I was one of those kids with enormous freedom and although sounds fabulous it was not best parenting

I felt the same nonna6 about total freedom. If I'd have been less sensitive as a child I would have embraced it but not so.

Riverwalk

At first glance I thought the toddler on the demolition site was in a war zone, but it was Manchester 1968!

Riverwalk I can remember there still being bomb sites in Portsmouth when I was going to school in 1969, especially in the dockyard area.

I had a knitted one when I was about 7. Good job I was too young to get embarrassed when it got wet and "drooped"!

the first grumpy one made me smile.

My Dad had a streak of fun, as I have a few where he takes pix of Mum trying to coax us into smiling for the camera when we definitely weren't! then the flow up pic where we were suitably smiling clutching younger sibs, wriggly babies.

My own childhood.

The third one is a picture of the tenement, I was brought up in, similar to the Gorbal's ones.
Gas lighting in the close, outside toilet and the lady downstairs still cooked on a coal fired, black range.

I think the boy on the bike in Provence with a baguette equates to the image of the boy with loaves pushing the bike up Strawberry Hill in Shaftesbury. Both iconic.

That lovely image of the cheeky Gorbals boys! Not seen that one for years.
