Good Morning Sunday 4th June 2023

Late Good Morning to Mick, Annie, and all. We have been to Church, and afterwards stayed for coffee and a browse around the book stall that is raising funds for the Church. I brought home more than I donated.
There was also a FairTrade table, but I resisted. Last time I bought a pack of 6 chocolate bars, and didn't like them at all.

Greyduster, I also have had a sore itchy, runny eye. I think it must be late onset hay fever. This is the first year that I have been affected.
Ginster, we moved to Rayleigh in 1961, when we got married. Lived there for 7 years, then moved to Berkshire, where we have been ever since.
I also had notification that Ernie had come up trumps, winning £525.00. The most I have ever won. It will pay for my new garden bench and kitchen roller blind 🤗
The garden bench came with no instructions, so I am trying to download a manual, and then tell the seller which parts are missing.
Karmalady your bottled gooseberries will be delicious.

Going to try and pot up some sunflower seedlings, if I can see outside.
Then lamb chops for dinner tonight.

Welcome MargeauxBordeaux. Your meal sounds delicious. I'm a big fan of fennel. It feels like 22° here in sunny central Scotland. I've been out in the garden most of the morning but now I'll make apricot jam as it's too hot for me to sit out just now. Ironing is all done, last washing is on the whirly and I've watered the garden and pruned some shrubs and weeded. I've done an hour of Spanish too.

Lovely day in Chester yesterday and I love the ease of taking the train rather than driving. The only bonus of driving is I practise my songs in the car and can have a good warm up.
My friend is in a poor way with his detached retina, it’s affected him so much and made him very hesitant and unsteady.
A lunch in the cathedral refectory and a walk on the walls.
He played some of his piano pieces for a concert for me, but I dislike being in his house, the smell of cats is overpowering and it’s sexist to say so, but it’s a typical bachelor’s place. I just don’t feel comfortable there and he badly needs a cleaner. I’d stay overnight if I could face it and I’m not fussy.
Didn’t sleep well and took a pill eventually, so groggy today.

Since we both work, we are simply relaxing today and shall have a lovely home baked classic Italian meatloaf with a simple fennel - orange and field green salad with a vinaigrette.

I’ve the shading net up in the greenhouse , but it’s still boiling in there ,, I splashed water on the flagstones to cool it down a bit
Youngest Daughter is due for an overnight stopover about lunchtime, it will be lovely to see her , middle son is delighted that she is here on his birthday

Morning from sunny S Lanarkshire. I had a very productive cleaning day yesterday ( I know it was lovely outside but I am no housewife and have to do it when the spirit moves me!)

Today I will take up to farm daughter and son in law. It’s their Pearl wedding anniversary but no real celebration as she is still having to be extremely careful after her detached retina op. It will be just a brief visit but I want to mark the occasion.

Really interesting to read about the Chinese birth customs Shazza. The idea of having to stay at home with support for a month sounds wonderful!

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton. Nothing really planned for today, except sit and read in the garden after lunch -which is what I did yesterday.

Also visited the library yesterday morning, and came home with three more books. I need to finish my book club read first, though, which I am two thirds of the way through. Had a really nice coffee in the sunshine at the sports centre first - it was absolutely buzzing there, as there was some sort of children's football festival going on outside on the playing fields.

Doubt whether I shall speak to anyone today (except myself!). But I have plenty to read, and will keep myself occupied. Roast chicken for dinner tonight, and a sausage butty for a late brunch.

Good morning from a lovely sunny day in Essex by the sea.
We had a very late night after a great evening listening to a very loud band at the yacht club. They were good and I think everyone had a lovely time.
We are back there this afternoon for a BBQ, hopefully the sun will stay out and it will be another great day.
We have to leave very early in the morning, about 5'sh to drive to Kent so that DH can meet up with a friend, on his boat, to motor up to Teddington. I'll drive the car back to Essex.
I am thinking of those with illness or worries and I hope everyone finds a ray of sunshine somewhere today xxx

Good morning from a sunny Black Country.

Almost finished packing yesterday, we are going away for 3 weeks, so will pop over to Mums this afternoon.

My friend just text me and asked if I would like to join her for a walk to the park and coffee in the cafe there.

I have suffered with watery, itchy eyes for a long time and put it down to Hay Fever Greyduster but it was happening in the winter to. Doctor said it was dry eyes, so now I have drops twice a day, and it seems to have cured it (fingers crossed).

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s currently rather grey in South Yorkshire but it started off like that yesterday and boy was it hot. My new David Austin rose is a beauty but doesn’t like the hot weather. It looked positively miserable yesterday. I’m currently having problems with my eyes - they were very itchy and watery yesterday all day - I wonder if it’s hay fever. Or too much iPad!! The pharmacy is closed today but I’ll have a look in the supermarket to see if they have anything soothing. DD and the menfolk are coming for curry later - special request from GS. Hopefully we will be able to eat outside. It will make the boys sing for their supper - my mattress needs turning!

Yesterday evening spent a long time watering my very big garden as no rain is predicted for at least 10 more days. snag is one spots the weeds too but positive is watching everything come out. and a good gym session.

So today is a day or rest except for Quakers.

Having been brought up in Hull I am wishing was gong to Filey (we went every year) and Robin Hood's Bay (my all time fave spot). And karma gooseberries my best fruit what a brilliant crop.

I was looking out the window at 2am at 2 young foxes running around and wondering if they were the same ones who killed the 2 young crow fledgling that I was filming in the garden only on Friday. So sad to see this happen. Fantastic full moon which lit up the garden.

A visit from the grandchildren later this afternoon before they go back to school tomorrow. We will sit in the garden and enjoy ice cream.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 11° with cloud which should burn off mid morning, according to Windy Wilson, a Scottish amateur meteorologist and he rarely is wrong. It's nice to hear about days out and unexpected visitors.
Yesterday's good weather meant I stripped the bed and washed everything to hang it out on the line. I did go to the local garden centre and spent a fortune on bedding plants but they've brightened up the garden. I did some pruning too. I made a really tasty chicken curry for dinner with enough left for tonight and I'll be able to freeze some too.
Today I'm making apricot jam. Aldi had lovely apricots so I bought enough to make about six or seven jars. I then have to iron everything from yesterday. Later I'll visit mum who is improving but very very slowly. There should be time to sit in the garden too! Have a good day all

DH and I got engaged 47 years ago, in Kelvingrove Park, in the shadow of the University of Glasgow after my last exam. Where have the years gone?
It was all very romantic 💕💕💕💕 If only he knew what he had signed up for. 😉

Today will be a day of doing nothing, believe that if you will, I need to go searching for my oomph. 😉

Last night, a lady tried to get into church, when I was locking up. She had totally got the time of the Vigil Mass wrong.
She asked if I was MD ( I am infamous) and it turned out that she was originally from the Isle of South Uist and knew a late friend of mine. We chatted for ages and I had never met even the lady before. DH thought something was amiss, I was so late home!

As always prayers said for the poorlies, lots of candles lit at Mass last night.

I just pottered about at little jobs yesterday and today will be much the same. I shall probably get a plant or two into the garden and go for a walk after lunch. I have my new hose to contend with, putting the old one together was simple but I'm struggling to understand the new one. It comes with a 'user manual'....this simply tells you what's in the box, no diagrams/words on how to put it together!
I'm another who's going to take advantage of the weather and will change my bedding a day early. btw, it's taken me years to get over my upbringing re laundry--you didn't do it or hang it out on a Sunday. And we weren't a deeply religious family though I suspect my mother would have cared what the neighbours thought.

Good morning from a cloudy Tyne & Wear where I was woken by the heating coming on.
Had a good journey home from Scotland with no delays. DS and GD2 stayed a few hours at mine to rest before continuing their journey home. I made a store cupboard curry and it was surprisingly good.
DIL drove with GD1 but unfortunately there was a motor cycle accident in Dundee and they were hours behind us.
Today I am going to have a lazy day and read my novel.
Thoughts are with the Urmstons and others with health issues.

Yesterday walked little pooch up to Rayleigh mount. So beautiful with masses of wild flowers, the perfume hit you as you entered the pathway. Might go again today.🤔. It’s a bit of a climb but so worth it.

I’m not sure if Dd will come over today. I’ll wait to hear.
DS1 and DIL will probably pop in for a cuppa at some stage.

Good morning from another glorious sunny day.

We returned from our holiday in North Yorkshire yesterday after horrendous journeys both ways, both a couple of hours longer than anticipated because of a combination of huge volumes of traffic, roadworks and an accident last Saturday.

We had a lovely time with a few days out but much of the time spent in the peaceful spot of Thorgill just outside Rosedale Abbey. It was eldest GD’s 17th birthday whilst we were there and we all enjoyed an excellent meal in the small Italian restaurant in Pickering. The RC priest came in to collect his take away so we knew it would be good.

I haven’t had time to read all last week’s posts but note from a quick skim through of yesterday’s that there are a lot of worries about illnesses of loved ones. I hope that there is some easing of them and hope follows.

Lots of laundry to do today and DS and family are coming to collect the car bought for eldest GD’s birthday which has been stored here. She is a lucky girl but deserves it. She is a kind and thoughtful young lady and a helpful big sister to her younger sister and brother.
