Bluebalou, I’ve taken to lining my nostrils with Vaseline, and rubbing some around my eyes. It seems to help a lot - physical barriers, in effect.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° with a hint of sun. Marydoll I hope you have an easy day. I'm struggling just now with this particular virus. However I will have to go to Aldi as I've very little food in. Then it'll be another easy day for me. Have a good day all

Grammaretto Sat 10-Jun-23 07:46:36

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I was cold last night but it's supposed to warm up again today. everywhere that is apart from the NE coast, Taichinan

My df came for supper last night so I am making my coffee morning cake now. I've set the timer as I could really do with another hour's sleep.

It will be the same as the last time Mick as to a liquid diet the day before your surgery. I think they don't mean beer but keep hydrated.
I hope it goes ahead this time.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Marydoll Sat 10-Jun-23 07:41:28

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where its 11°C, with more sun forecast.

I'm struggling at the moment, so will do nothing today.
DD brought me some shopping last night, to save me going out, which was kind of her, considering she had been at work since 7am.

Those were beautiful photos yesterday Pittcity, l'm looking forward to seeing more!
I have lost track of who is on holiday, but wishing you al la lovely time.

Good news about your DH, Brook and Taichnan, it's understandable that you are fretting about your GD's journey.

Have a pleasant day everyone.

Morning from an already warm S Hants at 18.
The pool man Oops that does remind me of holidays, I always thought it looked a very méditative job.
Your life is settling gMattie, I’m pleased.
Hope he hasn’t got a bell brook!
I’ve got to go to a phone shop today as my mobile is playing up, only 6 weeks old, a pain.
Other than that, it’ll be a day of shutters, opening windows and hoping fora storm.
Enjoy yours 🦩🦩

Good morning all and what a change in weather from a few days ago. I don’t like it too hot and I wish we were by the sea.

Yesterday was lovely sitting out with our friends for lunch in our usual country pub. Two weeks ago we were inside huddled around the fire. One couple were unable to come as she is poorly with cellulitis and he with advanced Parkinson’s. I don’t know how they’re managing really! I will pop over with flowers and sympathy, but there’s not a lot I can do to help.

Not sure what our weekend holds for us, so we’ll take it as it comes.

Brook glad your dh is home and recovering well
Ash what a good job you hadn’t been away too long.
Taichi try not to worry. As you say these youngsters take it all in their stride.
Karma I hope your logs arrive. So frustrating waiting!
GM I’m sure your cakes will be great and you’ll be asked to make more .

Enjoy the weekend everyone and take care in the sun. 🌞

Good morning all from a dull North Leicestershire. I expect it will be hot later.

Our Sing it Happy choir are singing at a Fete in a nearby village this afternoon- hope they can find us a shady spot.

ginny Sat 10-Jun-23 07:34:01

Good morning. We have had a great time in Bath but going home today. We shall have brunch and then say Good bye to our friends. May stop somewhere on the way home or just get back and relax for a while.

Wishing all a good day with some sunshine and smiles.

Morning Mick, morning All. A cloudy start to our corner of Somerset.

Forsythia had its most severe short back and sides yet. Looks very bare. Could I have got a little carried away? Of course! The threatened storm didn’t appear, so dry out there.

Laundry dried and ironed yesterday there’s a need for a food shop today. No trolley though grandmattie, lazy bones here will use the car. Not sure what else, perhaps not much, weary today.

I’d be anxious too taichinan, safe travels to your granddaughter and anyone else venturing out. I’m also thinking liquid diet tomorrow until midnight Mick but why not call the ward and check? I’m sure they will help. Good luck with that delivery karmalady.

Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Greyduster Sat 10-Jun-23 07:19:33

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a currently rather grey South Yorkshire. If it follows yesterday’s pattern, it will be hot later. Take it easy this weekend now you have the green light, Mick.
I have a quiet day today, but we are going out for dinner this evening to celebrate the end of GS’s exams. I hope we have something to celebrate when the results come through!
Taichinan your GD will go from strength to driving strength but it’s our default setting to worry about everything they do.
Lovely photos Ash!
Have the best day you can folks.

Taichinan Sat 10-Jun-23 07:16:55

So glad your DH is well enough to enjoy waitress service Brook. This recovery stage may last sometime ..... 😉

BlueSapphire Sat 10-Jun-23 07:14:01

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton. Up early this morning as I have decided to have a day out in Milton Keynes, rather.than sit here on my own for the weekend. I have some M&S vouchers to spend! I will have lunch out, which will save me cooking tonight. And wine 🍷 may be taken.....

A.good shopping trip yesterday, got everything I needed. Met an ex-teaching colleague and had a nice chat. But my goodness, have I got hay fever, which I've never had before! I'm ok indoors, but as soon as I step outside my nose is streaming. I'm taking anti-histamines but nothing seems to work. And my nose is getting really sore from all the blowing. Might see if I can find something else in Boots today.

Finished another book yesterday, so on to the next library book tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Good morning from a promised hot South Downs. It must have been a warm night as the dog left his bed and slept under an open window.

A day of doing very little except of course the garden. I’m going to plant the canna now that the north wind is retreating. Weed a bed and tie in etc. The roses are fabulous this year. It must have been the oh so wet winter?

Baby starlings are coming to the garden on their own now, independently of their parents. My fox was sat waiting patiently for his/her supper last night, must say looking in fine fettle which is good to see.

Pork stir fry for dinner with mango, mangetout and anything else suitable I can find.

karmalady Sat 10-Jun-23 07:08:52

Good morning from a very pleasant s somerset. I don`t think it will be as hot as the 27 yesterday

I am dressed and moved my car, the logs should be here today but he is not the best communicator of days/times. I have been waiting four months. If there is no communication by lunchtime them I will have to ring again. It is a perfact day for them to be dumped here and with a dry day for me to move them. There will be enough for more than three years. I just don`t like the uncertainty when people don`t confirm dates and times

I woke at 2, I think I slept heavy and my internal organs were not comfortable. I went back to sleep and then up at 6. I wonder if this early waking is a vestige of the two sleeps that primitive people used to have. It is unusual for me to sleep through but blissful when I do

Wishing you a lovely day

brook2704 Sat 10-Jun-23 07:04:41

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the suns up and we’ve a forecast high of 25º today!
So pleased to hear how well you seem to be settling in gMattie I’m sure your home made cakes will go down a treat and be very much appreciated
I collected DH from hospital late afternoon yesterday and alls well. Thank you again for all your kind wishes, it really is appreciated. He’s still very tired so sleeping a lot but doing ok. I’ve no need to go out today so I’ll be pottering in the garden and enjoying the weather and I expect he’ll be sat in the conservatory dozing with his book - and making the most of the waitress service!
Taichinan I’d be exactly the same worrying about the driving, 160 miles is quite an adventure for the new driver but I know they take it in their stride. I remember my youngest DD doing something very similar the evening she passed her test.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ashcombe Sat 10-Jun-23 07:00:00

Good morning from a damp Whiddon Down following a shower overnight.

A rather interesting sunset here last night.

It’s a good thing we’ve returned here so soon after our last visit as we were greeted by the sound of the TV playing to itself! Neither of us can understand how this happened as we rarely watch it, not least because it’s not working properly! Having been running for four days, it was rather hot!

Good luck with everything this week, Mick. I agree with Taichinan’s interpretation of the preparation necessary for your surgery.

A rather interesting sunset here last night.

Happy weekend to all, whatever you’re doing! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Good morning from a balmy Cornwall. The rain we were promised went elsewhere, disappointing. I'm at my daughter-in-law's this afternoon, with a roast there later. My 40-something sons and their friends are trekking and camping on Dartmoor over the weekend. I've slept out under the stars there and miss it.

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 10-Jun-23 06:12:48

Good morning Mick and all from a sunny Cyprus.
I’m still waking at 5.30 which is 3.30 UK time even though I’m trying to adjust to the 2 hour time difference. I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it just before we leave. Pool man woke me up this morning though so maybe I would have slept in until a later time?
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those with worries and stress.

Taichinan Sat 10-Jun-23 06:07:13

Good morning Mick. I've been awak since 2.45 - the price I pay for having a granddaughter who has just passed her driving test! I woke after two hours' sleep with all sorts of worries. She's the fourth of five grandchildren to drive, so why am I being so silly!
Anyway, Mick - that sounds pretty straightforward to me: you eat normally today up until midnight, and then it's liquids only on Sunday. But if you're not clear, phone the hospital and get them to clarify for you. Good luck, and I'm sure all will go well.
The Angus coast is still grey would you believe, in spite of the BBC weather app showing wall-to-wall sunshine from sunrise! I'm quite happy not to have the heat you are all forecast down south, that would be too much for me, but just a wee glimpse of blue sky and the sun would be gratefully received!
Nothing to report from here except the New Driver is dragging bringing her boyfriend to meet me tomorrow. It's a 160 mile round trip, so I guess no sleep for me tonight either!
Have a good day everyone x

RosesandLilac Sat 10-Jun-23 06:06:27

Good morning, it’s cloudy here in south Gloucestershire but quite muggy.
Yesterday I cleaned out the utility room (sounds posh but it’s tiny and the way through from the front to the back of the house), it gets used as a dumping ground by DH 😡
I also cleared the ironing and sorted out a cupboard so quite happy 😃
Today I will walk the dog early (I’ve been awake since 4!) then probably try to finish the sock I’ve unpicked at least four times. I don’t know why I’m finding it so difficult!
Have a lovely weekend everyone 🌹

loopyloo Sat 10-Jun-23 05:57:57

Good morning Mick! Should think that means a liquid diet until midnight but others will advise you , I'm sure.
Have a good weekend and all the best for Monday.

grandMattie Sat 10-Jun-23 05:57:40

Good morning from a bright Bristol.
Things sound a bit muddled food-wise, Mick. Hope you manage to sort it out.
I had a quiet day yesterday, did some laundry and waited for the chiropodist recommended to me by our oldest inmate - 99 next month. Still driving I’m told!
Some of the ladies who introduced themselves on my first day were sunning themselves. So I joined them for a chinwag.
After lunch, I made my first test batch of cakes in this house using my new oven. Very trepidatious, but they turned out ok.
I took a couple to my upstairs neighbour and am taking the rest to the regular church coffee morning today. This is in anticipation of providing cakes for an event next Saturday at church.)
I need to do a biggish shop before that as I seem to have run out of a lot of stuff. Thank goodness for the trolley DD and family gave me for my birthday - the local supermarket is about a mile away, 20+ minutes on foot.
I hope all the poorlies improve and everyone enjoys the sunshine ☀️. Carpe diem 🦩🦩❤️🦩🦩🦩

Good Morning Everyone,
Its bright and sun is up over brackley this morning.
Yesterday, I had a call from the Hospital as to Monday which again will mean a ear;y start for me wish an admission time of 7 .
Unsure as to Sunday food wise , strictly a liquid diet , but was told I could eat up to midnight the day before , still unsure? as to what I will do .
Seems to me as though they have no set down pre op day before surgery food intake procedure .
Any way have stopped taking aspirin type related medication.
Take Care,
Mick
