Exciting topic I know - do you put yours through the dishwasher?

grandMattie Sun 21-May-23 10:08:35

Can one?

Rosie51 Sun 21-May-23 10:12:45

I do. My dishwasher has the cutlery tray at the top and I put it in there. I only have cheap IKEA ones so no great loss if it didn't survive.

..Haven't got a dishwasher but a soaking in watered down bleach every now and again does the trick

Tizliz Sun 21-May-23 10:14:15

Where do you find decent ones that don’t cost a fortune?

BlueBelle Sun 21-May-23 10:20:58

No I don’t use them and don’t have a dishwasher
I use dish clothes and those silver coloured scrubbers, the dish clothes go in the washing machine the scrubbers die a natural death 😂

I immediately thought you meant paintbrushes 🙄

Luckygirl3 Sun 21-May-23 10:42:47

I can't use bleach because of the the biodigester. I think I will stick it in the dishwasher and await developments.

NotSpaghetti Sun 21-May-23 10:42:53

As in washing paintbrushes up!

Davida1968 Sun 21-May-23 11:47:35

Yes, I have done this with plastic washing-up brush. Top shelf. Cleans it with no problems.

Foxygloves Sun 21-May-23 11:53:51

No, Throw it away and (hang the expense) buy a new one.

annodomini Sun 21-May-23 11:56:52

I've had the same dishwashing brush as long as I've had a dishwasher. At least weekly it goes in with the plates, mugs and anything else that needs washing. I've never thought of any other way of cleaning it. If it's good enough for the dishes, it stands to reason it's effective for the brush. I think it came, originally as one of a pair from Lakeland. Its partner vanished without trace -sad

Norah Sun 21-May-23 11:59:29

Yes, dishwasher, during every run, on top cutlery shelf.

downtoearth Sun 21-May-23 13:29:16

Have put toothbrushes through on 70° come out perfectly

Grantanow Sun 21-May-23 13:36:45

Yes, in the dishwasher top tray. No problems.

DanniRae Sun 21-May-23 13:42:52

I don't have a dishwasher so every morning when I boil the kettle for my tea I boil extra water, and put the washing up brush, j-cloth and metal scourer in the washing up bowl and pour the extra boiling hot water over them and leave to soak.

Gin Sun 21-May-23 13:50:32

Yes goes in with the utensils on top tray every day. I buy them for peanuts in Ikea.

AreWeThereYet Sun 21-May-23 13:54:52

Yes, I put mine either on the top shelf or in the cutlery canister depending on what space is free. I also bung any scrubbies I've been using in the canister. No problems so far.

Apart from brushes - my favoutite line in Mamma Mia2 is as Christine Baranski first catches a glimpse of Andy Garcia "be still my beating".

Well, yes, Andy Garcia is just as gorgeous as a man can be.

I bought my current one from Waitrose. Good design and quality. I can't remember what it cost, but not a lot. smile

In all of the professional kitchens I ever worked in, which were many, we put washing-up brushes and pot scourers in the dishwasher at the end of our shifts along with washing cloths when the laundry let us down, cultlery trays etc.

I don't have a dishwasher so scald mine.

Iam64 Sun 21-May-23 14:47:20

Bleach

Vanillasky Sun 21-May-23 15:09:25

Yes, because someone 🐕 does the prewash and takes them off into the garden. Don't ask!

Callistemon21 Sun 21-May-23 15:41:25

I'm feeling out of the loop because I don't have one.
sad

Kittye Sun 21-May-23 15:51:37

Yes mine goes in top shelf of dishwasher. Callistemon treat yourself to one 😁
