An amazing story of survival. 4 siblings aged 13, 9, 4 and 1 were in the plane with their mother and 2 pilots who sadly died in the crash. The children wandered deeper into the jungle and survived eating fruit. The rescue teams never gave up hope of finding them.

I’ll ask for my post to be deleted. It truly is miraculous.

Amazing story, apparently they were from an indigenous group and survived due to their knowledge of what they could and could not eat. Very sad their mother died though.

Sorry tickingbird we must have been typing at the same time! It’s an amazing story of survival. Those poor little children. It’s unimaginable what they’ve been through during this time.

Wonderful news. What amazing children, especially the 13 year old who I imagine took most responsibility. Their grandparents must be so relieved to know they're safe now.

Such a heart=warming tale of miraculous survival against the odds. So very sad that their Mother and both pilots died in the crash. Also, so fortunate that these children were from one of the indigenous tribes, and hence had knowledge of what the jungle had to offer. I imagine that Hollywood will be salivating at the thought of a film. Hope that those children get some appropriate protection from the media, and are left to recover in peace.

Its amazing when I heard about the story a couple of weeks ago,
it said the children kept running away from the those that were searching for them.

According to updates the children are expected to remain in hospital for 2-3 weeks. Their grandmother said the 13 year old was used to looking after the younger ones while their mother went to work and it came naturally to her to take charge. They survived on flour they found in the plane and jungle fruits. A recording of the grandmother’s voice was broadcast from the rescue helicopters urging the children to remain in the one place rather than moving through the rainforest.

Wonderful story and all credit to their rescuers who did not give up the search.

Top marks to the 13 yr old caring for the rest of the children, in developing countries older children do care for younger siblings quite routinely. Often because the mother has to work to provide food for the family, there usually is no social security and if you don’t earn money or grow your own food the family doesn’t eat.

Wonderful news. Thank goodness no one gave up on those children, so well done rescue team, they must have been so joyful when they found them. The children had each other for company, so thankfully supported each other. Just hope there are family to look after them and keep together.

Grandparents, of course!

What wonderful news of the four children rescued in the jungle. What gift could the world send them to say thank you for lifting our hearts? Makes knighthoods and damehoods seem even more irrelevant.
