I’m not moaning about the nhs either but I’d like to have a government that demonstrated it supports our nhs

Sorry, Bea65, but I’m not following the gist of your post.
I agree that the NHS is, on the whole very good if you’re not on the receiving end of mistakes, mixed up appointments, difficulty seeing your GP, etc. However, there’s no denying that it isn’t as good as it should be in quite a few areas and this needs addressing now. Instead, there seems to be something of a blame game going on, and we, the patients, are stuck in the middle.

Compared with other countries, including other countries with free health services the performance of the NHS is mediocre.

Uncritical admiration for any organisation or person, is a recipe for inefficiency and bad management.

If change is needed we need to support it. I do think change is needed and that both staff and patients will be better served if we are honest about this.

Just been looking at the headlines in a newspaper aimed at English readers in France.

The three main headline are:
One in five French A&E units face cuts or closure due to lack of staff

Protests to put dozens of French hospitals at risk of partial closure

A decade before France has more doctors, admits health minister

Sounds familiar.

I've had good experiences and bad

I wouldn't bash it as a whole as I appreciate it

But I think someone having had a bad experience should be able to talk about it and get support

I've had good and bad experiences. Following a riding accident and excellent care by the ambulance team, I had shocking treatment at a local hospital and am lucky to be walking. My daughter (the doctor) lost an ovary aged 17 because of poor access to diagnostics and unfortunately being ill in the the first week of August when all the medics move round, no-one knew what they were doing! However, I've also had excellent care. My ideal NHS would give really good care to anyone who needs it as an emergency but if I was asked to pay more for ongoing treatment because I could afford it, then that would be OK provided that the care would be free for anyone who couldn't afford it. I don't want a two tier system but I do want a system that looks after anyone according to need and ability to pay. I think I'm saying I'm happy to pay more into the NHS and if it improves the service for everyone, then that's perfectly acceptable. I hope that makes sense. I'm sure there are holes in my argument, do feel free to disagree.

I have almost come to the end of my unfortunate experience with a combination of NHS and private health care. Both rubbish which has ended up with me losing half my nose.
I am being encouraged to sue by various people.
I don’t think I will, when I see and hear what problems others have to deal with I can live with mine.
However I am going to compile my time line and give it to both my consultant and my GP so that , hopefully, they won’t treat anyone else in the very dismissive way they treated me.
Bet they will be thrilled🥴.
There will always be mistakes made and things that go wrong but on the whole the NHS works, in my experience anyway, as well as it can.
We do ask a lot of it.
