Happy Birthday Sar!
Rest up Marydoll.
Cookery books and other books - are you keeping them ?
Good morning from a sunny Bristol.
A beautiful morning for the 2023 summer solstice. Ihopethe worshippers had a lovely sunrise at .Stonehenge .
Happy Birthday Sar!
Rest up Marydoll.
Marydoll 💐. Take life very easy, my dear
Morning all
Happy 70th Birthday to a very dear lady Sar53 I hope you have a fabulous day and that your birthday gathering on Sunday is a splendid occasion 🎂🥂🎂🥂🎂🥂😘😘😘
Gingster enjoy your escape I hope the weather stays good for you. You’re poor DiL what a fright.
Sports Day went ahead yesterday afternoon, the field had absorbed all the rain from the morning, the 8yr old GS’s school house came second overall so he was ok’ish with that.
My lively cleaning fairies are here first thing, I am off to the gym and then to the big Sainsbury’s to fill the fridge in preparation for having The Imp and 8 yr old here for a sleepover at the weekend.
Have a good day, enjoy the weather and the longest day of light.🙋♀️🦩
Good morning all from a partly sunny Glasgow, where it is 13°C. Thank you GM for opening up.
I'm concerned that we haven't heard from Mick, however I don't think he has any portable devices to enable him to post from hospital, he hasn't done so on previous occasions.
A very happy birthday to you, Sar! 🎁🎂🎈
Yesterday, I had to ask DH to drive me to my two medical appointments, as I felt so awful.
I am now officially grounded after yesterday's drama at the surgery.
While I was getting my bloods done, the practice nurse popped in to ask the phlebotomist to take an extra blood sample.
When I asked why, the nurse said it was for my heart review. "I'm here for a COPD review", I said. "You are also having a heart review", said the nurse.
I had suggested that DH wait in the car, as I didn't expect to be too long. Wrong move! I was there for nearly two hours!
I tried texting, phoning and waving from the surgery window, (he was parked underneath, the open window) to let him know there was a problem!
All to no avail.😡
During the heart review, the nurse said she was messaging a GP for advice, because my BP was sky high and I was so unwell. I was gently repriminanded, that I should have probably have gone to A&E last week or at least have phoned the surgery. 😪
After the heart review, she kindly advised me that I had to wait in the waiting room and a GP would call me for a consultation.
Meanwhile, DH was still sitting in his car oblivious and I was getting more and more upset. Eventually he answered his phone, but because he couldn't hear me, (#deafness denial) he was shouting down the phone and the whole surgery could hear him.
We have a Scottish saying, black affronted, that is how I felt. 😚
Eventually realising something was amiss, he came rushing into the surgery, a very contrite man.
I had a thorough check up and the outcome is that I have fluid around my heart and lungs, which is why I have felt as if I have been suffocating for the last week. It is a really horrible feeling. I just put it down to the heat, but apparently my heart failure has become worse. A bit of a shock and not a good situation to be in.
New medication to treat it, but it will be hospital to drain the fluid from my heart, if it doesn't settle down within a few days.
Once again, luck was on my side, just like my previous heart episode in January, another few days and I would have been in a stickie pickle. I am a cat with nine lives! 😉
It's a bummer, to say the least. DH and I had booked an Italian lunch in Glasgow for today, before our local railway line closes for electrification next week.
I was so looking forward to visiting it and visiting TKMaxx, with my packhorse DH.
Wee Babydoll has a hip scan today, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She has become very active with no obvious signs of problems, so we are hopeful. 🤞
As always, all those on here struggling remain in my prayers. I was quite upset to read my pal Kalu's post. Thank goodness she has her girls to support her and DH. 💐
I wish you all the best of days and your trip is going well Gwen..
Good morning from a bright & fresher feeling Sefton. A proper night's sleep for a change so a late start this morning. A sunny day is forecast.
Zoom exercise class this morning followed by a short drive to our Pilates class. I have some gaps in the garden to fill with plants I bought yesterday so that's this afternoon sorted.
Will return later to catch-up.
Good morning all from a lovely sunny Black country after yesterday's torrential downpours it is very welcome.
Happy birthday Sar 🎂🍾💐 have a great day.
Watched Michael Portillo on his travels yesterday he was at Urmston station thoughts of Urms came to mind.
Nursery pick up today and maybe some ironing later.
Enjoy your Wednesday everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and sunny. There are clouds about too though. Sar a very happy birthday to you. I hope you have a lovely day. BlueSapphire I don't think you can kill a buddleia! I would like one for my garden as they attract bees and butterflies. Ash I'm glad it was a simple fix. Gingster what a horrible thing to have happened to your dil.
Yesterday was fine. Lots of playing. Dgs2 is struggling with communication just now. He desperately wants to tell us things but doesn't have the ability yet. So he's getting frustrated. I was too tired to think of food so I sliced chorizo and onion, fried them with halved cherry tomatoes and added gnocchi then a little red wine. It tasted lovely and took ten minutes in one pan. I had a nice glass of red wine to go with it too.
Today I have nothing planned. I shall potter about the garden and do a little tidying in the house. Later I'll visit mum. I've ordered a standalone fan which comes either today or tomorrow. Chicken curry for dinner. Have a good day all.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders on this the summer Solstice.
I was still up at midnight waiting for the electrician to finish fixing the wiring so that the boiler heats the water. We had no hot water when there were 8 of us here at the weekend gathering for Gt gran's funeral. Otherwise, everything went well.
I'm sorry about your family's experience Gingster but glad noone was hurt.
Yarn group today and community lunch.
I've invited a couple of friends for supper. I had better have a nap first!
Happy birthday Sar Enjoy your day.
I hope Mick is on the mend.
Best wishes to all of you.
Good morning from a sunny Bristol. I’m about to pop downstairs for a cup of tea before the DGC leave for school…..too hectic when they are all getting ready, arguing who has got what….etc.
Not sure what the day has in store apart from a post school visit to meet the girls’ ponies. Hope today is a good one for all especially those with health worries and those with celebrations of any kind planned.
Good morning everyone from a sunny Inverness where another lovely day is forecast
A very Happy Birthday Sar enjoy your special day 🎂🥂🎉
I’ll be going to a couple of classes at the gym first thing and then I’ll be home to potter in the garden.
How awful for your Dil gingster but thank goodness she wasn’t hurt. Hope your much needed break away recharges your batteries and you can relax a bit
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.
Thinking of Mick , I hope he’s doing well.
Happy birthday Sar, enjoy your day.
I’m working in my local shop today, just holding the fort so much less pressure. Just as well as I’m ever so slightly sore and tired after pushing a buggy around the hills of Edinburgh yesterday whilst DH & DS wielded paintbrushes.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
Good morning, another hot day in Cornwall. I'll get the bus to the sea front first thing and sit on the beach for a couple of hours. Then back to prepare for someone new coming tomorrow to explore art with me, on random pieces of wood, her choice. It will be fun.
Last night I dreamt that gM and Mick were having coffee together. My heart medication is giving me very vivid dreams.
Happy 70th Sar. Mine was recently, a good age to be, I reckon.
Good morning everyone from a lovely bright and sunny 🌞Northampton. A fairly quiet morning, then this afternoon to the well-being cafe to enjoy knitting, cake and chat.
Had a pleasant health walk yesterday, no more rain after the.morning's torrent. When I got back I got the garden saw out and chopped the dead branches off a buddleia; I thought I had killed it with my too enthusiastic pruning in the spring, but there is.fresh green growth coming from the roots.
I shall probably cut the back grass when I get back this afternoon - it is garden waste bin collection tomorrow.
Happy summer solstice to all.
Good Morning all from Prestwick, haven’t peeped out of the blinds to see what the weather is like yet. Thanks Mattie for opening. I will have to see if I’ve got Micks number to find out how he is. It’s tricky being away from home. Yesterday we walked the length of Prestwick Main Street, gosh it has changed considerably in the past 50+ years. In the afternoon we walked to the beach. My sister and I have done a lot of reminiscing, we sat on a bench outside what used to be the bathing lake - where we spent most of the summers. Today we are heading to Ayr to see what’s left of it!
Have the best day possible folks!
Good morning from a sunny Torbay after a warm night which didn’t help me sleep, hence a “late” start!
A few years ago on the Summer Solstice, DH and I threw on some clothes and ventured to the Downs to watch the sunrise! It was magical - some folk were in the sea! I wish I had that kind of energy now. 🙁
Yesterday, I showed a potential new Member of Toads around our theatre. She was captivated from the outset so I’m sure we shall hear from her again.
My car is now talking to my phone again! My DD2 rang me early yesterday morning and said I’d probably switched off Bluetooth on my phone. She was right, I’m glad to say.
News of Mick would be welcome.
A Chinese meal would be my favourite choice, multicolouredswapsho
What a horrid experience for your DS2 and DIL, Gingster, especially as it prevented their attendance at their aunt's funeral.
Enjoy whatever today brings! Happy hump day! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It seems a bright day so far. I will be off to the National Portrait Gallery later. I’ll drive to Oxford, get a train and then a tube. Hopefully I will be home in time for the WI meeting. Thoughts with Mick and Urms and others who are suffering in various ways.
Good morning from a cooler but sunny South Downs.
Very welcome rain yesterday, and the garden seemed to grow a foot taller! Spent the afternoon deadheading roses and cutting back the climber that only flowers the once - but gloriously. The Delphs are all bent over except those spikes not yet flowered, so I might pick the bent ones some for some vases. Everything else is fine.
Must alter that dress that I’m going to wear to a “do” on Saturday. Although the priority is to vax the other half of the sitting room rug that I started yesterday. Quite a startling difference between the two halves😳.
I’m ignoring the fact that we have reached the suns zenith and it will now start to decline. I would like to stop for at least 2 months.
Vegetable chilli today
Kind wishes to those struggling.
Craft group this morning, singing this afternoon and a drink with next door neighbours to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary means full day so I had better get started. GMattie is an example of positive thinking in making her new life and I am full of admiration; and for Karmalady too. Hope for positive news of Mick and Marydoll and thoughts with all those dealing with sadness and suffering.
Have a lovely birthday Sar!🎂🎁
Good morning from sunny Colchester. A hot, dry day after yesterday's rain.
Wednesday morning coffee meetup in the city centre. I'll get the floors cleaned this afternoon as DH is out fishing.
Happy Birthday Sar53 and love to all 🦩 x
Oh Sar have a wonderful birthday. Enjoy the day and your gathering on Saturday. I know youve been really looking forward to all the family being together. 🎉🥳🎂🎁🎈🎊
Happy Birthday Sar i hope you’ll be spoilt 🎂🎉🎈.
Good morning from a bright and sunny day in Essex by the sea.
The longest day and my 70th birthday. 70 sounds old but I just don't feel it.
We are out to dinner this evening and I'm having a big family birthday lunch on Saturday. I can't wait to see my girls and granddaughters.
I hope Mick is doing OK and thinking of anyone else else not feeling too good.
Have a lovely day everyone, much love xxx
Good morning on this longest day.
We have a man coming to measure up for some blinds this morning. Apparently the same man who measured and fitted some about 8 years ago.
I have to bake some scones ready to take to craft club this afternoon. . It’s our last meeting before summer break.
In between that I have to get into MK to pick up my new glasses.
Later a hour or so babysitting for DGSs 2 &3.
Hope Mick will soon be back with us. Best wishes to all.
[Good morning all from a sunny North Leicestershire.
We have custody of the Wondrous Wolfie today - I think he and Pa are going to the fancy new playground near the canal - as recommended by a fellow gn.
This evening we are going to a next door neighbour's for a catch up and
Have the best day possible everyone.
