Good Morning Everyone,
Start of another hot day here in brackley this morning.
Had a call from my consultant at the Churchill , I may have to have chemotherapy due to my bowel .
Had a worrying night.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from another cloudy and dull Black Country.

Walking group this morning, not been for a while as we were away.

My eldest granddaughter is 19 today! I remember at my 50th birthday party in the September. DS and his partner (now wife) said they were thinking of trying for a baby, and what did I think? 10 months later she was here. Such a lovely kind girl.

Tonight we are off for a meal to celebrate with family. Think it's a curry house.

So sorry to hear your news Mick hope all will be well after seeing the Consultant.

Wishing you all a lovely day, with special thoughts of Urms Kalu and anyone with health worries

Grandmabatty Thu 13-Jul-23 07:42:12

Thank you Marydoll and Stilllearning. I haven't been on holiday since before the pandemic and then it was to Berlin and then Prague. It's my first holiday with the boys and I'm looking forward to it.

Just to add the the cardiologist tales ...
My neighbour was in hospital waiting for a triple by-pass op. The cardiologist was doing his round with his posse of students. He addressed the students, not the patient. "This is Mr B. He's had his op but we're concerned there seems to be no improvement". Mr B said "That will be because I haven't had my op yet"!

Liberty Thu 13-Jul-23 07:50:38

Good morning from a bit of a sunny Suffolk. So sorry to read of upsetting news for some just now. Mick a dear friend of mine had the same op as you on the same day in another hospital and he has just learnt that chemotherapy is suggested for him. It seems to now be a routine follow up procedure as he was told it was to catch any cancer cells which had escaped during surgery. I hope you get further helpful reassuring information soon.

Apart from a 10 minute shower yesterday evening we’ve had no rain so I’ll be watering the garden this evening. Off to my stretch class in an hour or so and then a lazy day with the newspaper and my book….well I did tackle the ironing yesterday so think I’ve earned it.

Hope those with ill health or other worries find some comfort today.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 13-Jul-23 07:54:36

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, sorry to hear your news Mick , if it’s any consolation a neighbour of mine had a similar outcome to her bowel surgery over 25 yrs ago and she is still out and about and Cancer free. Chemo certainly can be a real life saver.
MzOops is here with the GCs, we had a family take away last night with MissOops, nephew didn’t arrive, but they might see him today, this evening as it’s MzOops Birthday Boxing Day they are all going to the Cinema, due to her recent traumas she has lost so much weight but has turned it around and is now running each day, gone onto a Vegan diet which has also helped her menopause symptoms so a win win. She’s still a bit fragile, but her inner strength is pretty amazing.
So a family day today.
Thoughts are with those who are unwell or stressed, hope everyone manages to have a good day and that the heavy rain showers just. Stop.

Good morning from an overcast Braintree. DD2 and son-out-law are at the hospital and DGS2 and I are soon to leave on the school run. Today will be spent waiting for news of the arrival of our first DGD.
Love to all 🦩 x

Taichinan Thu 13-Jul-23 07:59:53

Cornergran so sorry to hear that news about your d-i-l. You must all be so worried flowers
Grandmabattie I feel your excitement! Have a wonderful holiday - and enjoy your little grandsons without the responsibility. Any tantrums are handed straight over to mum and dad!

ginny Thu 13-Jul-23 08:13:31

Good morning..
Sorry to hear your news Mick but you are in good hands

Today we leave Cornwall and make our way home with an overnight stay just outside Weston Super Mere.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Gala Thu 13-Jul-23 08:14:29

Good morning from Sefton where it is managing to be both dull & bright at more or less the same time. At least it is dry. I believe a deluge is "planned" for tomorrow.
A quieter day today after the franticness of the past week. Zumba at the Parish Hall first then a visit to the fish van which will be parked nearby.
Nothing else planned for today but I do seem to have accumulated a pile of ironing which I can tackle if I get bored.😬
Positive thoughts for Mick & Marydoll & all of you with health worries & family struggles. Life can be very unfair.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Jul-23 08:17:23

Morning all

Mick hopefully all can be made clearer when you have a face-to-face appointment with your consultant 🤞
The sun is shining but there are some clouds. Today is a bits and bobs sort of day, picking up winter duvet from cleaners, a bag from the shoe menders that needed stitching then a quick whizz round Aldi.

Safe travels for the holiday folks, (((hugs))) to the poorly and troubled folk.

Have a good day 🙋‍♀️🦩

brook2704 Thu 13-Jul-23 08:19:52

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a good bright start to the day with some blue sky
Mick sorry to hear you’ll probably need further treatment, hoping all goes well
Worrying news about your Dil corner hoping she gets her treatment soon and recovers quickly
Today I’ve nothing much planned so I’m hoping to catch up with all my garden jobs, there’s always lots to do.
Waiting to hear your very good news soon Pittcity!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Nannagarra Thu 13-Jul-23 08:26:41

Good morning from Sefton where it is dry, having rained overnight, and the sun is making an appearance.
Two days ago a hedgehog left evidence it visits our garden. To the customary bowl of water, suitable food and a camera were added. Had it graced us again? Yes, followed by other wildlife. Wednesdays’s episode of Hedgehog Vision is yet to be viewed.
A visit to the dentist, DS coming for lunch and meeting friends this afternoon form my plans.
It’s understandable that you’ve had an unsettling night, Mick. The experience and advice of others here hopefully reassures you.
To all who face worries and troubles I send kind thoughts.
🦔 🦔 🦔

Morning from high cloud in S Hants.
You’ll feel better when it’s explained Mick, the photo is for you, 2017, when we lived in France.
Have the best holiday Grandmabatty hopefully with some rest
Some bitty housework today, a walk and more pruning of tomatoes.

EkwaNimitee Thu 13-Jul-23 08:49:24

Good morning Mick and everyone from currently sunny Carlisle. Will it last?

No wonder you've had a worrying night Mick. I think there's been some helpful and reassuring advice on here this morning and I hope you soon get some definite information from your medical team.

Your cardiologist tale made me laugh Taichinan. Good on that patient!

I'm off to the dentist very shortly to have a broken tooth fixed. It should have been next week but there was a cancellation I was happy to take advantage of. Then it will be home to get my Tesco delivery and play catch up with the housework and/or ironing.

Do have the best possible day all of you.

Ziplok Thu 13-Jul-23 08:52:39

Good morning,
the sun is trying to shine and we are promised a fine, if cloudy, day.
So sorry to read your news mick, but I’m sure you will receive more clarity when you speak to the consultant. That doesn’t stop you worrying though, so I hope it will be soon when you speak to him/her. 💐
Supermarket shop today.
Take care everyone.

Grammaretto Thu 13-Jul-23 09:01:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A nice looking start but I saw the weather forecast. It was rain showers sweeping across Scotland.

I hope the chemo works for you Mick and is manageable.

I have some tiny lemon sprouts grown from pips on my window ledge Marydoll also an oak tree outside from an acorn planted in 2020. It's now about 2ft tall
We are called optimists. grin

Have a wonderful holiday grandmabatty very well deserved and necessary.
DD has come home from hers with a throat infection. She's on antibiotics from the pharmacist. Apparently the examination was more thorough than a GP. no appointments

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Thu 13-Jul-23 09:10:52

Cornergran sorry to hear about your DDIL, I hope she gets treatment soon

Litterpicker Thu 13-Jul-23 09:17:58

Good morning from sunny East Lothian. We are waiting for a plumber who will replace our old and overlarge hot water tank. I hope it will be a straightforward job and not take too long. My plan is to escape to DD’s house and do some gardening. The family are on holiday this week and next, with their caravan in Normandy and Britanny. It is strange being up here without them. The cat was pleased when we appeared to do some gardening and pick the blackcurrants - she was excited to be able to come in through the front door, rather than her cat flap at the back!

We had a lovely walk yesterday, at the coast. Lots of wildflowers, birds and butterflies. The thunderstorm considerately waited until we were at the garden centre.

Mick, I’m sorry you had such a worrying night but hope you will be reassured by your oncology team and by the experiences of your friends on here.

Marydoll, I was excited to hear the news of the Burrell’s win on radio 4 yesterday evening. I said to DH that your DiL was project manager. He is familiar with some of the names on GN! I am sorry your health is so fragile and hope a restful day will help.
Oops, good to hear that MzOops is so much better.
Gmbatty enjoy your holiday.

Good wishes to all for the day. The ‘men’ have arrived. The sun has disappeared 🙁

GrannySomerset Thu 13-Jul-23 09:23:02

Sympathy to the Corners, Mick and Marydoll who are all having such a tough time. Hoping for positive news in the future. Different sort of sympathy to gMattie who may need to make a big fuss to get through the bureaucracy. Life can be so annoying sometimes.

Friends coming to take me out to lunch so am having a leisurely morning. Not seen them for over a year so much to catch up on. Meanwhile GD1 is enjoying primary school life and came home full of stories.

Auntieflo Thu 13-Jul-23 09:31:42

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
Mick, if you have to be prescribed Chemo tablets, as others have said, they are OK. I have been taking them for 2 1/2 years now, and tolerate them well.
No great action going on here, the energy levels, or lack of them, are about the same, although I did make a batch of MAMADE yesterday. I can potter in the garden for half an hour, pulling up a few weeds.
I was worried on Tuesday though. I saw a Dr, and she examined my tummy, then said she could feel a mass! I was so taken aback, that I didn't ask her more questions, although she did say she could organise a scan. I said I would wait until I spoke to my oncologist in a couple of weeks.
A friend is coming for coffee this morning, she will put me right.
GrandMattie, surely your bathroom floor should have been repaired before you moved in?
To Marydoll, the Urms, and all I have forgotten, sending love and prayers for return to better health.
Have a good day one and all.

Georgesgran Thu 13-Jul-23 09:50:54

Good morning from Durham. Bright and breezy again. A day of rest and a long lie in!
Hoping Mick isn’t left waiting for clarity - minds run riot?
Marydoll I can only send you a warm, gentle hug.
Best wishes to all. X

Grammaretto Thu 13-Jul-23 09:54:15

I meant to add that the Burrell Museum is a well deserved winner Marydoll so you should be justly proud by association.

hulahoop Thu 13-Jul-23 10:04:40
