Good morning all from a partly sunny Glasgow, where it is 13°C. Thank you GM for opening up.
I'm concerned that we haven't heard from Mick, however I don't think he has any portable devices to enable him to post from hospital, he hasn't done so on previous occasions.
A very happy birthday to you, Sar! 🎁🎂🎈
Yesterday, I had to ask DH to drive me to my two medical appointments, as I felt so awful.
I am now officially grounded after yesterday's drama at the surgery.
While I was getting my bloods done, the practice nurse popped in to ask the phlebotomist to take an extra blood sample.
When I asked why, the nurse said it was for my heart review. "I'm here for a COPD review", I said. "You are also having a heart review", said the nurse.
I had suggested that DH wait in the car, as I didn't expect to be too long. Wrong move! I was there for nearly two hours!
I tried texting, phoning and waving from the surgery window, (he was parked underneath, the open window) to let him know there was a problem!
All to no avail.😡
During the heart review, the nurse said she was messaging a GP for advice, because my BP was sky high and I was so unwell. I was gently repriminanded, that I should have probably have gone to A&E last week or at least have phoned the surgery. 😪
After the heart review, she kindly advised me that I had to wait in the waiting room and a GP would call me for a consultation.
Meanwhile, DH was still sitting in his car oblivious and I was getting more and more upset. Eventually he answered his phone, but because he couldn't hear me, (#deafness denial) he was shouting down the phone and the whole surgery could hear him.
We have a Scottish saying, black affronted, that is how I felt. 😚
Eventually realising something was amiss, he came rushing into the surgery, a very contrite man.
I had a thorough check up and the outcome is that I have fluid around my heart and lungs, which is why I have felt as if I have been suffocating for the last week. It is a really horrible feeling. I just put it down to the heat, but apparently my heart failure has become worse. A bit of a shock and not a good situation to be in.
New medication to treat it, but it will be hospital to drain the fluid from my heart, if it doesn't settle down within a few days.
Once again, luck was on my side, just like my previous heart episode in January, another few days and I would have been in a stickie pickle. I am a cat with nine lives! 😉
It's a bummer, to say the least. DH and I had booked an Italian lunch in Glasgow for today, before our local railway line closes for electrification next week.
I was so looking forward to visiting it and visiting TKMaxx, with my packhorse DH.
Wee Babydoll has a hip scan today, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She has become very active with no obvious signs of problems, so we are hopeful. 🤞
As always, all those on here struggling remain in my prayers. I was quite upset to read my pal Kalu's post. Thank goodness she has her girls to support her and DH. 💐
I wish you all the best of days and your trip is going well Gwen..
