Is there something you did once then swore you would never ever do again?
I’ll start with scraping wallpaper off a wall.

Bacardi & Coke - Cuba libre in Spanish

One holiday in the Caribbean the food was so bad we only drank Cuba Libre and ate only Bread and Bananas.
The holiday passed in a haze but at least we were not ill, most of the others were.

LOL

Hitchhiking in Italy, with a friend aged 19 or 20, Gawd! What were we thinking of, nothing remotely sensible that's for sure. When she and I occasionally meet up we often mention "we were so utterly irresponsible, and dead lucky not to have experienced anything horrible"

Have an MRI scan. I am extremely claustrophobic but thought I would cope. I was deeply traumatised by it.

I will never again visit the whispering
gallery in St Paul's. I had a panic attack. First time I knew I was terrified of heights.

Worse than us, I have a friend who went to Turkey with a friend around the same age, befriended a Turkish guy who asked them to take some Turkish Delight back to brother in Brighton, where they were living, and they didshock Worse than that the TD was so delish looking they ate it! It seems that it was a genuine request and not some covert way of transporting drugs. They were too ashamed to contact the brother though, apparently he was really missing the Turkish Delight as sold at home[hmm

*NanKate*, you are brave for mentioning it now. Sadly, it seems to be a common reaction when that sort of thing happens to women that they don't immediately haul off and wallop the pathetic man involved (sometimes it's probably safer not to do so anyway), so don't feel that you should have done so. You did nothing wrong! flowers

When we were young, you could quite safely wallop the man - been there, done that.

Today we would probably face charges of assault if we slapped a man's face, or warmed his ears, or as my great-aunt did in her youth, stuck a hatpin into his arm!

The train is running again 🙂

It's just the last bit which defeated me.

unbeknown to our parents my 2 friends and I used to thumb a lift down to Brighton ... this was in the early 60s. We, luckily never came to any harm BUT a friend of my dad's saw us on the side of the road trying to get a lift and told my dad. I never did it again shock

Parasailing on holiday. Only did it because dds were calling me a wimp for not wanting to. You whizz up to such a height - and the rope connecting me to the boat kept jerking and I thought it was going to break and I’d be blown way out to sea.

I went hurtling backwards on a ‘fun’ roller coaster ride in a dark tunnel at Dreamworld. Thought I was going to die. My grandson, just a little kid at the time, loved it.

When I retired at 50 I swore I'd never give another dinner party, and I haven't. I'm nervous cooking for others and people were getting increasingly picky about what they would or would not eat. Too much stress and hassle!
Maggiemay, you're right about those Moroccan souks, the one in Marrakech was especially bad.

I’m never going to fly again.
I did it for many years, because I wanted us to have nice family holidays, which we did, but the weeks leading up to departure date, I was so anxious, then I would have to start worrying about the return journey.
I would always have a large gin before boarding, but the last time we flew we took another child, and I felt it might be inappropriate to start drinking at 6.am, so that was doubly terrifying!
Oddly, since then we have booked and had to cancel two holidays, so I’ve decided that is that, plenty of the UK we haven’t seen.

Eating liver.
Rather forced to as a child.
When I got to 16 I rebelled about it.
Have never eaten it since.

Make quince jelly. Bought a large bag of quince for £2 from a garden we visited last summer. Have made various jams many times but this was something else! Fruit were so hard ( maybe underripe) it was incredibly difficult to peel and chop. Decided to persevere and finally managed to complete the process. Ended up with about 5 jars of beautiful pink jelly which is delicious, but would never bother again. Gave a couple of jars away but ploughing my way through the rest. Nice with cheese.
