Don’t know about global warming, bit I reckon we’re heading for another ice age 😱😱

The variations are amazing. After being plagued by constant grey skies for what felt like forever the arrival of sunshine has been wonderful. Yes, it’s been windy although it always is here by the coast. In sheltered spots (like our back garden) it’s been very warm, of course much less so in the shade. I’m just grateful to see a blue sky, we’ll be back to grey all too soon and others will have the sun. I can remember my Mum wearing her jumpers at this time of year while muttering ‘flaming June’. Looks like one of those years.

Winter jumper out: heating on tuesday evening.

I too remember that snow on June 1st. We were living in Malta and had just been told we were being posted to the north of Scotland when someone told us there was snow on the runway that morning at RAF Kinloss! But then came the summer of '76 and we were warmer there than in Malta. Weather's always topsy turvy in Britain!

Spent the day in Curlywhirly-land, Cheshire, with friends. Chilly morning required an extra later or two but post 1pm it was glorious: sunny, warm, picnic weather.

My feet are freezing despite woolly socks, 3 layers, scarf and thick blanket while watching tv.
Now in bed electric blanket full on .
This call it spring weather joke has been the same for the past week or more. Prior to that the cold wind hasn’t abated.
Greetings to those enjoying good weather can’t wait fir it to reach us in the chilly east of the South East.

JackyB

Here in Central Europe I've spent the last two days on the sofa, suffering from the heat. And I had hoped to clean all the windows this week.

It's no use cleaning them when it's sunny, JackyB

You think you've done a wonderful job, then when the sun starts to go down, you can see all the smears left on them.

Yes, I've tried everything! Including vinegar 🙂

Hope it cools down for you soon.

I was watching TV with a heated pad sitting on my thighs and a blanket was on top. After a shower, I will be going to bed with a hot water bottle. I live in N W London.

It is the wind that is the problem; out of the wind and in the sun, the weather is lovely, but get in the shade or in the open where the wind can get you and it is cold.

glammagran Wed 31-May-23 22:54:51

I can scarcely believe the weather forecasts atm. They keep talking about glorious sunshine and warmth. The biting NE wind has made it really chilly, no sun until the afternoon and despite mentioning very little rain was in the forecast it poured during the night. Covered myself with a fleece this evening but will not go back to the electric heated throw otherwise I’ll never stop using it.

I’m grateful for every cool day. I loathe hot weather.

I’m with you, give me….🥶🥶 every time! 🤓

BlueBelle Wed 31-May-23 22:23:36

So it’s you Grandma70 can you emigrate to Iceland for a few months so we can get some warmth into our old bones please

Curlywhirly Wed 31-May-23 22:11:02

Been gorgeous here (for a few days now) in Cheshire. Saturday and Sunday were really hot. Cooler this morning, but lovely and sunny this afternoon. However, it does feel a little chilly once the sun goes down, but not cold enough to need the heating on.

Last few days it's been sunny and quite warm but today chilly and cloudy. My bedroom feels cold I have teddy dressing gown on and teddy bootee slippers!

Patsy70 Wed 31-May-23 21:48:43

What’s the betting that as soon as the sun shines through and the wind drops that people will start to complain about the heat? Admittedly, I don’t ‘sunbathe’, but so love the long warm, breezy days in the garden. 😊

pascal30 Wed 31-May-23 21:46:10

Really hot today but with a strong breeze

kittylester Wed 31-May-23 21:34:05

My friend who has a shop in the village was wearing her coat this afternoon. The shop keepers on the High Street all keep their doors open but it's hard for them when it's cold.

brook2704 Wed 31-May-23 21:32:40

A bit cloudy this morning but sunny in Inverness this afternoon and about 19º - it’s been the same all week! 😎

mamaa Wed 31-May-23 21:26:21

Yep cold here on Suffolk coast so put on heating last night, and an extra blanket over the summer quilt too. Long trousers and long sleeved top worn with gilet over that during the day. Hope June heralds more seasonal weather and this cloud and bitter wind go away! Fed up with it now-hmm

HousePlantQueen Wed 31-May-23 21:21:34

Heating on. My poor tomato plants have just been put outside, moved from the greenhouse. Well, it was warm on Sunday.......
