Rain, rain, don't go away...please stay as long as you like. grin

It is still muggy. The pesky midges are still hungry for blood. However, tennis from Queens begins this afternoon. I am happy to umpire from my favourite arm chair.

I have an appointment with the hairdresser tomorrow. The hair is looking somewhat unruly. wink

My good wishes to all our Kitcheners who have been poorly and are hopefully feeling improved. flowers

It’s a very grumpy cornerland today. Travellers have found their way alongside our little river. It’s a pretty spot. I understand why it’s attractive. A footpath is blocked which is less important than the rubbish in and floating on the water. Not the best neighbours. I’m so disappointed. There are two large permanent sites in the area, perfectly kept, we had many an interesting chat with adults waiting to collect from the school also attended by our grandchildren. The difference in attitude amazes me. Steps are underway to reclaim the space, it could take a while though, in the meantime our poor river and its wildlife suffer.

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! Soo,, enjoy your tennis 🎾. My hair is also unruly these days, the straighteners are working overtime!

I'm sorry to hear that so many in our kitchen have not been feeling very well, hoping and praying that good health is restored very soon. 💐*Blossoming 💐SueD💐Jaxjacky 💐Grandmabatty 💐Ladyleftfieldlover*💐 so sorry if I've missed anyone, I can't go back to the previous page or I'll lose my post.

Best wishes to MrB for his continued recovery and to MrC as he waits for his operation.

Jaxjacky, good luck for tomorrow, I hope your appointment is reassuring.

I had a lovely morning, visited DSis 1 after Mass. She looks after her 6 month old granddaughter on Mondays and I have an open invitation to pop in! I just love to see the joy this beautiful wee girl brings to my sister and brother in law, they are besotted with their first grandchild. 💕

Home now, knitting in tbe garden, we had some overnight rain, not a lot. Very cloudy and humid, but pleasant enough to sit out .
Carrot and coriander soup simmering on the hob.

Keeping Urms and her DH in my prayers. 🙏💐

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Jun-23 17:18:11

I'm feeling a bit more like myself Grannmarie. I was distinctly grumpy at seven o'clock this morning but I am my usual sunny self. The boys have been good, the weather has been intermittent heavy showers but we've had a good day. I'm off to visit mum in half an hour then dinner on my return. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Grannmarie Mon 19-Jun-23 17:38:37

I'm glad to hear that, Grandmabatty. I hope your Mum is a wee bit brighter this evening.
Still no rain here today, cloud has lifted and its a lovely sunny afternoon/evening.

Yiayia4 Mon 19-Jun-23 18:45:35

Keep smiling Grandmabatty🌻
Good luck tomorrow Jax will be thinking of you.
Hello Grandmarie👋
We had a great time at DS1 yesterday. It rained heavily but the food was good and we had lots of laughs, the best medicine.
Today we viewed a ground floor apartment loads of private outside space.!!!
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

annsixty Mon 19-Jun-23 19:25:16

IS this the one Yia?
I'm sure you and the rest of us hope so.
All fingers and toes crossed.

Grandmabatty Mon 19-Jun-23 19:58:19

Yiayia I really hope this is the house for you. Fingers crossed 🤞 Mum was much brighter Grannmarie, thank you. She chatted away which she hasn't done for ages. She also was watching the tennis and was quite engrossed. That's also positive as she's just been lying in bed doing nothing. I've had dinner and I need to tidy up the kitchen. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Good evening kitchen pals, the sun has eventually come out this evening after a muggy cloudy day with a bit of rain. This morning I went to the gym followed by a trip to Tesco. I’d forgotten to buy milk so I had to go out again this afternoon which resulted in a trip to Aldi and then bargain hunting in the Dunelm sale … DH has been getting on really well these last couple of days and now down to just one crutch - he even made the dinner tonight whilst I was out shopping 😀
Hoping there’s good news soon Yia
Good to hear your mum was a bit better tonight grandmabatty
How lovely for your sister and BiL grannmarie, such a special time with a precious granddaughter ❤️
We’re so lucky not to be troubled too much with midges here Jax and soop but looks like it’s a bumper year ahead!
I took a picture of the water lilies on our little pond earlier, they started out pink but all seem to have turned out white this year

Grannmarie Mon 19-Jun-23 20:33:58

Hello 👋 YiaYia, that sounds like a great family day yesterday. The apartment sounds good, private outdoor space is excellent, fingers crossed!🤞

Grandmabatty, I'm glad you had a good visit with your Mum, it'll give you a wee lift.

Hello 👋 Annsixty, I hope you and your DGD are doing well.

Tomorrow DH and I are off in search of a compact, folding mobility scooter...

Still dry and warm here, the forecast showers did not happen, so I might just have to 💦 water the plants!

Grannmarie Mon 19-Jun-23 20:36:59

Beautiful photo, Brook, thank you. Sitting looking at that would be very restful.
MrB is coming on ' leaps and bounds', fantastic!

annsixty Mon 19-Jun-23 20:43:10

You have reminded me Grannmarie of something I did today
In July my friend across the road and I are going to Llandudno for 3 nights so today I have booked mobilty scooters for us to hire for two days.
Neither of us can walk far at all so we usually take our walkers but we dont think they will be enough for us to get around.
Hence the scooters.
I dont know how I feel about them but Im sure we will get akong fine.
I shall be 86 whilst we are there so I dont think I am being premature.
Have the best evening you can everyone, the sun is still out here.

Grannmarie Mon 19-Jun-23 21:00:39

Annsixty, DH finds that the scooter gives him such freedom, especially on holiday. We hired a super duper lightweight, folding scooter when we were in Benalmadena in May, and it's given him a notion to upgrade.
I hope you and your friend have a wonderful time in Llandudno.🌞🏖

SueDonim Mon 19-Jun-23 21:37:41

Fingers crossed for the apartment, Yia!

Sounds like your Dh is making excellent progress, Brook. I love the water lilies.

We had rain overnight here and then a heavy shower and thunder this afternoon. It’ll have done the gardens and farms good. A friend came and took me out today and we sat for a couple of hours in a cafe and blethered. We hadn’t seen each other for weeks and had a lot to catch up on.

I’m still not quite right. I feel that I’m over the illness itself but am a bit peelie wallie as they say in Scotland. Hopefully I’ll be restored to rude health soon.

The window cleaner came today, along with his wife who had decided to come and help out. We got chatting and she said she liked plants so I gave her a house plant, a tradescantia, of which I have loads as they keep multiplying. I congratulated myself on making a bit of space but it didn’t last long because the friend mentioned above with not just one but two plants (streptocarpus) for me. I’m not even back to square one, I’m now round the back of it! 🌸

cornergran Mon 19-Jun-23 22:10:29

Thinking mobility scooters. Both my parents used them, separately, at times in their lives. They gave great freedom and independence. Mr C and I have identified where we could store ours if needed. Neither of us would hesitate as an aid to living an enjoyable life. Hope you enjoy riding one ann.

Pleased your husband is recovering well brook. He’ll soon be walking without the need for a crutch. A day to celebrate.

🤞 for you yia.

Hope you’re properly better soon sued and your mum goes from strength to strength grandmab.

No rain here, some is forecast overnight. It will be welcome as long as it’s not too fierce.

Sleep well everyone.

Jaxjacky Tue 20-Jun-23 14:54:50

Afternoon everyone, we had a very reassuring chat with a haematology nurse practitioner this morning, new drugs started, in fact the first one taken there and then. Two subsequent appointments have come through via my NHS app already, I’m impressed.
I was woken by a storm at 04:50 this morning, heavy rain for a good hour, the garden will love it.
I’ll catch up with your news later, your good wishes for me are very much appreciated as is this haven to give and receive 🙂.

Blossoming Tue 20-Jun-23 15:14:47

So glad your appointment went well Jax. We’ve had heavy rain for a couple of days, drizzling today. Still hot though!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 20-Jun-23 16:26:09

Well done Jax on your medical news. I too was woken by rain in the early hours. I went to the picture framer and ordered a frame for my new print. Because it isn’t a standard size, it is being custom made which is of course more money! I spent time this afternoon preparing our one hanging basket. We used to have more but the other flowers and shrubs have rather taken over. I have used blue, purple and pink flowers.
I am looking forward to my National Portrait Gallery jaunt tomorrow. As I’m a member I can go the day before to a special preview day. They have sent a programme for the day and it should be wonderful.
I hope everyone is having a good day.
Here’s a photo of Milo and Ripley having one of their naps this morning.

Grandmabatty Tue 20-Jun-23 17:27:38

Good afternoon kitcheners. Jaxjacky excellent news on your medical issues. Ladyleftfieldlover I'm loving Milo and Ripley. I could imitate them right now.
This childcare lark is hard work! Neither boy is happy sitting drawing or reading. They are moving constantly or want entertained. Lots of "Grandma, look at this," type stuff from the big one. The wee one uses his form of sign language to let me know what he wants. I'm tired! Fortunately dd is visiting mum tonight so that gives me a night off. It's dd and Sil's eighth anniversary today. I thought they had been married nine years but I can't count. They are waiting til Friday night to celebrate which is very sensible. I am going to make a chicken curry in a while. Meantime I'm relaxing on the couch. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Nannytopsy Tue 20-Jun-23 20:31:55

Good evening! We finally had a decent amount of rain today, here in Suffolk. DH & I spent the day cleaning, for a visit at the weekend. SiL is bringing her two dogs for us to look after. We didn’t get a choice and they are horrible little dogs! They are badly behaved, smell and poo constantly. You can tell how much I am looking forward to next week! I have also been baking for tomorrow’s garden club. A talk on peonies which should be good.
Hope you all have a good evening.

brook2704 Tue 20-Jun-23 20:50:08

So pleased everything went well Jax let’s hope things are much improved from now on
We were out in town earlier picking up DGD from school and the heavens opened, torrential rain with flooded roads for about 15 mins. It had come on without any warning and I was a bit miffed that I’d left a whirligig full of washing out at home. Anyhow luckily it was dry here when we got back and the washing had dried perfectly. Surprising that it can be so different, we’re only about 5 miles out of town at the most!
Oh dear nannytopsy I don’t envy you!
Milo and Ripley look like they’ve got front row seats with a view there Llfl! Enjoy your day tomorrow
Another successful childcare day completed grandmabatty, I know how exhausting it can be especially on your own. You deserve a sit down and a treat. Wishing your DD and SiL a very Happy Anniversary 💐🥂💕

Jaxjacky Tue 20-Jun-23 21:45:03

Enjoy your preview day llfl the weather should be pleasant.
A chance to relax and enjoy your dinner Gbatty, you certainly deserve to.
Nannytopsy those dogs sound horrendous, no dogs allowed in our house I’m afraid, well behaved are welcome in the garden.
These hefty showers are very localised brook we had the early storm, yet a friend six miles away had nothing, they were a bit put out.
I hope you get your zing back soon SueD go steady until you’re 100%.

soop Wed 21-Jun-23 13:09:39

It will take me some time to catch up with you lovely lot. So, I promise to do so as soon as.

We are updating our wills. It is a lengthy process and needs to be done with due care and attention. It will take some time.

It is still far too hot and, I am wilting. hmm

Hair cut was successful. I shall share a photo in due course.

In the meantime, my love and best wishes to all our very special Kitcheners. smile
