My ex attended Sexey's School in Bruton, Somerset!

Aberdeen has a pub called My Father's Moustache and there's the Elbow Room in Kirkcaldy.,

There used to be a pub in Springburn called the Kerry Inn. Next door was an off license called the Kerry Oot.

I remember a bar from my long ago youth (no idea where either my youth went or the bar was) known as the 'Brahms and Liszt'.

I love these imaginative names. In Victoria we have the Bard and Banker (in the old financial district) and The Sticky Wicket.

In a town near me a redundant bank building was converted into a pub and named the Real Ale Tavern. Locals have now shortened it to the Rat.

In Wareham 'The Silent Woman'. There was one of the same or similar name in Widford in Essex.

OT but you've sent me down memory lane.

On holiday in Wales in the 1970s we would frequent the village pub each night in Llanrhaeadr ym mochnant.
Nearly all were Welsh speaking men who played dominoes and occasionally burst into song. It was a slate mining area.
Every time a pint was ordered, from behind a screen, the younger one of the 2 ancient barmaids would descend to the cellar and bring up a freshly drawn cold brew in a jug.

The pub itself was the George. I think but probably once had a proper Welsh name. When I last saw it, it was closed and the building crumbling.

Hark to Bounty in the Forest of Bowland. Upstairs is the old Lancashire law court with all the wooden benches. I believe that criminals were taken from there to Hull and Halifax to be hanged.
The saying “ may the lord preserve us from hell Hull and Halifax “ comes from this.

Yes. We stayed at The Hark to Bounty. It was a delight. The name comes from an old farmer who used to leave his dog Bounty outside. The dog used to howl and he'd say 'Hark to Bounty' to the other patrons.

There's one near us named The Worlds End.

When I was working I used to go to a pub after work near London Bridge called The Elusive Camel...

Scribbles I grew up in Barking,think that used to be called the Spotted Dog.
Also in Barking was The Barge Aground ,Brewery Tap,and The Captain Cook,Captain Cook is buried in St Margarets,now cathedral,opposite where the pub was.
I worked in the Cook and met my husband there in 1976.
