Good Morning Tuesday 23rd May 2023
(44 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
A dry bright start here in brackley this morning.
Today , after some housework , I will get the Bicester bus for a couple of hours there before returning to watch the Giro on TV .
Take Care,
Mick
BlueBalou, good luck with your painting today. I have started something in gouache and feel the same as you about must do more practice 🖼️ 🙂
Morning all from a cool but dry Boggy Brae. I mowed some of the "Marsh" at the bottom of the garden yesterday. Have to go carefully because of young Northern Marsh Orchids and around the primroses so they can set seed and spread. There are more of both every year.
My soninlaw's fundraiser for their local hospice where DD says with her usual straightforwardness "I might end up finally" (gulp! but she's right 😢) and where the whole family are already getting support and counselling, the fundraiser as I say has taken off big time. People are so kind.
Good day wishes to all 🌱
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
You are an example to us all, granMattie, and I don’t just mean getting the laundry done. I am trying to learn from your positivity.
Washing in machine, shopping list compiled, one of the new rose bushes is in flower - what a good start to the day. Hope all those in need of healing find some especially Gingster’s brave daughter.
Good morning from a sunny NE.
Yesterday's appointment at the bank was successful, I got the last of DH's financial affairs sorted. You are allowed to inherit your spouse's ISA but the onus is on you to learn about it, thankfully we read all the small print.
GP finally gave in and sanctioned my repeat prescription, if he hadn't I would have run out of tablets on holiday.
SIL and I had dinner together, sole with mashed potato, carrots and green beans, our last meal together for some time as he goes home to Brussels tomorrow.
My sister is visiting this afternoon, we will have coffee and cake and catch up with all her news.
Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, boding well for our health walk this afternoon.
A good day yesterday; lovely to see people at Knit and Natter, except not paying attention, I cast on way too many stitches for a sleeve, did 4 rows and then realised I was wrong, so it all had to come undone! We all stayed on for lunch; I had the carvety, roast beef, which was delicious.
Then a quick visit to the garden centre with a friend (I resisted temptation!)!
Sat in the garden for an hour or so with the newspaper, then did some more grass edging.
The washing machine is beeping, so must go and hang the washing out.
Have a good Tuesday.
Belated happy birthday 🎂 to AuntieFlo.
Hope all goes well for Wyllow today.
Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea.
Very best wishes for today Wyllow, I hope all goes well.
A visit to the Post Office this morning and then some admin to
attend to.
I'm sorry to hear that your DD is finding things hard at the moment Gingster, I hope she feels better soon.
Enjoy your day everyone and hopefully you will all see some sun. xx
Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Yesterday's visit by the cleaner was a great success thank goodness and I just hope she will keep coming, the ensuite looks really good. Today I have a DF coming for a cup of tea and hoping to fit a walk in at some point.
Wyllow good wishes for today's procedure.
Gingster I hope your DD is feeling better soon.
Best wishes to all
Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle. It was brilliantly sunny an hour ago!
I'm not doing much this morning, I'll just keep the washing machine fed and get on with some admin as I'm off to Newcastle at lunch time for an appointment with a physio. I won't get back until early evening which is a bit annoying as I'm religious about my meal times. I'll get something cold prepared for my return, I won't be cooking.
In spite of the greyness, I don't think it will rain, so I'd better do a bit of watering of the items still in pots and trays.
Have a good day all and especial good wishes to your DD, Gingster
Good morning from a brightening N. Bucks.
We have DGS3 for a while this morning and then DHis going to help a friend with some house repairs. So I’ll be having coffee with my friend ( his wife).
Lunch with another friend later.
Must make a list for ‘ things to do’ before we go away on Friday.
Hoping you all have a pleasant day and enjoy some sunshine.
Wyllow, best wishes for toda Shazza, will, add your DIL to the list. 💐y
Good morning from another lovely Suffolk day.
I’m sorry to read Gingster that your DD is still struggling with the after effects of her treatment. Hopefully she can sit in the garden and enjoy the sun. Best wishes for those not feeling at their best too.
I’m off to the monthly Arts Society talk this morning in Aldeburgh. It’s about the Russsian Avant Garde ‘fake’ movement( about which I know nothing but should be interesting. A dear friend drives me and another friend there and we usually manage to have lunch afterwards ….why not?
There is a fantastic beach shack selling a huge variety of smoked fish. There are a few benches on the beach which I imagine will be well used today. Perhaps we’ll grab something there.
Last month when we were there 3 Hercules planes flew over the sea very close to the beach. They were practising as part of the planned fly past for the Coronation but, unfortunately, because of the weather,we’re not able, like other planes, to participate.
Good morning all from Glasgow, where the sun is trying to peek through the clouds. It's 10°C.
Firstly, apologies for missing Auntiflo's birthday, yesterday. I hope you had a lovely day.
GM, I would join that WhatsApp group, you having nothing to lose and it may help you make new friends.
Greyduster, the first thing I remember about you, when I had just joined GN, was that you loved fishing. I hope you have an enjoyable day.
Yesterday, turned out to be better than expected. I was doing as ordered and rested after going to Mass, when DH asked if I would like a trip to the local nursery for begonias. He has an obsession with them and they must be double headed for his hanging baskets.
The nursery was heaving with elderly, grumpy people with the same idea. It was a bit like fighting over the last turkey at Christmas! The plants were flying off the shelves.
I took myself out of the arena, for fear of being knocked over.
DD's village is near to the nursery, so I asked DH if we could make a detour, to drop some things off.
I had forgotten they didn't work from home on a Monday, until I saw their bins blocking the drive.
DH sorted the bins, while I had a nosey at their new greenhouse. It was then I noticed the washing on the line.
Despite years of intensive training, my darling, messy daughter 😍 has never mastered the art of hanging out washing.
Everything was crammed on the one part of the rotary dryer and not drying, it was listing to the one side, like Gourock. ( A Glasgow saying),
DH was horrified when I started interfering rearranging it. 😱
I got back into the car, when I noticed a message from DD. I had totally forgotten they had security cameras. I would make rubbish burglar! 😂
Last night, I was sitting ruminating on what to do about the tooth, with a very old filling, which had just crumbled, when eating dinner, 😱, ( and predicting another crown) when the doorbell rang.
Assuming it was yet another Amazon parcel for DH, I hobbled to the door. (He was nowhere to be seen).
To my utter surprise and delight, a wee, cheeky face was peering through the glass.
DIL, realising I wasn't feeling great yesterday, had suggested to DS that they popped down. It was so lovely to get cuddles.
The only problem was, Dollie thought she was here for the duration and refused to go home!
Late afternoon, I have a bone scan in a Glasgow hospital, which I don't usually attend. The last time I was there, was when I needed anti viral infusion for Covid.
The timing of the appointment means that we will be caught in the rush hour traffic in the Clyde tunnel, DH is fretting already.
I used to blithely do all these trips on my own, when we were both working. Sadly, now I can't manage without DH.
My thoughts are with your daughter Gingster and Baubles and family. I made Mass yesterday morning, ( albeit a few minutes late), so prayers were offered up.
Safe journey Ash and to all who are travelling or out and about.
Have a good day, folks.
Morning all from a sunny S Hants. Hope it goes well today Wyllow.
Thoughts with those struggling, family members especially.
We had ants in the kitchen yesterday, again, no sign this morning 🤞.
Quiz last night my team came second, free entry next week, that’ll do.
Today the remnants of yesterdays calls to tidy up, bowls practice this afternoon.
Enjoy your day 🦩🦩
Good morning from sunny Cornwall. Having an easier day today as we walked the dog off his paws yesterday and he could hardly move - had to carry him into the cottage from the car. He’s had a good night and fine this morning, but we only went out for a gentle stroll first thing. Plan to have a stroll along the beach today perhaps a paddle, then catch the ferry across to Padstow - from Rock- stroll around and then lunch in either Paul Ainsworth of Steins depends on what the menus are looking like. They both allow dogs so that is fine as it is far too hot to leave him.
Might wonder up onto the cliffs after if dog is up to it. I can’t believe this fantastic weather though!
Everyone on the morning thread seems in fine fettle.
Enjoy your day after your procedure willow relax and recover.
Good morning from an overcast South Wales, hopefully the sun will come out.
Our Electricity will go off this morning at 8.30 and will be off until 2.30 , ( so the farmer has told us). For essential repairs, So iPads are charged and an early breakfast today, we are heading South towards the coast to have a potter about later on. The water here is pumped from a bore hole so not sure if we will get any up so have filled a couple of bottles just in case.
All the best for your procedure Wyllow
Hope your DIL gets well soon Shazza
Best wishes to your DD Gingster
Hope everyone has a good day.
Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast. The large back patio was jet washed yesterday and the lawn cut, so I will be able to entertain out there without hanging my head in shame. The cover is also off the hanging egg chair, so it’s officially summer here, though cloudy.
I made arrangements to transfer monies to help DD purchase her flat in the south and have
my yearly meeting coming up with financial advisor when I will see how the land lies financially. Although I have no plans to downsize at the moment, everything will go to DD and DS eventually so I’m happy to help out now.
Usual music club today and we have reverted to the older later starting time after complaints. Hopefully the numbers will improve. I must have a warble before I go.
I seem to be turning in earlier at night,(not a bad thing) dropping off to sleep in front of the tv. A far cry from my singing/performing days, when the evenings were the focus and mornings could be a write off.
Lovely photo Grammaretto
Hope your op goes smoothly Wyllow and thinking of you and your DD Gingster
Sorry Wyllow - thoughts with you today too and I hope your procedure isn't too uncomfortable
Good morning all from a sunny - yes, sunny!!! - Angus coast. Only 8° at the moment, but 16° is forecast.
I just pottered and foutered yesterday, but did complete the paperwork I had to do. I also finished my book, the last in Lucinda Riley's Seven Sisters saga - highly recommended. Sadly Lucinda Riley herself past away a couple of years ago, so it was a last book in more ways than one.
Today is a tai chi day so something to look forward to. Then a spot of shopping while I'm down in the town.
Happy Birthday for yesterday Auntieflo - I'm less than a year ahead of you and become 82 in September.
It's lovely to see you settled and more content Grandmattie - it's been a good move for you. WhatsApp groups are good and keep you abreast with all that's going on. We have a Family WhatsApp, which was heavily used and a life-saver for me during lockdown, and now DGD3 has started up a Wordle one with her sister and mum and their 'other halves' - and Nanny 'so she doesn't feel left out! 'Left behind' would be a more appropriate description - goodness those youngsters are quick with their replies and repartee!
Gingster I'm sorry your DD (and therefore you) is going through such a hard time. As you say, she's been given back her life, but that treatment takes its toll
And so off I trot - and I see the first two have completed today's Wordle ...... Have a good day everyone x
Wyllow good luck later with your op. gingster I'm sorry to hear that your daughter is struggling
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It's quite mild and overcast.
I had a good day catching up with an old friend. We met at the Botanic gardens which were looking and smelling stunning.
Today I'm taking my DGD for her birthday treat on a birdwatching boat trip. at least I hope it will be a treat
gMattie you are sounding more settled already and busy as ever.
Thinking of you and your DD Gingster
Hope today brings joy
Good morning all from an overcast Black country think the sun will break through later.
Once again no plans will see what the day brings, possibly gardening and I have a new book to finish.
All the best for your procedure Wyllow hope all goes well.
Best wishes for anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Enjoy your Tuesday everyone and may you all find some ☀️.
Good Morning Mick and everyone from Hull. It’s dull at the moment but should come out sunny like yesterday afternoon.
Wyllow best wishes for your op today 💐
Ash love your cat he’s certainly earning his keep.
Ginger sending your DD love and healing hugs💐
My son has just called from China to say they’ve admitted our daughter in law to hospital with pneumonia brought on by covid. She is just days away from giving birth so baby is fine and moving around happily but she just can’t shake the cough. She’s has been monitored at the hospital most days but they felt today she should be admitted.
She’s the last one we know to get covid and it’s hit her hard.
I’m busy with my mum and uncle today and tonight it’s my best friend’s 60th birthday meal so we are eating out together I need to pick up a balloon at some point.
Have a lovely day everyone. Love to those with stress and illness🌻🌻
