A very late “hello” from me. I was busy doing other things this morning.
So pleased you feel brighter today Marydoll and will continue posting 👍🏼.
Mick, glad you are feeling a little better with each passing day and that you are being sensible regarding taking things gradually.
I agree, Cragside is wonderful. I’ve been a couple of times and think it’s one of the best NT properties to visit. I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting that part of the world.
Well, it’s coffee time now. Hope the afternoon is going well for you.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-Jun-23 11:55:02

Late to the party today.
Will read all your news later.

I had a wonderful day yesterday with two members of our Aussie Family we strolled along the canal in the Olympic Park, had a glorious lunch (thank you for the recommendation Gingster ) we then went up to Greenwich, I had forgotten how unbelievably beautiful the ceiling is in the painted hall.
I am rather tired today, so it will be a pottering day.

(((Hugs))) to all the poorly and those who just want one, including my dear pen pal

Have a good one folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

A late good morning from a sunny, breezy Co Durham.
Although I’ve read this thread every day it was too late to post.
Mick, glad you’re improving. I find my online grocery deliveries good. Our local store never has everything I want but the deliveries seldom let me down.
Marydoll, so pleased you are still posting. You are so brave in the face of adversity, and have a wonderful way with words.
Thoughts, as ever with Urms and Kalu and those with health problems
Have spent hours trying to sort a car problem. 9 month old car, under 3000 miles and brakes need new discs!! Garage wanted over £300 as they say it is not under warranty for this. This normally happens after tens of thousands of miles. Rang car makers and they are looking to make it a ‘goodwill’ repair. Fingers crossed. We only bought a brand new car to ensure no large service bills. Wish we’d kept the old one.
Harrigran, Cragside is magical.

Yesterday was a ‘me’ day. Manicure, pedicure and henna brows.
So relaxing.
Pilates class this evening, I’m finally beginning to feel the effects 😂. So out of condition.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. Good idea to get groceries online for the time being Mick, it saves carrying heavy bags.

Today I must do a little washing, but first I need to get some stain spray from Morrisons and collect a prescription from the pharmacy. MrB cut his leg yesterday when working in the garden. It wasn’t serious but there is blood on his light coloured shorts.

Thinking of Kalu, Urms and all who are dealing with illness right now.

Have a good day all 🌻🌻🌻

LauraNorderr Thu 29-Jun-23 10:28:58

Good morning Mick and all from a bright and sunny Anglesey.
Slow and steady wins the race Mick, sensible idea to rely on online grocery shopping for the time being.
Still plodding on with wall painting after plastering, all looking fresh and bright.
Looking out of the kitchen window reminds me that there’s some dead heading to be done but the pink roses always make me smile.
Thinking of our special friends who are struggling and sending good wishes to all of you 🦩🦩🦩

hollysteers Thu 29-Jun-23 10:11:02

Talking the hind leg off a donkey I meant to say 🙄 (A very strange expression I grew up with)

hollysteers Thu 29-Jun-23 10:04:00

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast.
Online food shopping is very useful Mick, especially at times like this and a time just to please yourself and rest.
At home today and tomorrow thank goodness as I have hardly been here.
Yesterday by bus into town for lunchtime concert which I enjoy for a change as it’s nice to see people and have a chat, which doesn’t happen in the car. Nice programme, violin and piano. My friend said he probably wouldn’t make it as he had a dental appointment but he came to meet me at the end, which was nice and we spent another afternoon talking the leg off a hind donkey.
House stuff today and ‘admin’.
Thoughts to Kalu Urms and all with worries of any kind.

Juliee Thu 29-Jun-23 09:53:05

Good morning from a cool Siberia.
Glad you are on the mend, Mick!
I had tea with a friend today but I got totally soaked walking to the cafe.
I am meeting another friend for tea in a minute but thankfully the sun is shining!
I have been gorging on fresh peaches, apricots and cherries. So moreish!
Have a good day everyone!

Good morning from a wet W Kent. Off to art group this morning and then this afternoon I have decided to go and look for the place I have to attend a speed awareness course on Monday. I am quite worried about it and don't want to be trying to find an unknown place at the same time. Ironically I don't drive to places I don't know anymore, still my fault for getting in this fix.
Best wishes to all those worried or one degree under.

Taichinan Thu 29-Jun-23 09:30:48

Good to hear your DH is doing so well after his knee op Brook.

Anniebach Thu 29-Jun-23 09:20:01

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Grammaretto Thu 29-Jun-23 09:08:23

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Bright sunshine here with light breeze.

Marydoll if that post was meant for the Aldi popup, it was helpful!

My visitor has left so just housework to do. My classes have stopped for the summer holidays.
One of our U3A group died suddenly yesterday. She wasn't even unwell.
Seize the Day!

Good morning from a lovely warm day here on the east coast of Fife. I’ve got a hospital appointment today to get my wee basil cell carcinoma removed and I’m not looking forward to that
my lovely daughter will be taking me as I’m terrified of needles but it needs to be done.

Have a good day my friends

ginny Thu 29-Jun-23 08:42:10

Good morning all. We arrived in Brixham and met up with our friends. First job was to get the travelling friends car to a garage as they had had some trouble on the way. I seems to be a little sick but hopefully will recover today. The friends that live here welcomed us with a scrumptious dinner and a happy reunion was had.
I will be dosing myself up with painkillers today. My normal hip pain in R hip and now I have sciatica on my left side.
We are having brunch in the sea front in a while and then I think the plan is to take the rest of the day as it comes. DH and I are in charge of dinner tonight. I have a sausage casserole which I froze at home and it has been slowly thawing in the fridge. Pancakes, ice cream and berry sauce for pud.
Wishing all a good day and healing thoughts for all who need them.

GrannySomerset Thu 29-Jun-23 08:34:17

U3A book group here this morning, local history society trip this afternoon (going round Bristol docks on the Mathew, amazing replica of one of Cabot’s ships) and then meal with my dear friend and neighbour to mark her wedding anniversary eleven years on from her husband’s untimely death. And it is DD’s birthday so I must make a phone call. Best get started. Will catch up with everyone later.

Marydoll Thu 29-Jun-23 08:26:04

Wrong thread!!🤣

Marydoll Thu 29-Jun-23 08:20:22

Another stupid question. Have you logged off and back on again?

Marydoll Thu 29-Jun-23 08:19:06

Ash, I meant to say that I hope olddudders, gets things sorted. DIL's father, our neighbour has been producing too much calcium, causing all sorts of problems in his remaining kidney.
A benign tumour was discovered on that same gland and he is waiting for it to be removed.
I will add him to the list.

Taichinan Thu 29-Jun-23 08:14:48

Good morning Mick and all. Good to hear you continue to recover and are taking things gently. Keep up the good work, and enjoy the cycling.
It's a lovely sunny day here on the Angus coast, but it feels chilly. Yesterday afternoon I felt so cold that I gave the heating an hour's run. When the sun came out in the late afternoon, it soon warmed up!
We've had some really beautiful nights this week, with such lovely skies - I don't mind not sleeping at this time of year!
This morning is Tai chi again. My wonky knee is gradually settling down thank goodness, as is my equally wonky insides, which is a relief. Tomorrow I'm going out for lunch with late DP's ex DiL and I don't want to seem too doddery!
It's lovely to read about everyone's 'doings', especially with DGCs. Mind you, that's a tall order NanKate, having the two boys for such a long time (though you'll love it I'm sure).
Sorry to hear about olddudder's problems Ash. Even though the doctor is upbeat about it, it's still a worry flowers.
Enjoy your days everyone, and the novelty of those rain showers.

BlueSapphire Thu 29-Jun-23 08:12:48

Good morning everyone from a decidedly damp Northampton; we have had rain and it feels nice and fresh outside.

I had a lovely day yesterday visiting Kew Gardens; the weather was kind, overcast when we got there, but dry, and the sun came out in the afternoon. I managed all the glasshouses, the pagoda (didn't do the climb!), the broad walk and used the road train to get an overview of the whole site. So many p!aces I didn't have time to see! I walked almost 16,000 steps and over 5 miles! I need to book another trip for next year.

Awaiting an earlier Sainsbury's delivery today, as I have visitors arriving mid-morning. Haven't seen them since before lockdown, so a catch-up is way overdue. I am planning on taking them to Coton Manor Gardens, where we can chat whilst touring the Gardens, and then have a light lunch in the Stableyard cafe. They are old family friends; my DM was mother's help/nanny to the husband's late father when he was a little boy back in the 1930s, and lived with the family for over 10 years until she joined the Land Army during the war. So I have known the family all my life. Looking forward to their visit very much. Fingers crossed for fine weather.

Hope all have a good Thursday.

Marydoll Thu 29-Jun-23 08:11:39

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 12°C, with lots more rain forecast, I dread to think what the weeds are like,

I'm pleased to hear that you are making good progress and using online shopping. Try and slowly build up your stamina Mick.

I have my sensible hat back on again today, wobble over! 😉 I am afraid to jinx things, but I don't feel so unwell. 🙏 Your kindness yesterday meant so much to me, folks.

Yesterday was not without drama. I was absorbed checking my meds, (I like to double check, because there are so many), when I heard a crash behind me.
Part of the large cooker hood had come away from its fittings and was slowly descending towards the range. I let out a scream and called MrMD, who was upstairs, all to no avail! There was I trying to avert disaster and he was oblivious. Eventually, he called down, I will be down in a minute.. 🤬
Urgent tactics were required, so I started shouting, Help.
This was perhaps, not the best of ideas. He came hurtling down the stairs with a tube of superglue stuck to his fingers.
To elaborate, he was trying to fix another of my disasters,🤣
I am a walking liability. He is unaware that the hood was already shoogly, because a while ago, when cleaning it, I lost my balance and grabbed it, to prevent me falling. I shouldn't have been on a ladder in the first place.

Ages were spent setting up his birthday gift of a beer dispenser from the children, oh what a fuss! It had to be in a certain spot, have clearance on either side for air etc, etc. It's very painful biting your tongue for a prolonged period of time.😉

And don't mention the setting up of the Fitbit, DS2 no longer wanted. DH said he would do it himself, eventually, two hours later, I took over and sorted it in minutes. I haven't lost my touch, much to his annoyance.
My beloved is so like his father, to whom I was extremely close, it's his way or the highway. He cannot be told, 😁
I am saving the Brownie points earned to cancel out my next disaster.

I have very little plans for today, apart from taking in a linen jacket, which is just too baggy under the arms. I am that person, who was told by the nuns that, I was probably the worst sewer, they had ever seen. I am now an expert at unpicking stitches. Shame we didn't live nearer to each other, GM! 🤣

I hope the OOps feel better soon and best wishes to the many, keeping a watching brief, who feel it difficult to post.
DH put lit a stash of candles for the poorlies last night, one especially for the brave, but sad lady M who messaged me yesterday.

Have a good day folks. X

The End

Good morning all from showery South Lanarkshire.

Cragside is a beautiful place
Harrigran, one of my favourite National Trust properties.

A dental check up for me even although I’ve had one recently as my GP recommended I see my dentist before starting to take alendronic acid for osteoporosis.

After that we will drop Daft Dug off at DD’s where she’ll be thoroughly spoiled for a couple of days.

My charity is one of several which is running a pop up store as part of a Charity Supermarket event at a shopping centre in Glasgow, the launch was yesterday evening. We have been busy gathering stock for them and one of our young student volunteers has landed a paid job there so today I’m going to check it out and see how she’s doing.

Have the best day possible everyone.

EkwaNimitee Thu 29-Jun-23 08:08:19

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle where the sky is a beautiful cloudless blue.
It's got me awake very early again and the depressing radio news got me out of bed shortly after. Now caffeine and porridge have perked me up!
Collecting my prescription in town proved to be manageable and while I was at it, I visited M&S to treat myself to one of their ready dinners so no cooking last night. Incidentally, in case I'm not up to driving myself into town, I keep a taxi fund handy for that purpose though so far it's not been needed to collect my prescriptions.
Your comment about the grim reaper made me smile Taichinan, I could have written that myself. I suspect it's a not unnatural thought that occurs to quite a few of us older persons.
I'm going to do the ironing this morning and, depending on how that goes, I would really like to get outside and plant something, anything! I've a queue of plants waiting to go in and now the soil has been nicely moistened by the recent heavy rains.

GrandMattie, I think you are going to be very popular in your new abode with your yummy-sounding cake offerings!

Have the best possible day everyone.

monk08 Thu 29-Jun-23 08:04:47

Good morning all from a sunny Black country after rain during the night.
No plans today other than a trip to the library our bin men have been on strike now for 4wks and I've read they have bags to keep your recycling in until the dispute is settled.
DH hearing test has been rearranged he has wax in the one ear so they've booked that for removal first and have give him some drops.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

brook2704 Thu 29-Jun-23 07:57:38

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve some light grey cloud and looks like it’s been raining overnight
Good to hear you’re slowly improving mick, take it easy and online grocery shopping is the way to go.
Hoping all is ok with your DH Ash
We’re off out to one of the local garden centres this morning, DH is doing so well after his knee replacement and feels confident enough to walk very short distances outdoors now. It’ll mainly be a trip to the cafe, then a browse around the plants.
It’s the last day of term for the DGC here today, they finish at lunchtime so might pop and see them later - I expect they be in high spirits!
Hope you can get those rings back soon Gingster
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
