Good morning, Michael and all GNs from an overcast South Yorkshire. Rain and possibly thunder are forecast for later. I am stiff and aching this morning, probably from my swim yesterday but I enjoyed it. A hot shower will put that right. Writers group at the library this afternoon And a small food shop at some point.
Have the best day you can folks.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15° and dry. Very cloudy though. Marydoll you put a brave face on things and use humour to deflect from what is a really difficult situation for you. 💐 Ash my first foray into acting came via HMS Pinafore at school.
Yesterday was hard work. Dgs1 reached the car and, despite numerous times of asking, decided he needed a pee just as I had put Dgs2 in his car seat. I left him there and wheeched (good Scots word) dgs1 to the loo so quickly I'm surprised his wee legs weren't smoking. Got back to the car to discover dgs2 had taken his socks and shoes off. One sock has vanished into the unknown. Most of the day dgs2 was alternatively whiny or screamy. I've rechristened the seven dwarves 😂. He did learn how to say garden and showed it off to his mum and dad. He also fell off his wee chair and told me 'fall down'. His speech improves daily. Then dgs1, who had been bouncing on my bed, again unknown to me, fell off and hit his head. He seems fine but you need eyes in the back of your head.
Today is a day for doing nothing. I have two deliveries due at some point and DD wants to borrow my KitchenAid. I'll visit mum in the evening. Gammon for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning Mick and everyone from greyish bright Carlisle.
I have been awake since 4, the on/off kidney infection I have been battling for a week got worse. I got up early and a little while ago sent off an e-consult form to the surgery. Not expecting a response for hours, to my astonishment I got a phone call within 5 minutes from the doc! Antibiotics are on the way to the chemist so I'll have to struggle into town shortly.

Marydoll DO NOT stop posting! As you say, it's an outlet for you and I think that's important. Plus you are an inspiration to those of us who get easily cast down by much lesser but frustrating ailments. It helps me give myself a mental kick on the btm to think of you!

And you, Mick, glad to hear you feeling improved. Take it gently now.

Have a good day all.

Good morning from Durham. I’ve overslept! Meeting friend who was 70 last Friday for coffee, then going to pay for my September holiday in Cyprus.
Little dog goes home today along with an enormous bag of clean laundry - I expect more to collect, then picking up DGS1 from after school football club. Must fly..,Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and all from a cloudy Oxfordshire, I’m still fluey so not doing much.
Please don’t stop posting your novellas MD we are rooting for you.
Best wishes to all who are unwell or looking after sick loved ones.

Good morning from a slowly brightening NE where it is very mild.
Spent all of yesterday washing and ironing, soon as first load was ready for the washing line it started to rain.
SIL coming today to take me shopping, he is good with the scanner and packing.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Marydoll Wed 28-Jun-23 08:58:54

Oh, dear! I didn't mean my post to come across as a spot of self indulgent wallowing. I wanted to highlight how important this thread is for many, who although reluctant to post, find it supportive.

I'm still in bed, (some self indulgence), but am going to help Mr MD find a spot in MY kitchen for his birthday beer dispenser. I think I feel a little better. Onwards and upwards!
My biggest concern today, is whether to move, my breadmaker or Magimix or Kitchen Aid or Ice cream maker etc.... Being a gadget geek, has its difficulties. 😉

Good morning all from the Black country.
Late up this morning must be catching up on sleep after my weekend visitors.
DH ICD check was fine but they have upped his evening tablets next check will be 6mths but that's done from home by the monitor.
Busy day today nursery pick up then DH has an hearing test, at long last the nagging has paid off and he has succumbed.
We have a meal booked for later.
Will catch up with everybody's happenings after breakfast 31 posts already.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and healing vibes where required. May you all find some ☀️.

Grandmabatty Wed 28-Jun-23 09:04:56

Marydoll would the beer keg thing not be better in the utility room where it's cooler?😉

dustyangel Wed 28-Jun-23 09:10:15

Good morning everyone, I’ll catch up with you all properly in a moment. I’ve not read any post’s except Marydoll’s yet but I also wanted to say how much I’d miss your “novellas” if you didn’t post them. I’m praying for your new medication to help improve things.

We ate out with son in law last night but found that the restaurant’s air conditioning was struggling, not surprising as when we got outside the temperature was still 30°. At home our bedroom air con seemed to have given up as well but came on in the early hours. My face has taken to sweating with the heat and it is really uncomfortable and difficult to find anything that soothes it.

Love to all who are struggling, hang on in there Mick. Cycling starts soon. (Today?)

GrannySomerset Wed 28-Jun-23 09:11:23

Please don’t go, Marydoll, you are an inspiration and a light in the occasional darkness of every day life.

Was moved to scrub the front doorstep yesterday, not done for several years, but plant watering had left it looking dismal, and was reminded of my childhood when front steps were scrubbed and whitened daily.

Singing this afternoon and some necessary admin this morning but nothing else looms.

Nannagarra Wed 28-Jun-23 09:12:26

Good morning from Norfolk where, yesterday, Norwich and its medieval gems held our attention.
Thoughts to those in sick bay, those recovering (take it easy Mick), and those supporting the seriously ill.

Grammaretto Wed 28-Jun-23 09:20:18

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
A back to default summer weather sort of day. Overcast and flat peonies. I picked a bunch from their horizontal position.

Yarn group today and my visitor will leave this afternoon. It's been nice having him stay but a little too long. We went to the folk club last night and he sang 2 songs. Then the others played and sang Caledonia for a sentimental farewell.

I'm glad your recovery is going well Mick
I am glad you and DH had such a lovely babyfilled day for his birthday Marydoll
Enjoy today all of you if you can

NannyJan53 Wed 28-Jun-23 09:37:36

Good morning from a dull but warm Black Country.

Arrived home from our 3 weeks away yesterday lunchtime. Seems hard now to get back into normality.

Lots to do today. Washing on, housework to do. Shopping as I need to buy a small gift and card as my friend welcomed her 6th grandchild whilst we were away.

Love to all struggling with special thoughts to Urms and her DH.

Taichinan Wed 28-Jun-23 09:51:56

Good morning all from a very cool Angus coast. I came on here two hours ago, read the posts and then forgot to post my own contribution! So here I am after reading another 20 minutes' worth - still with nothing to say really.
Marydoll I echo Ekwanimity's post - your novellas keep us all amused but also help us to put our own wee niggles into perspective. We need you, as those holding a 'watching brief' have already told you.
I can be ridiculously melodramatic about my own health and imagine that every blip is a warning knock from the grim reaper - something to do with being in my eighties I suppose! So I'm pleased to report that today I am still here and feeling better at last 😉😁
Upstairs looks as if it needs a bit of attention from this housework fairy, so if you need me that's where I'll be today. I hope those with ailments also feel a bit better today and that the hayfever sufferers find some release. I had it all my life until I was 55 and found it got worse when it rained - something to do with the damp air keeping the pollen down rather than flying up and away I believe.
Have a lovely day all x

Auntieflo Wed 28-Jun-23 10:06:59

Good morning Mick, *Annie and all.
Mick, it is good to hear that you are slowly feeling able to take on just a wee bit more, but remember that it is not long since your operation, and 'things' do take a while to mend.

I am another who is often late out of bed, when there are no appointments, why get up early? It was 9.00 am this morning.
I do expect a telephone call from the oncology dept. a bit later on, then off to hospital for my infusion. If my blood tests yesterday were OK, then I will be given my next lot of chemo tablets.
Lovely photos NannyJan53.
Yesterday I hoicked out a very small and struggling Hydrangea, where it was being overwhelmed by the lavender. I have left it soaking and will have to find a small spot to re-house it. I don't want to lose it as it was a cutting from a dear friend.
Marydoll, please don't even think about not posting. We all look forward to your postings, and especially the novellas. You are an inspiration on how you manage your health issues.
Sorry that you are feeling fluey Oops. Take care of yourself and get better soonest.
Ekwa, is there nobody that could go and pick up your antibiotics for you? But well done for doing the e-consult thing and getting a quick result.
Sending loving thoughts to the Kalus and all who are having health problems.
Have a good day one and all.

Good Morning from a cloudy S Yorks where its overcast with promised thunder later, which leaves the usual problem of drying clothes, in the end I resort to radiators which is fine in the winter...

Yesterday was far too busy so its a quiet day today bit of pottering and a chatty zoom if I want to go to. The doing much less thing - its a struggle to adjust to after a buy active life - my CFS precludes much - Marydoll its fine to post what you do, gransnet is a space where we can share stuff we don't want to burden family with at times as well as chat and joys of life.

Bests for poorlies and sad meets and hay fever sufferers and enjoy outings and family get togethers for today.

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 28-Jun-23 10:27:32

Good Morning all from cloudy but dry Harrogate. Marydoll put it this way, if posting here helps you, then it helps us as well? We'd all miss your novellas, and what would you do instead?
Yesterday went to York for my appointment, I'm quite proud of myself I walked to the shops went round them then walked to the hospital, that was quite a bit of walking for me. Did get the bus back, though.
Today I thought I was doing nothing, but my DD phoned and I am looking after DGD and one Golden retriever puppy.
Have the best day possible folks!

Greendress Wed 28-Jun-23 10:28:58

Marydoll Another lurker here who watches out for your posts daily - you are so inspiring and cheerful. I would miss your novellas. Please don't stop posting. I'm another South Yorkshire Grannie and will try to post more often. Currently in the process of a house move which is not going smoothly at all.Have a great day everyone and take care Mick and all carers and poorlies.
