Thank you, thank you, thank you kind Gnetters. I half guessed it was Rosamunde Pilcher but thank you also lemsip for Ali Smith Seasons. It gives yet more wonderful books on the seasons to read. So pleased. You have made my day.

Summer, Winter, Autumn and Spring by Rosamunde Pilcher.
Four Seasons was the name of the TV series.

Back in the 1980s/early 90s there was a series of book written about a family dynasty called, I think, Summer, Winter, Autumn, Spring, or something like that and it was the story of a family down the decades. Quite trite with lovely English country houses etc. Can anyone remember who wrote the series and titles? It was dramatised on TV. Many thanks. Would love to read it.
