Hailstones bigger than marbles here last Monday. Damaged conservatory roofs. Flooding. Cooled the air down though.
I do remember that it snowed on 1 June one year.
I don’t like heat, but sunshine and a breeze are always pleasant.

I remember that too, it was my sisters birthday and she was tickled pink. Must be at least fifty years ago.

Noooooo! We have had them for the past 30 years.
Well we have in some parts of the country.

Nooooo I love the hot summers they do not last long enough.

As a child In the 1920s and 1930s spent six weeks each summer at Brighton. Remember playing on the beach every day and getting sunburnt.

I too remember the year it snowed on the fifth of June. It was my sisters birthday and Derby Day.

My friend and I used to look out for the small pools of melted tar in the gutter on the long dawdle home from primary school. We’d find small sticks and play with the lovely stuff! How easily pleased were we! I can smell that lovely smell now.

We used to do that Fanny D as well. Some daft people wrote their names on the kerbstones and got a smack from their Mum when she read it.
We also had a boy with the nickname Worm don't ask me why. He was a poor speller and our village bus shelters etc. were daubed with "Wurum wus here ", written in tar. The lovely smell of tar on a hot day and the steam rollers.

Ah yes, melted tar on your white ankle socks. Much scrubbing by mother to get them clean.
Day trips to the seaside. Sitting on the coach watching the lightning flashing over the sea, and a quick dash for ice cream between the downpours. The pack-a-mack always handy in your mother's bag.

We don’t get enough sun in this country and when we do, people moan and complain.

It never lasts for very long, so enjoy while you can.

Proper summers as we once knew them are getting evermore rare as we face the challenges of climate change.

Complaining about the weather is a great British tradition Greciangirl otherwise what would we talk about.

Me & mr eilash recently started river swimming in the Ivel (chalk fed) , Bedfordshire. The temperature of the beautiful clear water is now 20 degrees centigrade ! I love the sun and the water. This year will go down as one of the best for us! ( obviously apart from the global warming) It’s marvelous for the old OA too! Highly recommend it if you have access 🥰

Yes please, this weather is the stuff of nightmares. Hate it.

It used to get on your new Clark's sandals!
Dad had to get it off with some turps or something similar.

It snowed in the beginning of June in 1976....then we had the heatwave which went on and on and on. We went for a holiday to Woolacombe, the sand was too hot to walk on barefoot and the sea was black all around the bay with millions upon millions of dead ladybirds it was horrible. We left my Mum sitting on a camp chair while walked down to the sea edge, to see what the blackness was, when we returned she was covered in ladybirds.

We played with the melted tar too.
4d spent in the shop buying what we called “a creamy lolly” - my favourite was the banana flavour - then we used the sticks to write our names in the tar on the kerb edge. 🙂
