Horrible shock

Friday morning I found my friend and neighbour dead in bed.
He was only 51,wheelchair bound animal and nature lover, gentle kind man.
We watched out for each other, supported each other, laughed and shared coffee in the communal garden,we went shopping and people watched over a cuppa, even went with another neighbour on a " pub crawl" several times.
He had not had a happy start in life, but didnt hold a grudge, unmaterialistic,he lived for his dog, tobacco, coffee, and his sport on TV.
We knew each others history, and treated each other with respect,it was a purely platonic older woman younger man friendship,we had each others backs.
Today I will be dealing with his breaved parents,I handled his accounts and did his paperwork, complete trust on both sides.
I will miss him so much RIP Jim, a true gent.
Thankyou for letting me share my sadness

Thankyou to everyone who has given me support.
Just an update, jim has a very complicated set up family wise, but I have been treated with warmth by all.
I will meet his biological dad today as he is executor, and I have jims key and all his dicuments that I was in the process of sorting for him.
I was invited to help in arranging his funeral,by his adoptive dad.
Yesterday, I received a bouquet delivered from his adoptive family, thanking me for being his friend.

Thankyou all for your kind words,Jims dad has just left,he has a lot to digest, will meet again to tomorrow.
MIY Rosie wasnt a support dog,she is a daft as a brush lab who loves to play ball, and run in the breeze with ears and tongue flapping and a big grin on her face.

Aww bless her, she will miss him so much, but a farm will be great for her! x

Poor man. I hope tomorrow will be a little easier for both of you.
What a lovely picture you paint of Rosie. Dogs are a great source of comfort aren’t they?

So sorry for the shock and pain you are going through with the sudden and unexpected loss of such a dear friend. Thank you for sharing the story of Jim and your times together. In those few sentences you were able to paint a complete picture of the very essence of friendship. We should all be so blessed to have and be such a friend. And kudos to you for helping to find a good home for Jim's faithful companion. flowers

Oh what a horrible shock *Downtoearth, you've had a lot to contend with ... was his dog a support dog? I could do with one that's trained up - my useless Golden Retriever didn't have the right temperament, bless him .....!

Annsixty Jim had a beautiful just 2year old fox red Lab,I went with him to choose her, fortunately I was able to ask the family that still have her mum and sister if they could help, they arranged for her to be kept in the family circle, she will live on a farm and be well loved once more,it was the last thing I could do for him to make sure his beloved girl was looked after.

I’m so sorry, Downtoearth, that must have been truly awful for you. You each had a true friend in the other and enriched each other’s lives. That is all any of us can ask - that we enrich the lives of others. Be kind to yourself💐.
