Comfort bras

I have been reading an ad showing pictures of a bra supposed to be more comfortable for older ladies. It looks just the thing with wide straps, support etc. but I cannot sort out the sizing! It gives weight and says to send for one size larger but larger than what?!

I find a ‘comfort bra’ is helpful when my asthma is playing up. Sloggi or, if you need more support, I found Cotton Traders amazingly good - comfortable, good uplift and certainly no boobs under armpits, never a good look. Cheap and wash well.

I have several of those, too, Wyllow3 and wear them on occasions when I feel I really should wear a bra although such days are increasingly rare.
The sizing does come up small though - I'm a size 14/16 but have to buy these in a size 20 to be comfortable. I also remove the padding as it makes me look like I have a pillow up my jumper!

I`ve been looking at, and thinking about, Daisy bras. They`re supposed to have been designed by a 70 year old woman, and actually look comfy in the pics.

Erm...I need the padding.....grin.

yes, I buy one size larger, but they do warn you "fits small". But it's easy to order 2/3 sizes for a try out.

I rabbit on about them as they have transformed life as in comfort, nver had so comfy before, one hardly feels they are on, nothing cutting in or leaving bulges over the edges, and because of the colour range showing the straps just becomes part of an outfit.

There's no such thing as a comfort bra in my world. I have been wearing bilateral prostheses for 20 years and still haven't found a bra that I can wear comfortably all day, because of my scarring. Long line bras just roll up into a tight band and bras with a band cut into my chest. Light prosthesis rise up towards my shoulders and heavier ones just pull down. Think I will just have a pretty bra tattooed across my chest.

I got soft bras ( set of three) for my mother and ended up using them myself. I have since dumped all old style ones and have sourced more colourful ones on Amazon. I see Primark are doing similar now.

I saw those but I hate that feeling when you're boobs are squashed, I just bought a couple of wireless bras from Triumph, they've really nailed the comfort bra market in my book, they're pretty and some are in the sale too. Check them out, they're lovely!

I’m an E/F cup but only on one side as have had a mastectomy so am looking for a comfort bra with an insert that I can put a prosthesis in. Any suggestions??

Why is it saying buy one size larger? If the measurements even include weight surely the sizing should try to be accurate. Not even sure weight can be a factor. You can have a lot of muscle say in arms and legs and muscle weighs more than fat. How does that figure in bust measurement? Very strange.

I'm a UK size 10/12 and 34B/C. I wear the crop top style bras for karate and at night in the winter. I buy them from Sainsbury's and started off with the medium size. I soon graduated to the large size and now I buy the extra large because they were too small lengthwise. XL is their biggest size and they don't feel too big so heaven help anyone with big boobs.

I have ordered twice from Facebook adverts. Absolutely rubbish, and I should have known better than to place a second order (different company)

The size received bore no resemblance whatsoever to that advertised. e.g. ordered one to fit a melon, received one that, at a push eould have fit a grapefruit.

I was drawn in as I was looking for a firm, but comfortable, supportive bra, with front fastening, as arthritis is preventing me from doing a bra up at the back.

The search continues, thus far unsuccessful.

Amplebosom are the firm you need. In Yorkshire, they have a facebook page, a website and you can deal with them by post or make an appt to go and see them. Lovely very helpful people who really know their stuff. I have had bras and swimwear from them over the years.
M&S also do a very soft and comfortable bra for ladies who are quite full-bosomed. The bra is not attractive but is comfortable with good support but nothing digging in and is less than £20.00. You would no want anyone to see you wearing it but in is hot weather a godsend. I have three of them in different colours.

I wear comfort bras all the time, have done for a few years since I kept getting rib pain. I'm a 44c in ordinary bras but have some really comfy ones from Amazon in a 4xl size

Here’s what I’ve learned about bras (I don’t wear them anymore - I’m on the small side). I did wear them for work though and still have a drawer full in case I have a dressy event.

For comfort:
• look for underarm side panels that are high/wide cut. The higher the side, more support.
• under your breast line the bras with excess rubber/lycra going down your midriff claiming more support, more than likely will roll up and bunch under your cups. Ick.
• wider shoulder straps are more comfortable. Lightly padded are good.
• a molded cup, rather than a plain cloth unlined cup, is more comforting.
• a strapless bra - if you can pull it off - is the best for me. I discovered I hate straps!!

But here’s the rub - most women are not wearing their correct size. You may have to increase your cup size or chest measurement to get the right fit. Try that in the dressing room before buying!

This is the advert that I noticed on line recently, for the Daisy bra and others. I was a bit unsure about sizing too!

In my world, there so such thing as a comfort bra. I suffer with costochondritis as part of my all round fibromyalgia- my chest hurts all the time & always feels like I'm wearing an over-tight bra , even when I'm not wearing one at all. As you can imagine, I don't wear one unless I really have to, then it's either crop top types from Primark or, if I'm going out somewhere very special and/or want to feel feminine, Damart of all people do some very pretty non-wired bra sets.

Granniedot Mon 26-Jun-23 16:31:46

I have bought a few of these over the years and cannot find one that fits even if i go up a couple of sizes, maybe im in denial about my weight gain and size 🤔😊

Jane43 Mon 26-Jun-23 16:32:58

Marydoll

This!

They have these in M and S and you can try them on. They also have that design with a back fastening like a regular bra, I find those easier to put on than having to put them on over my head.

granma47 Mon 26-Jun-23 16:49:40

I recently bought the pack of 3 bralets from M & S which have removable padding. However, I don't feel confident wearing one and cannot understand the padding position. I cannot return them as I have cut out the back label because it was so annoying so am now left with 3 bralets which will probably go to the charity shop. Another £20 wasted.

Earlier on this thread I mentioned a company called Spuskey who sell these bras. Looking at the advert I would say this is the same company so I would not buy anything from them.

Same 🔥🔥🔥in advert, similar grey haired ladies modelling and exactly the same size chart. They are scammers who operate from China and do not reply to emails, do not refund money so you are well and truly stumped! The quality is poor, the sizing is ridiculously incorrect. They advertise under one name, eg Spuskey, get thousands of orders and thousands of complaints, then change to a very similar name, egSupskey or the one in the advert. Facebook do nothing about it.
AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

Lemonade make comfy bras without wires and have a wide range of sizes.

suzie20 Mon 26-Jun-23 19:32:06

I've tried loads of comfort bras in the past, but they only look good for 5 minutes and then I develop a uniboob.

NotSpaghetti Mon 26-Jun-23 23:15:58

I think this type of bra is unsuitable for those of us with larger breasts!

I like to feel I'm "facing forward" and not saggy. I'm actually perfectly comfy in a well-fitting underwired bra - mine have no padding. I put one on after my shower in the morning and unless I go swimming it stays on until I go to bed.

Ellypat Tue 27-Jun-23 02:55:48

After 60 years of bra wearing, I’ve yet to find one I would call truly comfortable. But being “well endowed “ I can’t do without one in public. Best moment of my day is when I take the wretched thing off and my bosom flies free!
