Charleygirl5 Thu 27-Jul-23 21:37:21

Corner has said thank you for all of the messages of support. It was a long operation but he is now in ITU. corner was not allowed to visit but she and one son are going late tomorrow morning. As you can imagine she is exhausted so is having an early night.

Jaxjacky Thu 27-Jul-23 21:09:41

Hi all, a dully, cloudy day, but humid.
Hope you’re feeling better soop, lovely bird pictures.
We had a good chat with my with my daughter, grandchildren and my son, they all came round at the same time, talk was of holidays. Daughter plus children will be off to Menorca, son, his partner and her daughter off to Devon, both lots at different times, great to see them all.
Love the house ann, but too in the sticks for me.
I’m hoping Mrcorner is now recovering with corner in the background.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 27-Jul-23 19:14:10

Hello everyone. No news yet from the Corners?
I had a great time at Book Group. We talked about authors we had read recently and authors we wish had written more books. I said Jane Austen and P D James. OH is cooking tonight. Balti chicken with naan bread and rice, accompanied by yoghurt and aubergine pickle. Actually, it’s a new pickle as our favourite doesn’t seem to be made any more. It’s turned into quite a beautiful evening with blue skies and bright sunshine. Have a good evening, especially the Soops, the Corners and Urms.

brook2704 Thu 27-Jul-23 17:37:07

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s been a warm but wet day here in Inverness, grey clouds and light drizzle all day long. I’ve not come across Windy Wilson’s forecast yet SueD but I’ll certainly take a look - thanks - Love ‘moisture-catchers’ too!
Sorry to hear about your mum grandmabatty, a sad and worrying time ahead
Hoping to hear that all is well from corner soon
A beautiful holiday home Ann so pleased you’ve enjoyed spending time with your DD
Our plans changed as DGD has been round here most of the day so I’ve been busy but happy. She bought 3 board games round to play so we’ve been doing that and not much else. The conservatory table is still covered with ‘Ticket to Ride’ and we’ve strict instructions not to move anything until she returns 🤣 no idea how long that will be! I’ve seen a few Facebook photos of DGS at ScotJam - he’s looking very wet most of the time!

kittylester Thu 27-Jul-23 17:09:16

Just popped in for news of MrCorner but, while I wait, I will try some of that miraculous and delicious sounding ice cream.

That place looks fabulous ann.

Hope the head is ok,*soop*.

Blossoming Thu 27-Jul-23 16:54:45

Been a drizzly sort of day here. Lots more sorting, binning and shredding done. It’s a good job it’s black bin day tomorrow!

Those pics are lovely AnnSixty. I love remote places but I’m no longer able to cope with them either,

Mr.B is making a foo yung with some leftover ham and rice tonight, I must get showered as I’m dusty!

SueDonim Thu 27-Jul-23 16:43:57

I hope MrC is out of theatre and Cornergran is able to be with him as he recovers. flowers

That looks gorgeous, Annsixty. I do love a house with a veranda. I don’t think I’ll ever have one unless I win the football pools. (Do football pools even still exist??)

Those birds are cute, Soop. Today in the car I said to my passengers ‘’Look at all those oystercatchers!’. Granddaughter piped up ‘Nanna, what are moisture catchers?’ I think they’ll always been known as that now!

It’s been a wet day today, which is good for the garden but not much else, although the sun is now peeping out a little. GD is here until this evening, I’m about to start cooking her tea. Tomorrow we’ll have her wee brother until evening.

TOYA. Xxx

hulahoop Thu 27-Jul-23 15:11:03

Hope you are feeling better Soop. Happy retirement Blossoming.Hope your oh is out of theatre now Corner. I have been lazy today not done much at all ,will have to buck up my ideas.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 27-Jul-23 14:47:59

Oh dear soop please take care 😘

Baggs Thu 27-Jul-23 13:58:40

Hope all goes to plan, corner 🤞

soop Thu 27-Jul-23 13:54:05

My very best wishes to Corner and your dear husband.

Nurse is going to gently clean the damaged scalp tomorrow. Thanks for kind messages.

Baggs I've two more birdie images to share in our kitchen. Here they be....one has to have the patience of a saint...which I'm not. wink

Grandmabatty Thu 27-Jul-23 13:24:45

It looks lovely Annsixty. A bit too isolated for me too. Suedonim I follow Windy Wilson too. He's often more accurate than the Met. Office.
I was horrified at the amount of spiders webs and dust when I tackled the boys' bedroom this morning. However it's all sorted. I've even reorganised the wardrobe. I'm just waiting for the toy storage to arrive, then I'll build it and tackle the toys. Tomorrow is shopping for new curtains and a lampshade. I had unhappy news from a nurse about mum. Not unexpected but disappointing. She still has delirium and a degree of cognitive impairment. I have thought that for a while, so I'm not surprised but as she wouldn't do poa, we will be at the mercy of social services ultimately.

annsixty Thu 27-Jul-23 11:55:15

The middle pic is my D in the hot tub, she has used it everyday.
The last one is our gate to the river.
Sadly the ground is too rough for me to go down the path.
Rather disappointing about that, but really not safe for me.

annsixty Thu 27-Jul-23 11:52:14

Good morning all.
Thinking of Cornergran in her wait today.
Our last day here today and I have been out and taken some photos as a memory for me.
I will just show you three.
This is a 100 year old fishing lodge and country retreat built for his own use by the Architect who designed the Liver Building in Liverpool.
It was restored two years ago by the current owners.
It is both Ancient and Modern.
All luxury mod cons with original features retained.
Very very isolated, too much for some!!

Foxygloves Wed 26-Jul-23 23:15:41

My good wishes too Cornergran xx - keeping everything crossed for you both.
Suedonim I’d be the size of a whale if I stayed in bed for 3 months, but it’s a tempting thought. Poor Rosie might be putting herself on the rehoming list too.
Wishing all Kitcheners a peaceful night

Blossoming Wed 26-Jul-23 23:08:39

Just dropping by to wish the Corners all the best for tomorrow.

Glad your OH is improving Brook.

Thanks for the retirement good wishes, the chucking out is making me feel better. Lots of happy memories being stirred up, I really was lucky to have a job I enjoyed with wonderful people.

Sleep tight all x

SueDonim Wed 26-Jul-23 22:36:08

I think you’re probably right about rest being the best thing for PF, Foxy but it’s hardly practical, is it? grin The physio said three months in bed would cure it but I suspect you’d end up with a host of other problems instead. I did notice when I was hors de combat for almost a week last month with a kidney infection that my foot was much better for a few days.

I’ll be thinking of you and your Dh tomorrow, Cornergran. Very best wishes for the op. 🍀

Naughtyneine the recipe I used for ice cream I think was a Waitrose one. Basically, sugar, clotted cream, whipped cream and condensed milk all bashed up together. The best thing is that because it’s homemade, there are no calories! I’ll leave some here in the Kitchen for others to judge as to its merits.

Soop that fall sounds dreadful. You poor thing, you must be aching from head to toe. Take care, please. flowers I love the photo of the birds. 🐦

Happy proper retirement, Blossoming!

Your holiday sounds a huge success after your reservations, Annsixty.

It was a bit warmer here today as well, Brook - a heady 19.5deg. Do you follow Windy Wilson on Facebook? He’s ‘Scotland’s greatest amateur weather forecaster’ (and modest with it!) and his forecasts are generally pretty accurate. He’s v funny.

We began the day with our personal trainer putting us through our paces. We have a laugh with him, too. Next up was a visit to the dump with a ridiculous amount of cardboard. Then I returned the light fitment that didn’t fit, expecting them not to accept it because the packaging had been opened, but they refunded my money so good for them. I also returned some summer clothes that I purchased on a hot day down south but when viewed in a Scottish summer I knew I’d never wear. 😂

This evening I had a very frustrating call to a bank with whom I have had a credit card for 25+ years. They’ve blocked my account, basically because of a misunderstanding, and I had to send two forms of ID to them, to unblock it. I did that but they’re now claiming they didn’t receive the letter and want me to send the ID again. What don’t they understand about me not being able to resend it because they’re lost. 😫😫😫 So I’ve now got to scratch about to get other ID and start all over again. Gah!

Anyway, enough moans for now. Peaceful dreams to you all. Xxx

gillgran Wed 26-Jul-23 21:08:15

Ouch! soop, that was a nasty fall. Falls shake us up, as well as any injury. I do hope you soon feel better.

Thinking of you & your DH, Corner, all the best for tomorrow.

Enjoy the last day of your holiday, annsixty.

Warm wishes for you all, especially those with added problems & worries.

Baggs Wed 26-Jul-23 19:46:53

SOOOOOOP!! Please stop falling on your face! I think you had better get a little sit-upon-ery, as we call them, for shoe removing activities or a shoe-puller-offer gadget. Would MrSoop be a willing shoe removal elf? Do take care.

MrB informs me he has bought me an iron teapot, Chinese style, in Basel. I have a bit of a teapot breaking reputation. Ahem.

A good chuck-out can be very cathartic, Bloss. Hope you have a relaxing evening.

We don't see starlings much here, Kitty. One of my fond childhood memories is from when my dad took us into the Bowland Fells to watch a starling murmuration. It was awesome.

Jaxjacky Wed 26-Jul-23 18:33:29

Good grief soop I hope you’re feeling less shaken
It’s tipping it down here and feels decidedly cool, I got out for a walk before the rain, got a parcel posted, washed floors and watered the greenhouse.
I’ll be thinking of you both tomorrow corner.
Good to hear Blossoming pleased the clear out is going well too and you’re slowly embracing retirement.
Enjoy you’re last day ann it’s lively you’re having a relaxing break with your daughter and enjoying it.
Mrbrook is recovering well brook you’ll soon be able to have your chauffer back!
Have a pleasant evening all.

brook2704 Wed 26-Jul-23 18:19:34

It’s been a lovely sunny day here in Inverness so after a busy morning at the gym I’ve been busy in the garden this afternoon. Feeling a bit whacked now so it’ll be a quiet evening in front of the TV
Good to hear you’re beginning to enjoy your retirement a bit more now Blossoming, time to do exactly what you want and as much of it as you can - enjoy every minute, you deserve it!
It has been cold SueD but todays been a bit warmer, don’t think it’ll last though, - Scottish summers eh!
Thank you for asking neine, yes DH had his first tentative drive out today. I think he was a bit nervous but he was fine. I can hopefully hang up my chauffeur hat very soon now 😀
I’ve still got lots of toys here grandmabatty that the DGC have definitely outgrown. Funny thing is though that when they’re here they still get them out and play with them, they sort of regress a few years. One of their favourite games is still playing shop - it has become slightly more sophisticated over the years but basically I’ve still to go in and buy things 🤣
Enjoy your last day Ann, sounds like you’ve had a lovely time away with your DD
Hoping all goes well for MrCorner tomorrow, I’ll be thinking of him and you too corner, try not to worry too much
Hope you get a nap later nannytopsy or at least an early night

Nannytopsy Wed 26-Jul-23 18:03:00

I hope your headache has gone completely soop and that your head is not too sore. Scalps do bleed profusely. I expect Mr S is as shaken as you.
DH did something similar in the strawberry bed recently and flattened a section of plants but fortunately there wasn’t a wall in the way.
We have gardened and now its a quick shower before I make sausage rolls for the WI café tomorrow morning. To be honest, I’d rather have a nap! 😉
Take care everyone, especially soop and best wishes to MrC tomorrow.

annsixty Wed 26-Jul-23 17:37:31

Goodness Soop as they say here ,you need to take more water with it.
I do hope you are ok and not “too damaged”.
My D and I had a morning out again but back for a late lunch as rain was promised and it came.
We have spent a couple of hours reading, mine was with my eyes closed!!
We went to Rhyl to se if it had improved over the years.
Sad to say it hasn’t .
One more full day and then back to routine but it has been so enjoyable.
Thinking of Corner and her DH and so many others are never far from my mind.

Grandmabatty Wed 26-Jul-23 16:43:30

Soop how frightening for you and Mr Soop. I hope you feel better soon. Take it very gently.
I have cleared out the boys' room and ordered toy storage. What a load of rubbish I unearthed as well as toys they have outgrown or no longer play with. So a charity shop visit is on the cards. It's very therapeutic. Salmon salad for dinner later. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 26-Jul-23 16:42:14

Gordon Bennett Soop! I hope you’re resting a bit and watching those birds.
Our cleaner came today which was a relief. I had bits of admin to do and then OH and I went out for lunch. It was lovely to sit outside in the sunshine (it’s a different story now as it’s cold and wet). Lunch was delicious. OH enjoyed liver and bacon, which he hasn’t had for years. I had fillet steak. I’m relaxing on the sofa now with one of the cats and reading Private Eye. Have a good evening.
