Hate summer

I’m wearing a jumper here near the Norfolk coast! Sunshine but a very chilly breeze.

I love summer when it has a breeze, and the endless light nights are here. HATE the autumn and winter. What! Who the hell likes dark nights.

The wind plus heat in my part of the UK has caused heat stress in my youngest tree, look out for yellowing floppy leaves as the first indicator. I had been watering, now and them but probably too close to the stem and too much at once. I have changed that to a longslow and steady sprinkling in a bigger circle around the tree. I am hoping it survives, the other baby rowan in a different position is looking much better but is also showing very early signs

I am not a heat lover at all, give me spring and summer any day. Two weeks ago, one hour outside when it felt warm but in a cool wind, my lower legs got burned and are now peeling. It really caught me out. I haven`t peeled since I was a child and sunburn does hurt

I am happy so long as the temperature stays at the 20-22C level - when it gets hotter I sweat really badly (menopause) and have to carry a small towel in my bag when I go out. Not a fan of extreme heat, especially as it is often accompanied by high humidity here in the UK. I prefer late Spring and early Autum when it is warm enough to go without a coat but not actually hot. Winter is fine except I am developing arthritis in my hands which is worse in cold weather.

35C and 65% humidity here in the US Great Lakes region. Cannot leave the air conditioned house as the air quality is very poor due to smoke from the Canadian wildfires wafting across Lake Erie. My city is amongst the 10 most affected. I have friends in New York City (currently the most
polluted air in the world) who tell me it's like a dystopian novel there. I must say the pictures of NYC remind me of the descent from Palm Springs into Los Angeles during the 70s, although that smog was yellow green instead of orange. Hoping for improvement by the weekend! At least we have Der Trumpenführer being indicted to entertain us!

We've seen the air pollution from the fires on our news here, Quichette. Some people who were out were often wearing masks (but not all).

I hope they manage to put them out soon.

I'm dreading the next two days here in London. 30C is a bit too hot for me (with high humidity) so no gardening and only early dog walking. I've shaded the south windows with some old sheets but I do hate being stuck indoors with the noisy AC on.

I like very short bursts of heat maybe 27/28 degrees, then a regular summer temperature of about 21 degrees..... with rain just at night..... for the garden.

Energy low anyway, but love to see people enjoying themselves and me not needing a cardi just nice loose clothes, and the sun drying the clothes outside...

Funny, could have written this myself!

Spring has always been my favourite season, with Summer as a close runner -up. As regards Summer temperatures, I'm quite comfortable up to around 27 degrees, but I do hate the heatwaves we've been increasingly experiencing in recent years. Even up here on the Northumbrian coast we crept up into the mid 30's a couple of times last Summer. Combined with high humidity it was awful, and I'm not looking forward to a repeat. How some of you folk down in the "deep south" cope with those record temperatures.. 40 degrees plus!!.. I just don't know.

Up to 28 due today in Hampshire, nudging me out of my comfort zone, about 25/26 suits, the storms are looking to miss us annoyingly.

I like the dark nights as well Aveline light the fire, cosy up with a good book what's not to like.

I hope I’m not the only one who enjoys all the seasons, though I will make a partial exception for the recent winter - it seemed so very long and cold - was it ever going to warm up again?

You’re not alone Witzend. I love the different seasons but don’t get on well with very hot weather.

So all you summer haters, I highly recommend you stay indoor s today! Promises to be hot and humid I think.

Me? I shall do a little light gardening and then make some home made lemonade before retreating under my garden umbrella with “Hester” - and light snoozing.

Summer has been a long time coming this year after all those particularly cold, grey and wet days of early and not so early Spring, so I'm just happy it's finally arrived. Hot today but not unbearably so. Everything is going great guns in our garden, I'm not very well up on flowers, but the fruits of my husband's labours are very evident right now. Sunshine lifts the spirits imo and I love outdoor living, especially early morning and evening sun, it's all too brief, I'm making the most of it.

I used to love the hot weather when I was younger but now find it too hot 😔

My favourite season is autumn, bedding down and hibernating ahead. Today I had a very big load of logs which I have stashed. Sweep coming next week and just the boiler to get serviced

Until then it is a matter of keeping the garden and insects happy. My rowan tree liked the steady trickle of water, I think it is saved. Right now I am awaiting a good thunderstorm and it is warm out but turned nicely dull. 23 out,I can cope with that and the north easterly has gone, comfortable to sit out. yesterday was not nice, 27 and very breezy

I always have very cold hands and feet sadly, it's only with weather like now that I feel warm. I'm very jealous of people who have warm feet. So no complaints from me.

Hot weather only arrived here yesterday. It's the flies I hate. Where do they all come from? A load of little flies hovering constantly above the kitchen floor. 😡

I have the same Fudgemonkey hands, feet but also my nose is always cold, I keep wondering why.
Not now though summer in the south started yesterday fir us.

No! I love it!

I'm loving this summer now it is actually sunny. My beloved garden is lush and exuberant.....and we've just got the keys for an allotment.
I'm as excited as a child at Christmas.
