Horrible shock

Friday morning I found my friend and neighbour dead in bed.
He was only 51,wheelchair bound animal and nature lover, gentle kind man.
We watched out for each other, supported each other, laughed and shared coffee in the communal garden,we went shopping and people watched over a cuppa, even went with another neighbour on a " pub crawl" several times.
He had not had a happy start in life, but didnt hold a grudge, unmaterialistic,he lived for his dog, tobacco, coffee, and his sport on TV.
We knew each others history, and treated each other with respect,it was a purely platonic older woman younger man friendship,we had each others backs.
Today I will be dealing with his breaved parents,I handled his accounts and did his paperwork, complete trust on both sides.
I will miss him so much RIP Jim, a true gent.
Thankyou for letting me share my sadness

So very sorry about your friend it must have been heartbreaking to find him. He had you in his life and that was a blessing for him someone who loved and cared about him.
I am sure you have wonderful memories that you will treasure forever.
Your friend will always be in your heart as my best friend is he died ten years ago. I still miss him but smile every day when I think of him.
Your friend will always be there in your heart too.💐

Doodledog Sun 18-Jun-23 09:25:13

How shocking for you, downtoearth, and how awful to lose someone close to you so suddenly. Small comfort maybe, but as he died in his sleep he probably knew nothing about it, and it’s the way many people would choose to go.

I wish you well in your bereavement and hope the administration and in dealing with his friends and family flowers.

Pittcity Sun 18-Jun-23 09:25:13

Sending you a big virtual hug 🤗 dte

Yes a terrible shock for you downtoearth but you can be proud to have known and helped such a lovely man who found contentment despite his poor start in life and disability. We can learn so much from such people but don’t we miss them when they are gone. After the grief I am sure you will remember him with fondness. You take care now at this sad time. xx

cornergran Sun 18-Jun-23 09:17:26
