Good Morning Saturday 13th May 2023
(50 Posts)Good morning from a grey Bristol. The forecast is for sun later + temperatures reaching as high as 19C!
Hurrah, the damaged fridge/freezer has at last been collected! It was the original couriers who got it, not the vendors who, despite being very polite etc., were about as useful as a chocolate teapot!
Very pleasant chat with upstairs neighbour. I think we could be friends - early days.
DD came and we shifted furniture and unpacked more boxes - we’re freeing the spare room for when DS1 comes in less than a fortnight.
She went off for a meeting soon after lunch. I then got a panicked text asking if she had left Iris’ splint here. Looked everywhere I could think, but no. She requested another look, this time in the car park, no. Eventually, another text to say it had been at home all the time! She had needed it to help buying new shoes.
Hope coughs and pain, etc., are receding. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️
Good morning from the South Downs. I can still hear the wind in the north. It was bitterly cold yesterday, so a day spent sewing.
The forecast is for much warmer weather, but the weather doesn’t seen to be listening. I’d settle for no wind.
Heard from daughter and son yesterday - both on the phone for over an hour, but it was good to catch up on all their chatter.
Daughter has been head hunted (again) and starts her new job at a startling salary in June. An American pharmaceutical company. Caught up with grandsons news.
Son has late booked a holiday in Portugal (next Saturday) for some warmth. Lots of people seem to be doing that - we would except we can’t leave our ancient full of strange foibles dog😄.
Well, must put on the Teasmade as dog is prancing around.
The trouble posting so early is that I miss the following news and can’t comment.
But I hope everyone is hail and hearty and looking forward to a happy productive day. And some warmth!!
Except yours gm.
Glad to read that you are settling down at last.
Whitewavemark2
Except yours gm.
Glad to read that you are settling down at last.
Thanks, wwm2 🫂
Good morning from s somerset with good weather today
Yesterday turned into a very busy day and I have woken up with aches. Just a simple winter to summer bedding changeover turned into mattress flipping, room bottoming and linen cupboard sorting which spread into three rooms. It was heavy work. I decided that there would be no more self-imposed exercise yesterday
GM it is marvellous to feel your happy vibes. Taichinan, I hope that retrograde stuff has calmed down and your life is back to equilibrium. That was a lot of stuff in a short time
No bones about it, today a big wash will be out at 9 and I will be pumping up hard, skinny tyres, for my first road bike ride this year. Jeans just will not do, it will have to be lycra for practical reasons
A good day to you
Good morning, it’s a bit chilly here in Wiltshire this morning, I poked my head outside to get some air (severe heart failure is a bummer), and it’s cloudy too.
Yesterday I pootled in the greenhouse and garden, found a large disgruntled toad in the greenhouse- there’s always one or two in there! - who wasn’t pleased at being disturbed 😦
I need to start tidying the front garden this weekend, then I have a large number of seedlings in the greenhouse that need potting up or planting out.
I will walk DDog first thing, it’s lovely being out early.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
Good morning from Shropshire.
A day out with DD today -shopping, lunch and theatre.
Thinking of Grandmabatty and all with family worries and illness.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 5° but beautifully sunny and the forecast is good. Mick enjoy your visit from your sister. Grandmattie excellent news about the fridge/freezer and the pleasant neighbour. Whitewave congratulations to your daughter. You must be very proud of her. Karma I'm tired just reading what you are up to! BlueBalou I smiled at the thought of a disgruntled toad.
Yesterday I got food at Aldi. I'm never happy unless my cupboards and fridge are well stocked. Then visited mum. She didn't look great but was being well cared for. Later on, the frailty nurse called with a plan to begin her rehabilitation. She was able to reassure me that it will be weeks before mum goes home and there will be carers going in. She was also able to reassure me about a couple of other things too.
Today I'm looking after dgs2 for a couple of hours while dgs1 goes to a party. It'll be an easy shift as it coincides with his nap. Then I'll visit mum later. Salmon salad for dinner. Have a good day all
Good morning from a day that is promising to be warmer here in La Sarthe but has yet failed to convince itself.
A late start here as DH has had a very poor night. A few days ago, he seemed to be improving but is now coughing more than I am. Yesterday, we waited in all day for a telephone engineer who failed to appear.
I’m glad your coffee date felt promising, grandMattie and your DS1 is coming soon. Also that the saga of the fridge/freezer has ended!
Congratulations to your daughter, Whitewavemark2! You must be proud of her.
I hope Taichinan has recovered after the dramas earlier this week! Lucky you were able to help.
No plans for today as neither of us has much energy. We’d benefit from warmer weather on both sides of La Manche! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Susan that sounds like a lovely day. Have a good time.
Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. We are promised 20° and sunshine today. No firm plans but a walk is a must as we were indoors most of yesterday due to the wind and rain.
Love to all 🦩 x
Good morning from a potentially sunny day in Cornwall according to the weather forecast. Still in a hospital bed with no view but yesterday I walked outside with permission and will do the same today. Never thought I'd be excited at walking in a car park ha ha. I'm still on the Acute Medical Admissions ward, a real mix of ailments! Thank you for your kind comments yesterday.
Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is cloudy, sunshine forecast later.
Yesterday proved a bit of an endurance test, we were out for nearly 11 hours as the ‘timetable’ given for various tests and appointments fell at the first hurdle.
Our fitter finished the floor other than a final tweak early next week and oversaw the return of kitchen appliances to their rightful places. Can’t praise the flooring company enough, when I explained our delayed return I was simply told to leave it with them and they would sort everything.
If Mr C is up to it today will see skirting starting to be replaced (think he’s regretting not asking the flooring company to do it) before we head out for lunch.
That’s good to hear grandmattie. Sounds as good if busy day ahead for you mick and susan.
Hope Saturday is gentle with us all.
Good morning all! We go home today having had a lovely weeks holiday in West Wales. I even swam in the sea yesterday albeit in a wetsuit. Fair drive home but calling in on SIL on the way which will be good to see her plus provide a good break from the journey. Hope everyone has the best day possible
Good morning all and it’s chilly and damp again, here in Essex.
Wasn’t it cold yesterday! 🥶.
Dh went to DD’s to mow her small lawn, but the rain started as soon as he got there so couldn’t do it. He’ll have another try this morning.
Today I’m going to a belated Coronation lunch and afternoon tea with the U3A. They are usually fun with entertainers and delicious food.
We plan to go to Suffolk tomorrow for a week . Our friends are staying near by so we’ll spend time with them.
Susan enjoy your day with your daughter. Sounds lovely.
GM things are starting to go your way’. 😉.
Ash sorry to hear olddudders is still coughing. You both need some sunshine. ☀️.
Whitewave congrats to your daughter. Of course you can take most of the credit 😉.
Hoping you all have a nice day.🌸
Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where although only 3°C, it is expected to reach 19°C.
GM glad to hear you sounding more upbeat and congratulations to your DD, WWM.
I have busy day to day, another set of First Communions and this will be a larger number of children than last week, some of my former colleagues will be attending.
Also, I have to open up the church for Vigil Mass tonight.
Yesrday was very busy and I'm quite weary today. Last week's holiday has worn me out! 🤣 However, I'm not complaining, I had a lovely time. There were roadworks everywhere and the journey took longer than usual. DH hates driving on the Queensferry crossing, but the sat nav kept trying to take us there! At the last minute, I spotted a sign for a town we had passed through on our outward journey, so disaster avoided and we crossed the Kincardine bridge, DH's original plan.
One the way home, we stopped at the boutique in Elie and the owner opened up early, when she saw me peering in the window! All I will say is, it was worth her while. 😉 I had been saving all year for this.
She suggested a top, which was not my style, but insisted I try it on. It looked amazing and DH said he would treat me.🥰
I discovered that she owns a holiday let in Pittenweem and gave me her phone number, so that I could by pass the middleman, if I was interested.
A detour was made to the surgery, where I was surprised, that despite asking me to call him for a review, before issuing a prescription (not yet done), my GP had prescribed a stash of anti nausea pills. I was so relieved, the vertigo is still lurking in the background.
Dinner last night was fish bought straight off the boat at Pittenweem yesterday morning, it was so fresh (and cheap) it was falling apart. I have never tasted anything so delicious, apart from the freshly caught prawns on Wednesday.
Wishing you all a pleasant day and Mick enjoy your time with your family.
Hoping to hear better news from GMB and a shout out for Mizuna' 💐 Our twigs are laden with blossom!
Good morning everyone from Inverness where the forecast is for a lovely day with temperatures up to 19º, fingers crossed!
Hope your DH is much better soon Ash
A big well done to your DD whitewave 👏
I’ll hoping to spend most of the day in the garden, I need to pop to the shops first thing but other than that I’ve no plans. DD might message but will see. I really must sort through my clothes sometime, I’ve got reasonably ok winter and summer clothes but I can’t find much for these in between days. I’m off to visit DD in Cambridge next week and I need to travel light but I’m struggling with what to take, especially shoes - too hot for boots but I’m not ready for sandals yet
Sounds like a really lovely holidays momb, well done with the wild swimming and hope it wasn’t too cold
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning.
Pleased to hear of the holidays and outings that people have enjoyed.
Today we will be taking DGS2 to his football match and looking after him and DGS3 for the day. We will visit t MIL ( their GG ) and go to a nice cafe for lunch.
Wishing all a good day especially those who a feeling under par hope today is a good one.
Good morning all from a dull Black country.
I can hear DH coughing upstairs I do hope his cough has not returned.
Lovely meal with the family yesterday.
Will read through later usual full English calling, friends coming over later and we shall meet up with others at the club.
Enjoy your Saturday whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning All from a cloudy North Leicestershire.
Shopping today for little present for DGD2 who will 12 next week. Her main present is a day out shopping (including lunch)but we like to give her (and her cousins) something to open on the day.
This evening, we are going to eat at a pub in the village!
Have the best day possible everyone.
I don’t believe it😡 I was gaily posting to everyone (didn’t want to miss anyone) replying to all your post and had got as far as about to wish mizuma well and is she in Truro hospital when it all disappeared.
Oh well enjoy your day one and all😄
PS mizuma we will be travelling to “home” this time next week in your part of the woods. Home in my case was Delabole,
Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk although we are promised sun( remember that?) in a couple of hours.
I had decided a day or so ago to put away my cashmere scarf and gloves from the hall table thinking that they would no longer be needed given it was nearly the middle of May and only a few weeks away from the longest day! Yesterday was so cold in the afternoon that I retrieved them before going out.
It is the monthly country market in our nearest town so off there in an hour or so. The wonderful artisan bread stall always has a long queue as soon as it opens and sells out within the first half hour or so of their most popular loaves. You can pre- order but I never think of it til it’s too late.
Lovely to hear about those having holidays in the sun and life seeming a bit easier for some of those with worries.
Remembering the song…Here comes the sun….hope it does.
Good morning from a very grey Essex by the sea. We are promised a fine sunny day, the jury is out on that one !!!!!
Some shopping first thing then I am going to the boat to help DH with some things that he cannot do on his own. I also have curtains to hang and a new carpet runner to lay.
Sorry to hear about all the coughing going on. I still have mine first thing in the morning but it usually clears as the day goes on.
I hope you all have an enjoyable Saturday xxx
Good morning from a dull Black Country, where sun is forecast for later!
Managed to cut the lawn yesterday for the first time this year! It was almost a jungle. Couldn't be bothered to cook last night so went our for fish and chips. It's certainly not a cheap meal any longer!
Today I have to take Mum for an MRI scan. I know the Doctor is waiting to get an appointment for the Memory Clinic, but didn't expect this.
Congratulations to your DD wwm2 one very proud Mum! We are just back from Portugal, and it was Very sunny!
Glad things are slowly improving gM, it will soon be like you have always lived there.
My youngest DGD will be 12 next week Kitty . Hard to believe how quickly they grow.
Wishing you all the best day possible
