Good morning from Durham. I’ve overslept! Meeting friend who was 70 last Friday for coffee, then going to pay for my September holiday in Cyprus.
Little dog goes home today along with an enormous bag of clean laundry - I expect more to collect, then picking up DGS1 from after school football club. Must fly..,Best wishes to all. X

Good morning Mick and everyone from greyish bright Carlisle.
I have been awake since 4, the on/off kidney infection I have been battling for a week got worse. I got up early and a little while ago sent off an e-consult form to the surgery. Not expecting a response for hours, to my astonishment I got a phone call within 5 minutes from the doc! Antibiotics are on the way to the chemist so I'll have to struggle into town shortly.

Marydoll DO NOT stop posting! As you say, it's an outlet for you and I think that's important. Plus you are an inspiration to those of us who get easily cast down by much lesser but frustrating ailments. It helps me give myself a mental kick on the btm to think of you!

And you, Mick, glad to hear you feeling improved. Take it gently now.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15° and dry. Very cloudy though. Marydoll you put a brave face on things and use humour to deflect from what is a really difficult situation for you. 💐 Ash my first foray into acting came via HMS Pinafore at school.
Yesterday was hard work. Dgs1 reached the car and, despite numerous times of asking, decided he needed a pee just as I had put Dgs2 in his car seat. I left him there and wheeched (good Scots word) dgs1 to the loo so quickly I'm surprised his wee legs weren't smoking. Got back to the car to discover dgs2 had taken his socks and shoes off. One sock has vanished into the unknown. Most of the day dgs2 was alternatively whiny or screamy. I've rechristened the seven dwarves 😂. He did learn how to say garden and showed it off to his mum and dad. He also fell off his wee chair and told me 'fall down'. His speech improves daily. Then dgs1, who had been bouncing on my bed, again unknown to me, fell off and hit his head. He seems fine but you need eyes in the back of your head.
Today is a day for doing nothing. I have two deliveries due at some point and DD wants to borrow my KitchenAid. I'll visit mum in the evening. Gammon for dinner. Have a good day all

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from an overcast South Yorkshire. Rain and possibly thunder are forecast for later. I am stiff and aching this morning, probably from my swim yesterday but I enjoyed it. A hot shower will put that right. Writers group at the library this afternoon And a small food shop at some point.

It was a simple day for him, Starting with a video Dolliegram from Portugal and then much of it spent with Babydoll in his arms and me fighting him for a cuddle. Nursing a wee one, does wonders for a troubled soul. Despite its simplicity, he said it was one of his best birthdays, ending with a takeaway with DD and SIL.
On going online, to order the Chinese food, I found all the local outlets were closed and had to phone DD. She suggested one she used, so I said I would order it and pay for it, if she picked it up. However, I couldn't find what SIL wanted, so she said they would go for it. Then I got a panic call, saying they only accepted cash and being modern adults, they don't carry cash! 😱 I couldn't go, because I'm not allowed to drive just now. 😔 What a palaver!

Passing Morrisons, we stopped for essentials, as I haven't been out for ages. I assured DH, I would be fine. Unfortunately, I began to feel very unwell, but he had disappeared (as is his want!). As to be expected, he did not answer his phone 😡and I have to admit I felt very vulnerable.
What ever happened to that feisty, wee woman, who would be in charge of a whole school of 350 children, when the rest of the management team were out and not bat an eyelid, when there was a crisis or heading off a difficult parent at the pass! I could have taken on the world in those days!

Finally; Warning, sentimentality alert,
Recently I have been considering not posting anymore, because all my posts are negative and that's not me. I do not wish my seriously failing ill health to define who I am, or bore people.
However, it has been an outlet for me, not wanting to upset my family and making them aware of my fears. DH is rather naive about health matters and is in denial about how very serious things are for me.
Over the last few days, I have received the kindest of PMs from posters, who have as one said, kept a watching brief ( I prefer that to lurkers.)
I think, we on this thread are totally unaware of its impact on those, who do not post, but keep a watching brief.
It has been a revelation.

Enjoy your day everyone. I have tasked DH with lighting candles for all who are struggling, when he goes to Mass tonight, I won't be attending, not up to it just yet.

Good morning from a slightly sunny Suffolk with no sign of rain and none yet predicted.

No keep fit class today as the teacher is on holiday but am meeting a friend from the class for coffee later and then one of my old business partners for an early dinner in a local town. His wife sadly died last autumn and although he has lots of friends and is busy during the day it is the evenings he finds particularly difficult.

Must think of getting the pile of ironing done in between socialising.

Good to hear that Mick’s recovery is progressing positively and hope all those with worries find some relief.

Good morning from Essex by the sea. It is cloudy at the moment but still very warm.
I am going food shopping shortly and then I am going to start cleaning the boat ready for when it goes back in the water.
DH is on the Thames with his friend bringing his boat back to Essex, they will arrive on Sunday.

Eldest gd moving from her student house today and will move into another on Saturday. I must buy her a card. She will be 21 in a couple of weeks but won’t be coming home as she is on placement and I’m wondering what to send her. Maybe a hamper of some type. She doesn’t drink or pamper so any ideas!

Onwards this morning to Brixham, we should be there by lunchtime.
We will set up the van, meet one set of friends who are also in a caravan and then wander around to our friends who are residents in Brixham. They will provide dinner this evening. Plans will be made for the week.

I’m making the effort to go swimming this morning. When I come home I’ll see about fixing up the water butt to the greenhouse gutter so I can catch the expected rain (if we get any).
More garden pottering or I might do some crafting instead and I remembered yesterday I said I would hunt out a photo of mum and show my brother. It’s rather a nice one. She had a lovely smile when she actually did.

Good morning from an overcast and breezier Cornwall. To my allotment to check my pond levels today and then a short bus journey to sub tropical Trebah gardens where I have an annual membership, which means it's worth just popping in for a short time, as I did yesterday. Lots of swallows were dipping and diving around the new water feature in the courtyard garden which has replaced the old tennis court. A beautiful calm space and easily accessed on crutches.

Mild & wet this morning here in Sefton. Makes a welcome change from the migraine inducing hot & humid.
Lots of small jobs/tasks achieved yesterday. A change in the weather helped.
Zoom exercise class this morning. And a Zoom meeting this afternoon to see how we're getting on with our 30 plant based foods per week challenge. I can see it will take me some weeks to achieve this but enjoying the challenge of clawing my way out of my food rut.
Glad to see you're recovering Mick. Slowly but surely does it. Take care & have a good day all. This change in the weather might help a lot of us feel better.

I’m glad you’re able to eat more solid food, Mick. May I suggest you pull just a few items at a time out of your washing machine, rather than lifting a full basket? It’s good you feel like doing more. Needs must, I guess.

Two pleasant outings, GrannyGravy13 and BlueSapphire, except for the hay fever issue. . Do you wear glasses/sunglasses which protect eyes somewhat from pollen? Also, I believe Vaseline just inside your nostrils is recommended to catch the pollen. (Apologies if I’m teaching granny to suck eggs!!)

Well, guess who mistook the day for the fire extinguisher training? That will teach me to listen more carefully to announcements in church! Our priest was delighted to see I was interested but it’s not until 11th July!

I decided to go to Props anyway, partly to be out of the way of my cleaner. The “girls” were delighted to see me, not least because there was plenty to do backstage in preparation for the G & S Society, due in next week to perform HMS Pinafore. A small orchestra has to be accommodated in one wing, requiring chairs to be organised. Also, the large no. in the ladies' Chorus require extra spaces in the dressing rooms, created with little tables and mirrors from the Props store.

Thoughts with*Urmstongran*, who posted elsewhere yesterday, and Kalu. Hope Marydoll is feeling better.

Good morning from s somerset, cloudy all day today and bearable temperatures

I was shocked at the tills in waitrose yesterday, not one manned till and it was the same in b and q a few days ago. I feel as though I am being dragged kicking and screaming into paying with cards. I have had to order a more modern phone and don`t want to learn something else but will have to, just so I have the wherewithall to pay via app for parking. Local shops still take cash and good for them, no wonder they are well supported

Probably some knitting today and a brisk walk, if I don`t get out cycling

I made another dress yesterday. Sadly, I didn’t have enough of the shocking pink; I’ll have to think of another garment - a tunic perhaps. I used some b/w fabric I had.
Haircut and “inmate” coffee morning. I hope they like the lemon drizzle cake that I made for them.
