So deeply sorry.
I have no words but am sure others with more experience of this tragic topic will be along soon.

So very sorry Mandymoo, I cannot imagine anything worse.I do hope there is a help line you can access. I know its one minute, one hour at a time at first, there is nothing you could have done, itโ€™s such a terrible shock to you and his family. Hope others come forward and wish I had the right words.

I send my condolences.

We have not lost a child to suicide, but across the years my biological father, my maternal grandfather and my sister-in-law all took their own lives and left behind devastated and guilt-ridden family.

I know there are specialist online services specially set up by and for parents affected by child suicide and specialist counselling services.

I wish you all the very best flowers

I am very sorry for your loss. It must be the worst thing ever. I lost my son last year, but not to suicide.

Oh Mandymoo it would kill me. I really feel so sorry for anyone facing this. my friends son did this at age 21 he had absolutely everything a lad could wish for, a very well off family, heโ€™d had a very good education and exceptional holidays , cars etc etc He rang his mum and told her he was going to kill himself, she rushed there but heโ€™d already done it
Totally heartbreaking
Sending you a handhold x ๐Ÿ’

*Mandymoo' I am so sorry to learn of your tragedy. It is such early days, and still very, very raw. People will tell you that time heals -and Yes, it does, but lots and lots of time.

My youngest child died when he was 25 years old, with a brilliant future ahead of him. I was fortunate that at least I had other children. This was 24 years ago,but the grief is still there and the huge gap in our family.

It was two years before I started to come out of that first grief. After five years of meeting up on the anniversary of his death, we stopped that and started to celebrate his life on what would have been his birthday each year.

All our homes have photos of him and the next generation (only one of whom was born when he died), all know about him and refer to him as their Uncle 'G'.

Do not be afraid to talk about David as much as you wish. People sometimes get embarrassed and will try to stop you - tell them you need to talk about what he was and did. Don't be afraid to bore people about this. It can help you.

Sadly, you will find so many people who have an adult child who died, many by their own hands, do not be afraid to share your grief with them.

Do hope you have other family and friends who can be there to support you. I can remember breaking down in anger at one point - and having a total temper tantrum, screaming and throwing things, banging the table - it did help to give me some relief.

Just be kind to yourself. Just remember that he would have wanted you to live and eventually to get back to enjoying your life.

My nephew did this. My sister walked a different path in life I keep thinking how strong she was but she told me she had no choice. We talk a little bit about her son now as itโ€™s twenty years but I let her lead and listen when she mentions his name. I hope you have support and a good friend to listen and guide.

Thankyou that's really helped me
I have noticed people change the topic or don't mention him
I think it's going to take forever and I must learn to live like this ,thankyou all for your helpful words

My friend lost her 19 year old son to suicide in June 2020. She found MIND extremely supportive. She now volunteers for them to support others in this dreadful situation. Her empathy and experience is invaluable to people the way it was to her 6 years ago.

Thankyou that's really helpful

Very sorry for this loss....suicide is a complex grief and incredibly difficult to navigate. Please know you are cared for even across this anonymous forum. Xxx

I lost my brother to suicide. Joined my local branch of SOBS. It helped and as the people who went said, no-one really understands unless they have experienced this themselves.
You need to talk about him, but most people are not very good in this situation.
There are many helpful organisations apart from SOBS, who have helplines.
