Good morning from Bristol. The sky is clear, the sun is out. I just hope that today isn’t too sticky. That sort of day really doesn’t suit me.
I hope Mick got on well and is doing ok; that Marydoll is feeling better and pain is “less worse”; that olddudders had a safe journey back to France; and that everyone I have missed is better in themselves, if nothing else.
I did some housework first thing; vacuuming, rearranging dust, spot cleaning the carpet…
I went to get my glasses straightened again, but the girl who served me didn’t really know what she was doing, and also seemed rather too laidback and casual…. She was very, very slow.
On a whim, I asked my two AC if they were free for lunch. They were, DD was between two meetings. We met at St. Nicholas market where there is a little street dedicated to food. The Moroccan food was delicious.
In the afternoon, I set about fixing Philip’s cardboard moose head. I’m not sure how it started, but I used to buy the most tasteless but not rude souvenir for him, when on holiday. Thus moose head was from Canada. He loved it and had it at the top of his stairwell. It was a bit floppy and needed surgery. Some fabric, some brown paper, et voila!
Today, I’ve got to do some shopping. DS has invited himself for the night, so need to get things to spoil him.
I also have a meeting for a church clothes swap, sorting donations, etc. DS is coming with me for some muscle power.
This has turned into one of Maydoll’s novellas…

Good morning Tuesday, 13th June.
(44 Posts)Good morning, GM and Michael in absentia. Hope all went well for him yesterday. We had thunder yesterday evening and about a teacup full of rain but if nothing else it freshened things up. Today it’s going to be hot again. I might go for a gentle swim at the local pool this morning. I haven’t been swimming since I had my hip replaced so it’ll be interesting!
Whatever you are doing, have a good day, folks.
Good morning from an already warm Torbay with the temperature hardly dropping overnight.
Yes, thanks, grandMatttie (thanks for opening up), , olddudders had a good journey home. He hopes to be back next month, depending on medical appointments. A minor operation on one of his parathyroid glands has been suggested if that’s the cause of calcium not being absorbed, causing the osteoporosis. A special X-ray involving the injection of dye will determine if it’s necessary. Thanks for the good wishes for his journey from several contributors.
It’s good to hear of you being busy, grandMattie, as you become involved in local life in Bristol. Perhaps a change of optician would improve matters. When I moved from Staffs., my optician there recommended choosing a family business rather than one of the chains for my rather particular sight issues. Both DH and I have been happy with the service from the one I chose. I was intrigued by the moose head: a photo would be welcome!
Thoughts are with Mick and any others undergoing medical procedures or with concerns of any kind. Keep cool! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩
Morning all from what is already a muggy West Oxfordshire. Best wishes to Mick. I have to pop into the bank in Oxford today to sort out some WI stuff. Apparently my signature had changed! After lunch OH and I will buy an acer and one or two other things for the garden. We should have done so on Sunday but went to an Art Festival instead. Yesterday was Ripley the cat’s dental extravaganza at the Vet. OH is out this evening so I will relax in the cool. Have a good day. Thinking of the Urms.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and misty. It'll burn off, I'm sure. Grandmattie you had a lovely, busy day yesterday! Grey duster enjoy your swim.
Yesterday was quietly busy. Lots of playing. I found a toy which is basically a bit of thick material with zips, fasteners etc on it. Dgs2 is obsessed with fastening his car seat and buggy so thought he would like it and yes, he does. We walked to Aldi and then the swings in the morning. The afternoon was too hot outside so both boys played in my house. Or wrecked it more like! 😂 Later I visited mum who has been moved out of a single room into a four bed ward. A sign of her growing strength. She is not impressed but I could see her more able to move unaided. A friend, whose mum is in the next room, called in to see her which was very kind of her.
Today will be a rerun of yesterday I think. Swings in the morning and maybe playing in the garden. Have a good day all.
The hunting trophy with repairs… 🤣
Good morning from Norfolk where we arrived yesterday after another long day travelling.Thankfully not as hot here as there is a gentle breeze.
I’m not sure what we will do today but we don’t plan on driving
very far.
I hope all went well for Mick yesterday and that Marydoll is feeling better.Thoughts with all others unwell and with worries about family members.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩🌺
Good Morning grandMattie and everyone from a glorious Hull morning.
Hoping Mick is doing well after his operation.
This morning we need to take my car over the Humber Bridge to Grimsby to get my car serviced. DH is following in his so we will then have a drive to Skegness for the day. We haven’t been since the DC were little and I do love a seaside resort.
Grandmabatty that toy with the zips is like one I got for DGD she loves anything with fasteners and spends ages playing with it and also jars and bottles with tops and she loves wiping as well. Give her a wet cloth and she’s away.
Have a lovely day wether being out in the glorious sun or a little more sheltered. Thoughts to those struggling with illness and stress 🌻🌞
Good morning from s somerset on what will be a very sunny and very hot day with very low humidity, great for clothes drying, bad for gritty eyes. Humidifier is coming out of my wardrobe
Basic foot care at 8 then off to sainsbury to get some bits as I wont be going anywhere next week due to heavy glastonbury traffic
I deadheaded lots of roses yesterday, 4 large containers in my car for the tip and then dug out three man-grabbing roses with the sharpest thorns ever as seen by scratches and thorn-pricks. Result was a sore hip and sciatica, which I started to work on last night, a good nights sleep fortunately, thanks to paracetamol help. Some various exercises needed today.
That work reminded me very much of my three years when I have moved tons of rocks from my garden. Onward and upward, getting rid of those roses will ensure a much easier, less dangerous.work schedule in the future. To treat myself I have ordered another 5 echinacea, evolution colorific which will arrive here in a month.
Have a lovely day
Good morning from a sunny forecast 26c South Downs.
Beginning to buck up after a better night. Still “gippy” if you know what I mean but definitely settling. I shall simply have to keep to naked salads with very lean meat or fish, muesli with skimmed milk and fruit! I shall be a shadow of my former - so at least it has benefits. 18 week wait I think.
Rest planned today, and then hopefully I shall begin to get back into the fray tomorrow. DH has bought me a new Taylor’s dummy as a surprise so I shall have a look at setting that up I think. (I’m sure I can’t possibly be that size!)
Well mick you are now hopefully on the road to recovery. So gently does it, and you will soon be back into your daily routine.
marydoll I missed you being unwell - so GWS🙂
I have never ever seen so many roses. Everywhere is dripping with colour and the branches bowed down with the weight. I guess it must have been the tremendous rain we had last winter/spring. I’ll take some photos today if I remember.
Have a magnificent day everyone.
Morning from bright sun in S Hants. Thanks for opening gMattie, thoughts are with Mick wishing him well.
We came third in quiz last night, a fun evening.
No real plans today, it’s going to be very warm.
Take care in the heat 🦩
Good morning all from a sunny Black country.
Thanks for opening up grandMattie, and I do hope all went well for Mick.
Today is DS birthday were did those 41yrs go.
No plans will see if DH has any when he wakes.
I hope your feeling a bit better Marydoll, thoughts with the Urms and anybody else feeling under par themselves or family members.
Enjoy your Tuesday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find ☀️.
Good morning Grandmattie and all. Its a sunny day again in Leicester but feels quite fresh at the moment as we had a good downpour yesterday evening.
Grandmattie, I love Philips’s hunting trophy😊
I do hope Mick is getting on OK.
Off to the vet today for the dog’s monthly injection, then to the local bakery to buy special cakes to celebrate my friend’s birthday later today.
Have a good Tuesday everyone.
Thinking of Mick
Hope all went well with Mick yesterday and that Marydoll feels better.
Too warm to cook yesterday so dh and I repaired to a local pub/ restaurant for an early dinner. I’m back there again tonight with a group of friends.
Have a good day one and all.
Just in case you read back through the days Mick, I hope you are OK and it all went smoothly for you yesterday.
Good morning from a sunny Essex by the sea.
Last night's concert by local primary schools was very good. Lots of rousing songs.
Unfortunately one of the twins took a nasty tumble on the way out and banged his head and grazed his knee.
I hope he's OK today.
Some shopping this morning then home to more ironing.
I hope Mick is recovering well.
Have a lovely Tuesday everyone xxx
Good morning all from a sunny North Leicestershire.
We had the most phenomenonal storm yesterday and it is much fresher today.
Out for for tea and cake this morning with a friend who has a big hospital appointment tomorrow.
Sending best wishes to Mick and all who need them.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve got some haar that’s rolled in overnight but hopefully it’ll clear fairly soon
Hoping all is ok with mick and thanks for opening up gMattie - love the moose head!
A quiet morning at home and then we’re doing the school pick up and taking DGD to various after school activities as usual on a Tuesday I’ll be doing the driving though with DH in the passenger seat! I’m really looking forward to seeing DGD at the end of term choir concert later tonight.
Enjoy your day out Shazza , your holiday Susan and everyone else out and about
Hope your DGS is feeling ok today Sar
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Morning grandmattie, morning All. A clear blue sky over our corner of Somerset. Just a few spots of very dusty rain yesterday.
Four kindly folk at Apple spent no less than three hours between them sorting a glitch on the big computer yesterday. Apparently they like a challenge. Oh good! I went to Ireland, America twice (really struggled with the drawl the second time) and then finally a very cheerful woman in France fixed the issue. My head ached but it was worth it.
Today will be much less headache making. Dust to move around before it gets too warm, a ‘technical expert’ calling this afternoon to speak severely to our sulking smart meter. I have no thought it will make a difference. Otherwise some gentle faffing and sitting in the shade.
A swim sounds good greyd. Hope mick is comfortable this morning and maryd in less pain. Thoughts are with all finding life tough. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.
Good morning all, from my humid bedroom, its unbearable!
Thank you so much for starting the day, GM, you sound much more like your old self. Love the moose!
I hope all went well for Mick and he is following doctor's orders.
Ash you have piqued my interest about the lack of calcium. I am awaiting my annual letter after my Dexa scan and bloods, , advising me my body isn't absorbing calcium and Vit D
and I need some intervention. I just assumed nothing could be done and somehow it was my own fault, according to the specialist osteoporosis nurse. 😔
The good wishes are much appreciated. The heat is badly affecting my heart and respiratory system. I have never been as badly affected as this. Heart sprays and inhalers were having little effect and I thought I was heading for A&E at one point yesterday, feeling as if I was suffocating. It was really scary. Poor DH was seriously fretting.
Yesterday was spent lying down and getting into trouble on GN 🤭.
Then later in the evening, I suddenly felt an improvement, as the temperature dropped, i went outside, wandered around the garden in my pyjamas and transplanted some lettuce!
Today will be much of the same, doing very little, apart from changing the bed. It will be salad for dinner, since I can't be bothered either eating or cooking.
Hoping that those on holiday are having a good time.
I wish you all the best of days, especially the poorlies.
Good Morning from a warm Co Armagh,
Yesterday we went to see Dairmuid Gavins Coronation garden at Whiteabbey, I loved the planting , I’m not su sure about the music and revolving trees . I remember him having the same trees at The Chelsea Flower show
The rest of the park is lovely , such a great facility , except that the cafe wasn’t open !
A quieter day today
I hope Mick is recovering well
Good morning from Lichfield, what a beautiful day, very muggy though.
Like reading all your daily plans and getting to know you a little.
Today lots of mundane things to sort out, insurance etc. however meeting a group of friends for a stroll and coffee and cakes, I did try to give them up completely, (the cakes)now just twice a week instead of daily. Still don’t seem to have shed a pound, think I have just stuck at this weight regardless😁
Good morning from the NE where it is dry and warm.
Spent the day washing and ironing yesterday, not ideal as it was the hottest day this year so far.
My sister is going to collect some plants from a nursery and drop them off, I am very late doing my patio pots this year.
Hope Mick is being well looked after.
Have a good day.
Good morning from another gloriously sunny Suffolk with what looks like a gentle breeze.
Thank you for your birthday wishes yesterday. I had a lovely day and rather than lunch we went out for dinner rather than lunch as I had various messages saying to await deliveries of what turned out to be flowers, chocolates and a treat box.
My biggest smile was when talking to youngest GC who is 6. She was telling me about extra ballet lessons she is having in preparation for her first ballet exam. She said she was hoping to get ‘an extinction’. I hadn’t the heart to say I wondered if she meant a distinction!
Hoping all is well with Mick post op and also with those with health worries.
