than 2 miles when I got a low pressure warning for the tyres. I limped carefully back home, the steering being ok. Road side assistance came and put the spare on for me (I've never changed a tyre and wouldn't have the muscle anyway). Then I was faced with getting a replacement tyre. Not as simple as I thought! I eventually picked the brains of my local dealer and ended up with an appointment 12 days hence. Meanwhile the spare isn't something I'd want to do much driving on, just to a garage. So now I've spoken with a tyre replacement firm and got in this afternoon. The bad news is I'm replacing both front tyres as is often advised. One might have been ok but the undamaged one is showing slight signs of cracking so we decided on both. Needless to say, this is not cheap!

Mick, enjoy your visit. Ash and Olddudders those coughs sound very tedious, improvements soon I hope.

Everyone, have a good weekend. Let's will some sun up to Taichinan!

brook2704 Sat 13-May-23 09:17:33

So sorry to hear about your DD stilllearning, that sounds like such an ordeal for her. I hope she recovers quickly and is able to get back to her farm soon 💐

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Art with acrylics yesterday, a sea scene which I really enjoyed. Then to garden centre and bought red geraniums and Ivy for my front window window boxes.

Had a tossing and turning night for some reason, bits and pieces to do today. Quite like a ‘nothing’ day.

Worrying for your DD stilllearning, hope all goes well.
Will read through properly later and hope you all have the best day you can.

Taichinan Sat 13-May-23 09:03:14

Good morning all. My BBC weather app says it's sunny here. I suppose it is, if only that pesky grey, all-enveloping cloud would shift. It just won't leave us be! I drove home from Perthshire in glorious sunshine and under a clear blue sky on Thursday, but when I reached the coast and turned towards the north I could see the thick line of cloud ahead. "That's over 'Ma Wee Hoosey'" I said to myself, and I wasn't wrong!
Right, no more whining! I shall remember the Serenity Prayer and unleash my 'attitude if gratitude".
It sounds like you have a great day ahead Mick - enjoy your visit from your sister. And grandmattie, so glad you're settling in and have found a possible friend in your neighbour.
Susan that sounds like a lovely day out for you - mum and daughter times are so precious.
Ash and OD I hope those coughs clear up soon.
Mizuna glad you are able to get outside, even if it's just to the car park. Take care of yourself.
Grandmabatty enjoy your easy shift with DGS2 - a sleeping tot is so lovely 😉. I hope you're feeling better yourself.
Things seem to be all calm with DD and her family - though I say that with fingers crossed! She gets her hire car, courtesy of her insurers, today and will be driving up home with her DD tomorrow. My breath will be well and truly held!
Nothing planned for me today apart from tussling my grey sky induced Black Dog. A good start will be to find myself something sunny to wear in the hope that it might attract the sun to break through! Lovely Gardener will be here soon - time to pay him for painting the outside of the house. He is a true gem, that man.
Enjoy your sunny days everyone x

Good morning all from the east coast of Fife where it’s to be a warm day today I’ll get sitting out in the garden for a wee while I’m so looking forward to that I’ve not managed to do that in ages but I’m getting a strapping young lady coming in to help this morning she’s going to be a great asset to this household.

Thinking of those less fortunate than me today

Aldom Sat 13-May-23 08:55:22

Ladyleftfieldlover I too will wave when you are on Whitehorse Hill. smile

Stilllearning Sat 13-May-23 08:51:44

Morning from a sunny (at last) S Lanarkshire, still only 5 degrees here but real warmth promised for later, hurray! I know what you mean brook about in between days, especially since we are high up here and vest remains on for a depressing amount of time!

You are so positive Mizuna, I hope your health problems can be sorted soon.

Taichinan, I sympathise re not being able to fit 48 hours of activity into 24 hours any more, I would go further and say I can’t fit 24 hours of activity into 48 hours now. I felt for you too about your close friend moving away, that is very hard even though you have such a very busy and rewarding life.

I was glad to read a happier post from you grandMattie, you have had the opposite experience of being the ‘mover’, I admire your courage in this huge undertaking and hope you find some kindred spirits in your new life, I’m sure you will, you are a proactive lady!

So nice that your sister and her DH are coming to visit Mick, have a lovely afternoon.

We’ve had a bit of a family upset this week, farming DD has had to have surgery for a detached retina, She is in Gartnavel hospital and all seems to be well but she has to lie on her right side for three days, only to get up for ten minutes in each hour.
She was ill in December and fainted, banging her head when she fell and that seems to have started it. Three weeks of lambing and heavy lifting and bending then did the rest of the damage.
It could have been worse, she had booked to go away for a long weekend at a yoga retreat in Spain and had she taken the flight it would have been catastrophic.

Wishing everyone, especially those under the weather, a good day.

Greyduster Sat 13-May-23 08:35:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Hope you have a lovely day with your sister and BiL, Mick. The sun seems to have got lost on its way here, though it is forecast for later, and it’s very chilly. I was awake during the early hours, sneezing and coughing with a scratchy throat. I had a cup of herbal tea and read for a bit and managed to get back to sleep but I tested this morning to make sure it’s just a cold. It seems to be. DGS is coming with his ma and pa today for lunch and as he has just started his GCSE exams, I didn’t want covid rearing it’s ugly head. I bought a new lawnmower yesterday - lighter and, I hope, easier to use than the other one.
Whatever you have planned for today, I hope it brings you joy.

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 13-May-23 08:33:02

Good morning everyone from an overcast Oxfordshire, it rained on and off yesterday, let’s hope it’s drier today. Nothing planned except some more decluttering, I have a shelf in the study that the filing cabinet is in front of, so that’s being moved and I’ll see what’s behind it, I vaguely remember a stereo unit and a load of cables to connect old computers, I think, whatever it is it’s bound for the tip as I haven’t looked behind the cabinet for years.
Hope all those with health problems soon get better, also hope that all those with bad coughs have taken a Covid test, it’s still about.
Have a good day everyone, safe travels to those on the move and hugs for those who aren’t so chipper.
LLFL I think you can see my house from there, I’ll wave!

Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

I’ve woken with a headache and cough and we have a GC’s event to attend today. Sod’s Law, I’ll see if a couple of paracetamol will shift it and I’ll wear a mask while I’m around people.

Have the best day possible everyone.
