Good morning All from a cloudy and much cooler corner of Somerset.
Hope mick is resting comfortably at home. The clothes exchange sounds such a good idea grandmattie. You deserve a rest today.
No overnight rain, perhaps some will come today. Did little yesterday other than enjoy a very good lunch and send some emails. Mr C is still sleeping, once he wakes there are gifts for him from the family. Not sure what we’ll do today, perhaps another quiet one.
Thoughts as always with those finding life hard. My thanks to urms and kalu for their posts. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny this morning though we had a shower last night.
The garden party went well. It kept dry but wasn't too hot.
I slept badly again so am good for nothing today. My df texted in the night to say her beloved whippet is to be PTS this morning. So sad for her.
Sorry about your toothache Exdancer
Glad your clothing exchange went well gMattie Thanks for standing in for Mick how is he?
Get well wishes for the poorly ones and strength to all those suffering.
Enjoy the day
Good morning all from a dampish North Leicestershire. We have just had a short rain shower.
Thank you to urms and Kalu for posting. I think about them both very often.
I forgot to post yesterday as it was a bit full on with Bertie, Persie and Wolfie. Love them to pieces but they are a bit full on. We also had the AA call to collect dh's car which has a broken clutch (it has only done 15,000 miles) and DS2 popped by with a present for Father's Day.
After all that, a quiet day for us today. Special Nigel Slater pork chop for dh to thank him for being a great dad to our 5 children and a super Pa to 9 grandchildren.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all from a sunny Black country, we had a little rain yesterday which made it less muggy.
No plans today, roast pork for dinner.
ExDancer hope you find some relief for your toothache.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️
Good morning From sunny Dumfries. I’m sorry we haven’t heard from Mick. Thanks for opening GrandMattie
Yesterday had a good journey here stopping at MainGill Farm for coffee, it used to be a small affair with Llamas, it’s nowa huge business with Camels and lots to keep children amused. It’s on the A66 travelling towards Barnard Castle where we stopped for lunch at Penny’s in the middle of the town then onward to Gretnagateway. It’s all changed, the only decent shops were Pavers and Skechers. It seems to be having a makeover and my two favourite shops were missing ( Klass and Roman). It was then onward to check in to the Premier Inn and finally at my sisters for tea! Brother in law looking well considering the trauma he’s been through.
I, too shall have to find time to read the posts by Urms andKalu
Have the best day possible folks
Good morning all from a partly sunny Glasgow, where its 15° and was RAINING overnight.
Thank you to GM for opening up.
I was glad to see Kalu posting, she is in the same situation as Urms and is often in my thoughts. I know she reads, but doesn't feel up to posting, as do a number of our friends on the GM thread.
We had a lovely family meal last, but I don't feel too well today, so shall wish you all the best of days and leave it at that.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud but no rain forecast until tomorrow
Hoping mick is doing ok and back with us soon
Lovely to hear from Urms and Kalu yesterday, sending much support and ❤️
Good to have those precious family memories to look back on ginny I love the idea of a box to open when things are not so good!
Nothing much planned for today, just general tidying up and housework but mostly I’ll be in the garden. DH is doing well and his walking getting a little bit better every day. All the relaxing in the garden with waitress service is definitely working wonders for him - not sure about me though!
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Morning from S Hants where I’d hoped for rain, no, sun again, it’s forecast later, we’ll see.
My daughter is calling in with a gift for MrJ and collecting a large rucksack we picked up for nothing, granddaughter is off on Duke of Ed next weekend.
I need to repot a small bay tree and water the greenhouse.
Urms and Kalu are in my thoughts.
I hope to see Mick back soon.
🦩🦩
Good morning from Colchester where we've had overnight rain.
No plans today except a roast pork dinner. DS will be returning to work after a week at home. It's lovely to see him but I'm looking forward to using his bed tonight. DH has a cold and is snoring for England.
Love to all 🦩 x
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I had a lovely day yesterday with daughter plus elder son and his family. Daughter is still here but the rest drove back to London. Son needs to prepare for his new job starting on Monday. He has given up being a civil servant to joining the private sector. Other son started his new job last week - still a civil servant. I am making roast chicken and all the trimmings for lunch. It is our daughter’s favourite. Thoughts for Mick and Urms.
Good morning and we had real downpours during the night. Loud thunder too.
Our charity afternoon tea was lovely (pianist great but a little too loud) . Met up with old friends who I haven’t seen in a while. They made £1,400 for Cancer Research. I brought home a cake and a sandwich for Dh. I saw one of my friends take home 4 small brown carrier bags full of leftovers.😳. She always likes a ‘freebie’. 🫣.
I’m hoping Dd and little gd will come for lunch today , after little ones swimming lesson. I haven’t heard yet.
Lovely to hear from Urms but sorry to hear Life is a struggle for you at the moment.🙏.
kalu too. 🙏.
Looks like we might have more rain today, but that’s ok.
Enjoy the day if you can 🌸
I have had to go back to yesterday's thread to find the news from Urms and Kalu. How lovely to find you both posting, and thinking of you. Been through the same, so know how times are hard. Sending hugs. xx
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and partially sunny. Still no rain or thunder here, although heavy rain is forecast for later tonight.
GrandMattie the clothing exchange sounds as if it has been very productive. As does your church event Ash. ExDancer I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering from toothache. It's very unpleasant. Greyduster what a lovely meal. I,too, like my own bed.
Yesterday was a quiet day as planned. Lots of housework done and pottering. I visited mum in the early evening and she was very cantankerous. It's all quite difficult as her short term memory has totally gone most of the time.
Today I will head to the local garden centre as I must buy some cards and gifts and they have a nice selection. I'm not sure what I'll get up to for the rest of the day except I'll visit mum at some point. Pork for dinner. Have a good day all
Exdancer good morning, no GM and I dont know each other, although we’ve been around for a while!
I’m in Cyprus for another few days and there is a 2 hour time difference, so I’m up way before anyone posts here in the UK in the mornings, when I’m back at home I will be on here much later!
I hope that Mick is recovering ok, having an op at our age knocks the stuffing out of you doesnt it.
Good morning everyone from a grey and overcast Northampton, a fine morning ahead, but rain and thunder forecast after lunch.
Up and enjoying a cup of tea while younger DGD slumbers on. I have bacon defrosting ready for breakfast.
She made some lovely scones yesterday which we enjoyed with jam and cream. I have packed some up for her to take home. Then she sat in the dining room and did her homework while I read my book.
After dinner we watched 'Night in the Museum', which happened to be on tv, and had strawberries and ice cream 🍦🍦!
Her birthday is in a couple of weeks when she turns 13, so I asked what she would like for her birthday, and she gave me a short list, and I have duly ordered a pencil case, highlughters, and a book.
Not sure what I shall do the rest of the day once she has gone home, probably read the papers and my book and watch tv.
Hope your Sunday is a good one.
Good morning, it’s misty here on the edge of Somerset and thankfully cooler.
Off home after a lovely few days with a great group of ladies, I do hope we can all meet up again sometime soon.
Have a lovely day 🌹
Good morning. A little overcast here but still warm.
Yesterday’s family BBQ was lovely. Everyone relaxed and chatty and the little ones happy and entertaining us all. One of those times you wish you could put in a box to open when things don’t feel so good.
We have friends coming for coffee this morning for a chat about our upcoming visit to some other friends in just over a week.
DH will then be going out for a Fathers Fay treat with all three of our DDs.
I am going to have a few quiet hours enjoying some art work.
A good day wished for all and special thoughts to all under par in any way.
Good morning from a cloudy but warm Torbay.
I hope we shall soon hear from Mick. Thoughts and prayers are with him, also Kalu and Urmstongran; it was good to hear from her.
Yesterday I helped with our church’s Summer Fair on the park opposite my flat. It rained early on but then warmed up so was well supported. I took the money for the burgers and hot dogs besides drumming up entrants for the dog show. There were three categories;-
Waggiest Tail
Quickest to Sit
Dog That Looks Like Its Owner!
The waggiest tail was won by a border collie pup called Chaos!
Early service then home for the day. A blessed Sunday to you all. 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩
Good morning grandmattie and oopsadaisy, you obviously 'know' each other whereas I just popped in because I've woken early with toothache and its driving me nuts.
I'm not sure I can cope with church today although it might make me stop feeling sorry for myself. Your church clothing exchange sounds like an excellent idea and something I might suggest for our congregation, I'd be interested to hear more about it when I'm feeling more myself again.
Anyway, nice meeting you as it were.
I'll pop back later to see how you're getting on.
Good morning to all GNs and Mick who I hope is now recovering at home. An enormous clap of thunder woke me at quarter past four this morning and we have had a good amount of rain by the look of things, praise be. We had a lovely dinner at a favourite Thai restaurant last night. Delicious food exquisitely presented and impeccable service. I think DD was expecting me to stay over but I had coffee with them and then drove home and had an early night. Nothing much planned for today except a small food shop. If the weather clears and it’s cool I might drive over to the country park for a walk.
Have the best day you can folks.
Hello again.
All this talk of Mick going home yesterday made me hesitate to open earlier. Perhaps I’ve still started too early.
The church clothes exchange seemed to have worked well. We had been given any amount of clothes of all sizes, some still with labels. We arranged them in type and size, most on borrowed rails.
The arrangement was that you paid £10 entrance. For that , you could take home as many bar as you wished, tea and cake free. Raffle tickets extra.
DS and the DGDs ran the raffle - very successfully, DS because of his charm, the DGDs because of their youth and enthusiasm. DGD1 aged 13 had the time of her life; she’s very into her fashion. I sat at my borrowed machine and did a spot of mending, but mainly made tote bags from pillowcases.
I was very tired, it had been a long day. I’ll know today how much we made for the church charities.
Church today, but that’s it.
It was very good to have news from Urms and kalu despite their difficult circumstances. ❤️ to you and your families.
Have a gentle day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning GM and Mick who I hope is recovering at home.
Thoughts are with Urms andKalu as always.
We had a brief but heavy shower of rain during the night so it’s cooler this morning.
Have a good day everyone, I’ll pop back later to read posts
Good morning from a sunny Bristol.
I’ve opened late, hoping that Mick would.
