For DM and Boris haters he is going to be writing a weekly column in the DM!

Shouldn’t that say “For Boris Lovers”? People who hate Johnson are hardly likely to want to read his wittering. I hear he’s talking to GB News as well.

Oh contraire!

This is the first I’ve heard of this, and I’m delighted.
As the Only Reader of The Daily Mail on Gransnet (TM) and one of the most fervent Boris haters, I’m actually really looking forward to seeing what utter nonsense he’ll be coming out with.

I won’t be going so far as watching GBeebies though, I’m not a monster

I think the extreme ‘Left’ are just as scary and unpleasant as the extreme ‘right’. The clue is in the word, ‘extreme’. I don’t read the Daily Mail, never have but I would defend those who do, it is their prerogative last time I looked. Others making disparaging comments about their choice and feeling superior is probably one of the things that pushes them over to that side of politics, feeding their stance.

I think Private Eye should run Mrs Johnson's Diary. Mrs Wilson's Diary was a great success. It could kick off with 'I'm very worried about Dylwin....'

Bojo's article popped up on line today. It was amusing enough, although a bit below his "King of the World" ambitions. He's certainly better at a bit of light entertainment than he is at politics, but most of us knew that already.

Perhaps it would have been better to have given Dilyn a column?

Only if Larry the Cat gets one in the Guardian.

Just for balance

What about the mice - do they get a column?

They probably have to resort to YouTube podcasts .

So I've not read this whole thread, but find it interesting that Johnson's notebooks have been seized by the government.
Why?
What have they got to hide?

Fascist is far right Kandinsky.

Left wing fascism s very real. Look it up.

Probably only in the minds of the far right. I imagine you could make an argument for it, but fascism has always been seen as "of the right". The extreme left seems to have other problems.

DaisyAnneReturns Fri 16-Jun-23 22:12:53

So the countries great divider is to join the most schismatic paper read here. Just when there is a tentative rumbling of Parliamentary democracy fighting back.

Sadly I'm sure it will be them and us on steroids. Only those who agree with the Daily Mail and Boris will be true Britains. Anyone who can be deemed as in some way not properly British will now be seen as the enemy of this cabal.

If you have a god, I suggest you speak to them and pray that those who ferment this sort of a dissent, lose their power to disrupt and destroy as soon as possible.

There are some on here who think they know everything.

I can throw out some stereotypical views of Guardian readers if it helps.
My prediction is when another Johnson comes along, or perhaps even Johnson himself, they will all look at each other mistified and say but why do all these people who we treat with utter contempt keep voting for people we don't like. It's a mystery.

How would you describe someone who might read The Daily Mail, the Guardian, the Independent, The Mirror online?

Confused? Or well-balanced?

From Yes Prime Minister:

(Jim Hacker explains who reads the newspapers)

Hacker: Don't tell me about the press. I know exactly who reads the papers. The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country; The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country; The Times is read by the people who actually do run the country; the Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country; the Financial Times is read by people who own the country; the Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country, and the Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is.
Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun?
Bernard: Sun readers don't care who runs the country, as long as she's got big tits.

Iam64 Fri 16-Jun-23 21:32:47

Callistemon, I’d describe them as trying to be well informed

Boris did not get a first class degree by the way, he got a 2:1.

Okay! Not what I’ve heard but I defer to you. Nonetheless any degree from Oxford is worth a Masters. I know this because my son did get a First Class degree from Oxford (not Classics though, Jurisprudence ) and he told me. It’s hard to get into Oxford and hard work once there. It isn’t for the faint hearted. You can call BJ whatever you like and I won’t argue, but lacking in intelligence he is not! And I have seen posters make that claim in the past. They’re just wrong.

Oxford, Cambridge and Dublin MA degrees are not equivalent to a masters from elsewhere. They are a historic title to mark seniority and not a further qualification. My partner has an automatic MA and earned MSc from Oxford.

You can do a taught Masters equivalent at Oxford, Keir Starmer did, for example, having graduated with a first at Leeds University.

Which SM was that FP? Was it Twitter by any chance.

Callistemon21 Fri 16-Jun-23 20:31:09

Oh heck!

I said first degree, not a first.
It was a reference to Grantanow's opinion of people who may just read the Daily Mail.

He'll probably have to limit his vocabulary for DM readers, no Latin tags

So an assumption that DM readers are thickos who cannot possibly have a first degree, ie a BA in Classics, ie let alone higher degrees in other subjects.

Just to clarify.

It was certainly more interesting than the constant pusillanimity spouted about him on GN.

OK, own up! Who’s been googling. 😂😂

Pardon? ¿?¿?

Please explain.

Dastardly!

I think that suits him.
