Good morning from Bristol. The sky is clear, the sun is out. I just hope that today isn’t too sticky. That sort of day really doesn’t suit me.
I hope Mick got on well and is doing ok; that Marydoll is feeling better and pain is “less worse”; that olddudders had a safe journey back to France; and that everyone I have missed is better in themselves, if nothing else.
I did some housework first thing; vacuuming, rearranging dust, spot cleaning the carpet…
I went to get my glasses straightened again, but the girl who served me didn’t really know what she was doing, and also seemed rather too laidback and casual…. She was very, very slow.
On a whim, I asked my two AC if they were free for lunch. They were, DD was between two meetings. We met at St. Nicholas market where there is a little street dedicated to food. The Moroccan food was delicious.
In the afternoon, I set about fixing Philip’s cardboard moose head. I’m not sure how it started, but I used to buy the most tasteless but not rude souvenir for him, when on holiday. Thus moose head was from Canada. He loved it and had it at the top of his stairwell. It was a bit floppy and needed surgery. Some fabric, some brown paper, et voila!
Today, I’ve got to do some shopping. DS has invited himself for the night, so need to get things to spoil him.
I also have a meeting for a church clothes swap, sorting donations, etc. DS is coming with me for some muscle power.
This has turned into one of Maydoll’s novellas…

I had an enlarged parathyroid gland removed after discovering excessive calcium levels.
Hyperparathyroidism used to be known as Bones, stones and groans due to the symptoms.
My levels subsided after the surgery.
Do any of those symptoms match Ash?

Blossoming Tue 13-Jun-23 10:30:54

Ash I had.2 adenomas removed from my parathyroid glands due to high blood calcium. There is a history of osteoporosis in my family but I have escaped it. I was seeing an endocrinologist at the time for an underactive thyroid, now successfully medicated. He noticed the high calcium in my blood results, ordered scans and referred me for surgery. The surgery is quick, often not even an overnight stay. I stayed in overnight as I had my surgery late in the day.

I’m so sorry you’re feeling unwell Marydoll, would an air conditioner or a dehumidifier help?

I hope your DH isn’t a back seat driver Brook or you may have to count to 50!

Good morning all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Spent most of yesterday in the garden with a real page turner. I will be sorry when it ends, even though it’s over 800 pages long. I’m annoyed with myself as I made a new shopping and to do list from a messy list I couldn’t read any longer and it has completely disappeared. Even St.Anthony has let me down…

Washing out and a warble as singing at the music club this afternoon.
Hope all has gone smoothly for Mick and thoughts to all with worries.

Good morning all from sunny Lancashire. Still no rain here, though nearby places had lots!

I had the best sleep I’ve had in ages last night, despite the heat. I was up bright and early and have done my chores before it gets hot again. Now enjoying morning coffee with MrB before venturing out for a walk before lunch.

Best wishes to Mick for a speedy recovery.

Safe journey to any travellers and healing thoughts to any poorlies.

Have a good day all 🌻🌻🌻

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Wyllow3 Tue 13-Jun-23 10:06:51

Morning from a sunny but still fresh S Yorks due to the very heavy rainstorm at around 6pm last night. Garden looks spiffing and a blackbird not too hot to sing for me.

have a good swim Greyduster hope its OK hip wise, I have to wait till the lump removal on my arm is healed and feel most frustrated, as its good for backs.

Hoping Mick has got through well and will be back opening up soon.

Lovely long chat with sis last night and today have a counselling Zoom. sis lives high on Exmoor and says temperatures are less, just right at 21/22 degrees

Best for poorlies especially if it stops you enjoying the sun, and enjoy outings and family.

Good morning from another bright West York's hope all poorlies are feeling a bit brighter .Like most a poor night due to heat .shopping this morning before it gets too hot.

Good morning from Durham. Another fine, sunny day forecast - could do with a splash of rain overnight. Frazzled and annoyed that my house alarm went off at 3.30! I think a spider must’ve crawled over the sensor, but then the dawn chorus kicked in and I only just dropped off at 6am.
Coffee with a friend first, then I’m collecting laundry from DD2, to help out before they head to Majorca on Sunday. She’s full of cold again, so I’ll pick up an assortment of stuff from Boots on the way.
No further forward with the Bank issue, I’ll try another, quieter branch - it’s not urgent.
Good to hear Marydoll is a bit brighter. Hope Mick is recovering and thinking of Urms and himself too.
Best wishes to all. X

EkwaNimitee Tue 13-Jun-23 09:02:43

Good morning everyone from hot sunny Carlisle. And good morning and best wishes to you, Mick if you are reading. I hope you are recovering well and soon home.

I am back from a family reunion in Surrey, including DS2 and wife over from Australia. A good time was had by all!
There was a lot of pootling around the beautiful leafy lanes of Surrey and Kent including a visit to Hever Castle which I have wanted to visit for some time.
Today there is some sorting out to do and some laundry, not to mention a lot of watering of plants. Thankfully, they have survived my brief absence. I've also got some necessary admin which will involve picking up the phone and kicking metaphorical ass!

My best wishes to all the poorly to whom this weather is probably a trial.

Good morning grandmattie and all. Thank you for opening, and you're sounding much happier and more settled. How lovely to have lunch with your children 'on spec'. A lovely treat. The moose head is lovely - and a special memory. I remember my late friend getting something similar for her DD - her's was a stag's head.
I'm not envying you the excessive heat, humidity and rainless thunder storms down south. The other day I was 'wearing the wrong clothes' and became too hot. The trouble is that I have no idea I am overheating (I don't sweat these days) until I'm feeling about to pass out. Silly isn't it!
Today should be a tai chi day but I'm still nursing a twisted knee. Luckily I have someone else to take the classes, but I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!
Sorry I missed your birthday yesterday Liberty but glad you had a good day. Belated greetings.
Thoughts are with Mick and wishing him a speedy recovery after yesterday's op. And of course always with Urms and her DH.
And of course I can't forget the little ballerina looking for 'extinction' 💞
Have a great day everyone - and keep cool x

Grammaretto Tue 13-Jun-23 08:36:56

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's heating up fast.
Shorts and sandals!

Thanks for opening up gMattie.
I love the moose!

I hope Mick has had successful surgery and will be back soon.

I have a haircut later on otherwise not much apart from housework and gardening..

I'm hosting a garden tea party on Saturday for all the volunteers who work at the community store. I'm sure it will be fine and everyone will help but, but ...

Wishing everyone some happiness today

Marydoll Tue 13-Jun-23 08:35:28

Gwen, that's great news about your BIL!

I love Prestwick and the shops! An enjoyable stroll along the flat prom and an ice cream and I am a happy lady!
I hope you are not planning on going on the beach. Last week it was covered in huge jellyfish. shock

GrannySomerset Tue 13-Jun-23 08:24:05

A very unrestful night’s sleep means facing the day feeling distinctly jaded so it’s as well I haven’t a huge amount to do - bed changing and the supermarket the major treats in store.

Sorry Marydoll is suffering so and hope Mick is on the mend. Shall be glad when the heat and humidity dissipate; I would never have survived jungle living.

ginny Tue 13-Jun-23 08:23:34

Good morning from N. Bucks where it is blue skies and sunshine.
We had a few rumbles of thunder yesterday and about 10 minutes of heavy rain.
We have smallest DGS this morning , so fun in the garden. This afternoon DH and I both have eye tests . I know my eyesight has changed and dread being told I need to wear glasses all the time. I hate wearing them now just for close work and reading.

Thoughts with those who are poorly in any way. Hope Mick is doing well.
Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Susan56 Tue 13-Jun-23 08:23:06

Jax I just read in soop’s kitchen about your A and E visit and diagnosis.Hope you manage to see your GP and things are resolved soon🤞🏻💐

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 13-Jun-23 08:22:07

Good. Morning all from sunny Harrogate. Hope you are now on the mend Mick. Love the Moose GrandMattie. Good to hear your DH got to France safely Ashcombe.
Sorry the heat is having a bad effect on you Marydoll. Next week the weather will probably be rotten when we are in Prestwick! DBIL is up and about, the liver reversal has worked. Today is promising to be busy with an art workshop in the morning, going to feed Dds budgies this afternoon, the meetin other. DDs puppy this afternoon also. Hope to get some shopping at some point!
Have the best day possible folks

BlueSapphire Tue 13-Jun-23 07:57:13

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny 🌞Northampton, 16° at the moment and set to reach 26° this afternoon.. Yesterday the promised heavy rain did not arrive, although it went very dark and windy, and rumbles of thunder could be heard. We might have had a teaspoonful of rain.

Had a terrible morning and early afternoon yesterday with the hay fever; sore eyes and sore and runny nose and feeling tired. I was hardly outside at all, just picked up and brought home from yoga. Spent the afternoon indoors and continued with my new book, and eventually felt better. Not sure whether to try our health walk this afternoon, but there is a pharmacy in the vicinity, so shall go up early and try to get some of the tablets that Marydoll recommended.

Washing is in the machine after changing the bed yesterday. Must hoover round downstairs to get rid of cat fur, then take it upstairs ready to do that tomorrow.

Hope all went well yesterday for Mick.

Wishing all a good day.

Oopsadaisy1 Tue 13-Jun-23 07:54:13

Good morning all from another sunny day in Cyprus, we’ve had a bit of a cool breeze for the last couple of days which has been lovely, keeps the temp down.
Our broken key was removed from the lock yesterday, 4 different ladies turned up with their spare keys ‘ to replace our lost key’ but eventually a chap turned up with yet another key, but he had a tool kit with him, managed to poke out the lost bit and voila, he left his spare key and we are sorted. An email from the Villa hire company arrived last night to say that a locksmith will be around today to change the lock and it will be £50 please. Sigh…… I don’t think so. If an 8 yr old key snaps off inside the lock on our 3rd day I think it’s the keys fault and not mine.
Anyway, let’s hope the saga is over.
Have a good day everyone, thoughts are with Mick, MD and The Urms today and for anyone else who is ill or stressed.

luluaugust Tue 13-Jun-23 07:52:28

Good morning from a 23 degrees W Kent. Bed change this morning and another AGM this afternoon. Hope all has gone well for Mick.
Ash I am always interested in anything to do with osteoporosis as I have always thought mine was just hereditary.
All the best

Liberty Tue 13-Jun-23 07:49:17

Good morning from another gloriously sunny Suffolk with what looks like a gentle breeze.

Thank you for your birthday wishes yesterday. I had a lovely day and rather than lunch we went out for dinner rather than lunch as I had various messages saying to await deliveries of what turned out to be flowers, chocolates and a treat box.

My biggest smile was when talking to youngest GC who is 6. She was telling me about extra ballet lessons she is having in preparation for her first ballet exam. She said she was hoping to get ‘an extinction’. I hadn’t the heart to say I wondered if she meant a distinction!

Hoping all is well with Mick post op and also with those with health worries.

harrigran Tue 13-Jun-23 07:47:36

Good morning from the NE where it is dry and warm.
Spent the day washing and ironing yesterday, not ideal as it was the hottest day this year so far.
My sister is going to collect some plants from a nursery and drop them off, I am very late doing my patio pots this year.
Hope Mick is being well looked after.
Have a good day.

Allsorts Tue 13-Jun-23 07:42:01

Good morning from Lichfield, what a beautiful day, very muggy though.
Like reading all your daily plans and getting to know you a little.
Today lots of mundane things to sort out, insurance etc. however meeting a group of friends for a stroll and coffee and cakes, I did try to give them up completely, (the cakes)now just twice a week instead of daily. Still don’t seem to have shed a pound, think I have just stuck at this weight regardless😁

aggie Tue 13-Jun-23 07:40:22

Good Morning from a warm Co Armagh,
Yesterday we went to see Dairmuid Gavins Coronation garden at Whiteabbey, I loved the planting , I’m not su sure about the music and revolving trees . I remember him having the same trees at The Chelsea Flower show
The rest of the park is lovely , such a great facility , except that the cafe wasn’t open !
A quieter day today
I hope Mick is recovering well

Marydoll Tue 13-Jun-23 07:39:26

Good morning all, from my humid bedroom, its unbearable!

Thank you so much for starting the day, GM, you sound much more like your old self. Love the moose!
I hope all went well for Mick and he is following doctor's orders.

Ash you have piqued my interest about the lack of calcium. I am awaiting my annual letter after my Dexa scan and bloods, , advising me my body isn't absorbing calcium and Vit D
and I need some intervention. I just assumed nothing could be done and somehow it was my own fault, according to the specialist osteoporosis nurse. 😔

The good wishes are much appreciated. The heat is badly affecting my heart and respiratory system. I have never been as badly affected as this. Heart sprays and inhalers were having little effect and I thought I was heading for A&E at one point yesterday, feeling as if I was suffocating. It was really scary. Poor DH was seriously fretting.
Yesterday was spent lying down and getting into trouble on GN 🤭.
Then later in the evening, I suddenly felt an improvement, as the temperature dropped, i went outside, wandered around the garden in my pyjamas and transplanted some lettuce!

Today will be much of the same, doing very little, apart from changing the bed. It will be salad for dinner, since I can't be bothered either eating or cooking.

Hoping that those on holiday are having a good time.
I wish you all the best of days, especially the poorlies.

cornergran Tue 13-Jun-23 07:32:53

Morning grandmattie, morning All. A clear blue sky over our corner of Somerset. Just a few spots of very dusty rain yesterday.

Four kindly folk at Apple spent no less than three hours between them sorting a glitch on the big computer yesterday. Apparently they like a challenge. Oh good! I went to Ireland, America twice (really struggled with the drawl the second time) and then finally a very cheerful woman in France fixed the issue. My head ached but it was worth it.

Today will be much less headache making. Dust to move around before it gets too warm, a ‘technical expert’ calling this afternoon to speak severely to our sulking smart meter. I have no thought it will make a difference. Otherwise some gentle faffing and sitting in the shade.

A swim sounds good greyd. Hope mick is comfortable this morning and maryd in less pain. Thoughts are with all finding life tough. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.
